postdoc – Feminism and the Culture Wars
The Duke University Program in Gender, Sexuality & Feminist (GSF) Studies invites applications for a residential postdoctoral associate focused on “Feminism and the Culture Wars” for the 2025-2026 academic year. Through research, teaching, and service, the associate will contribute to the overall work of the GSF Program. We seek candidates with training in Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies and allied fields with a specific research focus on the culture wars, broadly construed, and feminism’s historical and/or contemporary entanglements with moral panic. We welcome a variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives that situate the culture wars in a transnational context, from anti-LGBTQ extremism and Islamophobia to the border “crisis” and climate change denialism. Research may examine the affective politics of moral panic, as well as liberatory modes of resistance like decolonization, demilitarization, abolition, and transformative justice. Scholars with expertise in the following areas are encouraged to apply: transmisogyny; the policing of sex and sexuality; anti-abortion movements; purity culture; xenophobia and the refugee crisis; the war on terror; the war on drugs; and anti-intellectualism.

Position title: Assistant Professor of Black Studies Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at the time of appointment. Position description
The Department of Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track position in Race and Medicine with a start date of July 1, 2025 or thereafter. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. While all areas of research related to Race and Medicine will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching focus on Reproductive Justice and/or other aspects of Medical Racism. We define Reproductive Justice research as any project that considers Black people’s right to have children, to not have children, to raise the children we have in safe and healthy environments, and to enjoy gender and sexual autonomy.
The Department seeks social scientists and humanities scholars whose research is informed by Critical Disability Studies, Black Feminisms, Black Queer and Trans Studies, Environmental Justice, and Carceral Studies, among other specialties. Engaged, multi-modal, creative, collaborative and/or activist approaches are also welcome. Potential specializations include:
- Reproductive health care and abortion access
- Black maternal mortality
- Blackness and the Foster Care System
- Environmental Racism and Health
- Black Trans Health and Gender Affirming Care
- Transnational Migration and Black Health
- Climate Change and Chronic Conditions
- Policing and Debility
- Afro-diasporic Health and Healing
The successful candidate will join a pioneering Black Studies program with strengths in Black Queer and Trans Studies, Political Economies of Afro Latin American and the Caribbean, and African Diaspora Intellectual Traditions. An engagement with teaching and university service that addresses the needs of Black people is expected of all candidates. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

The Frederick Douglass Institute (FDI) and the Department of Black Studies at the University of Rochester invites applications from recent PhD Graduates in the humanities or social sciences for two residential postdoctoral fellowships in the 2025–26 academic year. This year, we are especially interested in scholars who are working at the cutting-edge of Black Studies—particularly focused on Black and Palestinian Solidarities and Black Trans Studies. Please note, however, this fellowship is open to all who work in the field of Black Studies. We are interested in scholars whose work aligns with our faculty research— engaging with questions emerging from environmental justice and Black Health, Black geographies and ecologies, Black Aesthetics and culture, and issues of Black gender and sexuality.

We laugh at how asinine, silly and repulsive such “academic disciplines” are and how such degrees worthless. However these degrees will provide the miscreants who hold them with access to power in societies institutions and the ability to twist the minds of impressionable young people.

It’s not just the ridiculous pseudo-scientific nature of the positions, it’s the pay. Professors of Criminology/Criminal collect half the pay listed above. For more than a decade all the staff/faculty derided criminal justice department as unserious, as in, ‘students only take those courses because they’re easy’. As if law and forensics were easy. The major is popular because all of the criminal justice students can immediately translate their degrees into real jobs. Academe isn’t just woke, it’s imbued with envy and malfeasance.
