What ideology? If Asif Rahman is a Muslim, it could be sympathy for the Islamic Republic and devotion to the cause of the global jihad. If he isn’t Muslim, it could be the dhimmi’s identification with Islam and its causes, particularly that of the “Palestinians.”

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (AP) — A CIA analyst charged with leaking top secret details ahead of a planned Israeli attack on Iran earlier this year will remain jailed pending trial, a judge ordered Wednesday.
The ruling by US District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles overrules a magistrate who said last week that Asif Rahman, 34, of Vienna, Virginia, could be free on restrictions while he awaits trial on charges of disclosing national defense information….
At Wednesday’s detention hearing, prosecutor Troy Edwards said Rahman was motivated by ideology, though he did not discuss what that ideology might be.
In fact, he said the conclusion that Rahman’s motive was ideological was essentially process of elimination, noting that Rahman comes from a wealthy family and has access to a multimillion-dollar family trust, and therefore wouldn’t have a financial incentive.
Edwards also highlighted eight pages of notes found on Rahman when he was arrested last month in Cambodia, where he worked at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh. Those notes included two separate “to-do” lists, one of which was largely blocks of apparently encrypted text along with an unencrypted sentence pertaining to US missile capabilities. Edwards said investigators have not yet been able to decipher the encryption.
A separate, unencrypted to-do list included categories labeled “contingencies” and “run,” Edwards said.
Official court documents are vague about what was leaked, but details discussed in open court make clear that it references an October disclosure of documents from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency noting that Israel was moving military assets into place to conduct a military strike on Iran after Iran launched its own missile attack on Israel on October 1, firing 200 ballistic missiles at the country.
Israel ended up carrying out an attack targeting Iran’s air defense systems and missile manufacturing facilities in late October.
In court papers, the government said the leak caused Israel to delay its attack plans. Edwards said the volatile nature of the Middle East made the leak exceptionally dangerous….
Rahman’s attorney, Amy Jeffress, cited anonymous sources in news articles who have downplayed the leak’s significance.
Jeffress said the to-do list included the word “run” because Rahman is an avid jogger. She also said it’s rare for defendants facing similar charges to be detained pending trial….

Just because detainment is “rare” doesn’t mean this guy should be *running* loose.
And “run” can have a lot of different meanings. Even computer stuff, as in “run the program.” Downloading can have the command to “run.”
And criminals have to keep that word, “run,” in mind at all times.
This case also helps the valid arguments against the idea that poverty leads mozlums to terror.

And what would be the status if Israeli pilots were shot down and died as a result of this spy giving secrets away for the purpose of making the Israeli attack not a success.This person has no connection to Middle East terrorists and as the article pointed out comes from an extremely wealthy family. So what was his motivation? His “ideology” was and is hatred for Israel. A person who has no connection to the conflict he took upon himself to harm one side. So powerful is anti-Semitism that it can create an enemy of Jews based on a persons interpretation of news and events in a nation with a free press. Clearly even if he read Israeli sources and saw the conflict from a different set of eyes it wouldn’t matter because Jews are in his mind a group that is so evil that it is worth throwing his future away. For a CIA analyst to come that conclusion that has nothing to do with Islam and jihad is really extraordinary and shows the deep and power of anti-Semitism.

A Muslim, identified as Asif Rahman, who worked for the U.S. government has been charged with leaking classified information assessing Israel’s earlier plans to attack Iran, according to court papers filed Wednesday. He was indicted last week in U.S. court in Virginia on two counts of willful transmission of national defense information — felony charges that can carry significant prison sentences.
AP News The charges stem from the documents, attributed to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency, appearing last month on a channel of the Telegram messaging app. The documents noted that Israel was still moving military assets in place to conduct a military strike in response to Iran’s blistering ballistic missile attack on Oct. 1.
Israel carried out a retaliatory attack on multiple sites in Iran in late October.

Do you think there just might be something about his name, and the ideology he harbors, that ought to have disqualified him from such clearance? Do you think those judging him didn’t want to be seen as have denied him the top security clearance lest they be accused of “Islamophobia”? Are no eyebrows raised at the FBI and the CIA when they are asked to vet people named Asif, Rahman, Mahmoud, Ahmed, Muhammad, Abdullah, Feisal, Yahya, Sadiq, Ismail, Moussa, Khaled, Yassir, and so on and so bloody forth?
Who were the agents who vetted Asif Rahman and decided he could be given that top security clearance at the CIA? Will they now be investigated for their failure? And will the CIA and the Pentagon look again at their Muslim employees, and Muslim sympathizers in their ranks, who have received that same level of security clearance as Asif Rahman?

The prosecutor said his ideology was a primary motivating factor which he determined through a process of illumination. It shall be interesting to see this argument play out in court when his ‘ideology’ is explored in greater detail.
