Isn’t it funny how the organizations that Muslims, as well as non-Muslims, in the West are the first to denounce as un-Islamic are the ones that are calling for the fullest implementation of Islamic law?

HTS was previously Jabhat al-Nusra, which itself was the Syrian branch of al Qaeda during the Syrian civil war. In 2017, it merged w/ a bunch of other Nastaliq alphabet soup jihad groups to form HTS
So the question here: does al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula recognize HTS as a genuine al Qaeda organization or not? It would seem that the former would only want Quraysh Arabs from the Arabian peninsula leading the caliphate, whereas HTS calls itself the “Umayyads”, after the 2nd caliphate that was based in Damascus
