I look at Israel, a beacon of progress and prosperity. Then I look at Yemen, poorer than Haiti, benighted by ignorance and poverty and on the verge of mass starvation and never has the truth of the aforementioned ancient words seemed more applicable.

In Israel, 23 percent of the population is non-Jewish, and Muslims, Druze and Christians enjoy freedom of religion and equal rights with Israeli Jews.
The CEO of Israel’s largest bank is an Arab Muslim, and an Arab judge (I think they were Christian) sent a former Israeli Prime Minister to prison for corruption.
In Israel, all public signs are in Hebrew and Arabic, and usually on English as well. Moreover, other languages such as Russian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Ethiopian are also well-represented.
There is also no evidence that Israel is trying to vastly expand its borders. It is fighting for its survival, and simply trying to fortify the borders which it currently has.
