This is one of the reasons that I’ve been rooting for the Assad regime to survive. Not b’cos he is good, but b’cos his enemies are far worse than he is
That said, one of the videos I watched last night suggested that he might be the target of an internal coup from either one of his brothers (didn’t know he had any more siblings left) or other Alawite officials. It wasn’t clear whether Bashar al Assad was in Damascus or Moscow: the details were sketchy. But what was particularly embarrassing was that the HTS jihadists forced not just the Syrian troops, but residual Russian troops as well, to flee south to Hama and then Homs
I don’t mind Bashar al Assad being replaced by other Alawites, as long as they smartly do a combination of the following things:
➤ Make peace w/ Israel
➤ Keep the Russian alliance intact, particularly against Turkey
➤ Force Hizbullah to serve in Syria itself, or send them back to Iran, but disallow them from operating any more in Lebanon
➤ Renew alliances w/ Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Emirates, et al, on condition that they will not support sunni insurrections like HTS
➤ End military cooperation w/ Iran, at least wrt Israel. Iran may support against the sunnis & Turkey, but not Israel
The positive for Hizbullah would be that they’d stop being targeted by Israel, but they do have to leave Lebanon. But they will have plenty to keep them occupied in Syria

Yes, Greece and the U.S. as well should protect this pastor.
A big reason why the Turks were able to conquer Constantinople, was because Christendom had too many schisms.
Lord God, please protect him, and crush the brutal jihadists.

The “Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Ephraim of Aleppo” should qualify as an actual refugee.
With Pres. Trump in 2025, perhaps the United States could send in military special forces in order to bring this Bishop into the United States.
