These rival Jihadi groups might as well be Central-American drug gangs, as far as their ethics and morality are concerned. Many of their “rivalries” date back a thousand years or more.

I expect the promise not to attack Israel to last, given that they can see what happened to both Hamas and Hizbullah. Last thing they’d want would be to be destroyed by Israel, and then another Alawite militia retaking Syria
I expect the Christians to be their next target

There are many sects and groups in Syria. One can not expect a perfectly smooth transition. More of these events are inevitable. That is the best reason for Israel to have set up a security zone — at least until things settle down and some sort of rule of law is established. Unfortunately islamic groups don’t seem to value the rule of law very highly — if at all.

The Gulf states, who will likely be called upon to help finance Syria’s rebuilding, are highly unlikely to support anything resembling a democracy. Nor will Jordan. It would embolden revolutionary movements in their countries.
Also, it is certain that the Kurds are going to use the fall as an opportunity to set up an independent state of their own which Turkey will go to war to stop.
One thing is very certain — this will be interesting.
