I finally caught up w/ this. I normally skip the songs at the start, but today, I listened to David Wood singing the “Stain on my garment” song, and like Robert said, it was hilarious to hear the citations thrown in as a part of the song – Buqhari verse ####. As for Robert’s comments on Hatun’s accent, it was hilarious hearing a Greek-American mock the British accent of a Turk 😂
On the discussion on usury & Shariah finance, Hatun hit the nail on the head when she pointed out that a home loan to a muslim would cost him less than a home loan to an infidel. This is a disguised jiziya, since the lending institutions have to absorb the cost of the loan overhead by transferring it either to their shareholders, or their non-muslim customers. Which is exactly what jiziya is – infidels paying muslims either directly or indirectly for non-existent services (and no, not being murdered doesn’t count)
At the end of the surah, when Hatun asked Robert what stood out, I thought that Robert missed 4 of the most important verses – 2:189-193. The “drive them out from where they drove you out” to “fight them until fitna is no more, and all religion is for allah”. You could ignore the bulk of what is there, but those verses stand out
Hatun’s mother-of-the-book jokes were hilarious. Apparently, the book in question was a bastard, since its mother didn’t bother to marry its father. As far as the name of Chapter 3 – Imran, I thought that it was named after a former Pakistani cricketer & prime minister. 😈 Anyway, I recall David Wood pointing out that the “Isa” of islam is Esau, which would then beg the question of who exactly was the Jesus in islam
The final question about Syria was interesting, but I’d have liked to hear Hatun’s views on Turkey’s role in this war: what she thinks of Turkey’s support to HTS, and its war on the Kurds
Finally, on Robert’s IRS troubles, I do hope that the new administration quickly stops bullying the long time contributors to jihadwatch. I thought he missed a chance to pitch his new book on Antisemitism
