Palestinian Islamic Jihad chief Ziyad al-Nakhalah fled Syria a few weeks ago, Israel’s public broadcaster KAN reported on Sunday.
Nakhalah reportedly escaped to Tehran, fearing Israeli elimination.
Nakhalah’s deputy, Akram al-Ajouri, was also reported to have left Syria, retreating with the terror group’s top military brass to Iraq.
According to KAN, the terror group operated in Syria under the auspices of Assad’s regime….

Is PIJ a shi’a group, unlike Hamas? What made them pick Iran, which is being heavily targeted, rather than Turkey, where Hamas has now moved after being asked to leave Qatar? I understand Hizbullah’s Naim Qassem fleeing to Iran, since he’s a shi’a, but not jihad Ziyad

Yeah, but usually when they have to flee, one would expect a sunni jihadist to flee to a sunni country. Here, the leader has filed to one shi’a country – Iran, while the other has filed to another shi’a country – Iraq. Wouldn’t Turkey have been a safer place to flee to, just like w/ Hamas’ Khaled Mashal and Marzouk?
