Should Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson be in prison for trying to frame Donald Trump for a crime he didn’t commit? Of course, they should. It will never happen, as their defenders will deflect any attempt to bring them to justice for their partisan witch hunt by claiming that holding them accountable is the real partisan witch hunt. Nevertheless, they’ve committed an enormous crime, and Donald Trump just called them out for it.
Old Joe Biden wasn’t just the worst president in American history; he was something even worse than that. He was the first chief executive to weaponize the engines of government against his political opponents. He was the first American president to corrupt the justice system and further the corruption of his own political party and the establishment media in pursuit of the destruction of his foremost political foe. He was the first (although some would say the second) president to place the continued existence of America as a free society in serious doubt. He did not, however, do all this alone. He had significant bipartisan help. Now Trump has said that two of Old Joe’s accomplices should be in prison. He is right, of course, but the predictable howls of outrage have already started.
In a “Meet the Press” interview that NBC broadcast on Sunday, Trump charged that as then-Rep. Cheney (R-Hate Trump), Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Hate Trump), and others tried to frame him as the traitorous ringleader of the left’s fictional Jan. 6 “insurrection,” Cheney “did something that’s inexcusable, along with Thompson and the people on the un-select committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps. They deleted and destroyed all evidence. And Cheney was behind it. And so was Bennie Thompson and everybody on that committee. For what they did, honestly, they should go to jail.” Indeed.
In this, Trump didn’t say anything that the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight hadn’t said in a report on the Jan. 6 frame job. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, (R-Ga.) said: “For nearly two years, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th Select Committee promoted hearsay and cherry-picked information to promote its political goal – to legislatively prosecute former President Donald Trump.” The report said that the Jan. 6 committee attempted “to promote a political narrative” and charged that it “deleted records and hid evidence” before Republicans gained a majority in the House in 2022.
Specifically, the report stated: “THE SELECT COMMITTEE DELETED RECORDS AND HID EVIDENCE – Reps. Thompson and Cheney failed to turn over video recordings of witness interviews and depositions despite using these recordings in their high-profile, primetime hearings. The Subcommittee recovered over one hundred deleted or password-protected files, including some files that were deleted days before Republicans took the majority. They also hid multiple transcribed interviews of witnesses who had firsthand knowledge of Trump‘s actions on January 6.”

Without a trial and significant jail time, this is a message to future would be facilitators of evidence-destroyers and false prosecutions to engage in similar behavior. Hillary is another one that should be incarcerated. She revealed herself as a compulsive liar; she lied to the American people, on many occasions where there was no purpose for lying. For example, she was not under fire when she went to Kosovo, but she said she was. Having private servers, that contained highly classified information was another crime, And then wiping those servers compounded the crime.
And, Dominion knew that their voting machines were not secure and subject to tampering. Instead of addressing the issue, they used lawfare And sued anyone who called them out.

I agree completely with everyone and am sick of these employees of the taxpayers facing no consequences. Any other individual would be held personally liable and unable to shift the burden to taxpayers. Seize their pensions as well.
Pardons for J6ers. The treatment has been criminal. Allow them to sue Cheney, Johnson, Pelosi, Muriel Bowser, Michael Byrd, Lila Morris, et al.

Agree that the Biden Administration weaponized the engines of government against his political opponents, and those involved should face consequences.
But don’t agree that the Biden was the first chief executive to do this.
Arguably, Obama was the first chief executive to weaponize the engines of government against his political opponents. In addition to spying on the Trump campaign using the FBI and Intelligence Community, remember how Obama used the IRS and EPA to target Republicans.

I am not a US law attorney, but on other sites posters have cited:
“18 U.S. Code § 2071 – Concealment, removal, or mutilation generally provides:
Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States….”
Subsection (b) of 18 U.S.C. § 2071 contains a similar prohibition specifically directed at custodians of public records. Any custodian of a public record who “willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys (any record) shall be fined not more than $2,000 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.”
Seems to me those on that J6 Committee who had records, video, etc. destroyed did, indeed, break this law.
So, it does not matter how Thompson and Cheney feel, or what they say, or the color of their skin, or their sex or sexual orientation, etc. ad nauseam. What matters is whether or not they broke the law. The answer seems to be a clear “yes”!
And the just punishment should be the maximum:
1. $2,000 fine
2. 3 years in prison
3. Immediately forfeit their office, and never hold any office again.

And, all those injured by their illegal actions…***under color of law**** (meaning using their official office to commit the crimes) should sue for personal injury, damaged reps, lost wages, etc. until they wish they had never been politicians.

I think a lot about those who committed suicide, and the ones who died from illness, while stressed beyond their limit by the awful conditions and the unlawful abuse against them.
And their grieving families. Nothing can help those. but the living, can at least get some satisfaction of having a measure of justice in the punishment of their persecutors.
