New in PJ Media:
It’s a glorious time to be alive.
With Trump’s pick of Kash Patel to be FBI director, the deeply threatened Beltway elites are howling more loudly than ever. No one more imitating a stuck pig more convincingly than John Bolton, the establishment Republican’s establishment Republican, who has decided that the Patel appointment is a good time to try out his sky-is-falling act. And who knows? He might end up being more successful with it than he was with his diplomatic career.
Fox News reported Sunday that Bolton, who has been enraged at Trump ever since he was fired from the first Trump administration for advocating that the U.S. get involved in more endless and unnecessary wars, sent a statement about the Patel appointment to Kristin Welker of NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Welker wrote on X: “Trump’s former National Security Advisor John Bolton tells @NBCNews: ‘Trump has nominated Kash Patel to be his Lavrenty Beria. Fortunately, the FBI is not the NKVD. The Senate should reject this nomination 100-0.’”
Kash Patel is Beria now? This was shocking despite that fact that reckless, overheated, hysterical, and defamatory rhetoric about Donald Trump has become commonplace. The Democrats have been relentlessly smearing Trump as an “insurrectionist” ever since their fake “insurrection” of Jan. 6, and before that, painted him without a shred of evidence as a foreign agent, a pawn of Vladimir Putin. All that was bad enough, but in his shot at Patel, Bolton went even farther. In the febrile mind of the failed National Security Adviser, Trump is not only a threat to “our democracy” and a catspaw of the Russians; he is nothing less than a new Stalin.
Beria, you see, was the head of the NKVD, the Soviet secret police and one of the precursors to the KGB. Beria was the terrifying edge of Stalin’s regime as Uncle Joe consolidated his power, eliminated his Bolshevik rivals, and waged brutal war against his own people as he solidified the hold of the Soviet tyranny over the nations he controlled. Beria, always acting with Stalin’s approval, was responsible for the massacre of 22,000 Poles in the Katyn Forest in 1940.
That same year, Beria sent hundreds of thousands of Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, and Romanians to Siberia, or just directly to prison camps, for the crime of having the wrong ethnicity; Stalin wanted to fill his new territories with Russians. Beria was behind the purge of officers from the Red Army who were suspected of being insufficiently loyal to the Soviet state. He was also behind the institutionalized terrorizing of the people of the Soviet Union, who could no longer be sure, no matter how loyal they were and how hard they worked, that they could avoid the knock on the door at 4 a.m. and a trip to the Gulag. That was how Stalin kept his people in line and ensured that they would be eager to demonstrate their loyalty to the Workers’ Paradise.
There is more. Read the rest here.

I used to agree w/ John Bolton during the Bush era, but that was based on a few assumptions:
⮞ That he also agreed that islam is a threat to the West. However, that was an assumption that had no basis in reality
⮞ The wars that he advocated simply advocated defanging regimes, be it the Taliban, Iraq, Syria or whoever. I had no idea whether he supported Bush’s nation building projects, so assumed that he didn’t
⮞ Even on security measures like the PATRIOT Act, I was okay w/ mass surveillance, as long as it caught jihadist figures. However, that would have required profiling, and not looking at grandmas or kids in strollers, but definitely at muslim men going into airports or other areas. However, once the latter became verboten thanks to the latest woke trigger of “islamophobia”, there was no more a justification of the PATRIOT Act
To make things worse, Bolton just maintained his paranoid phobia about Russia, much like Mitt Romney in 2012. I watched a recent debate b/w Bolton and Ramaswamy, and the latter pointed out how the West reneged on a commitment made to Gorbachev to not expand NATO even an inch, in lieu of the Soviets not putting any roadblocks on German reunification in 1989. Bolton made the defense that it was those countries that had requested to join NATO. Actually, so had Russia, on two occasions – once w/ Bush, and a second time w/ Obama, and both times the answer was no. That’s what it should also have been w/ Poland, Hungary, Romania, et al, much less the Baltic countries. Or else, Russia should have been welcomed in
One major thing Bolton misses about the Cold War – ever since President Nixon’s rapprochement w/ the Chicoms, Moscow and Beijing were never on the same side during the Cold War. After the Cold War ended, the US should have made Russia an ally, but turned on China, and demanded that it vacate Tibet (much like the demand that the Soviets vacate the Baltic states). Instead, the Clinton Administration approved China’s entry into the WTO, which was way worse than even NAFTA! No attempts were made to win over Moscow, despite the Cold War era propaganda that we were only against the Communists but not against the Russian people. However, our policies on Russia even in the 90s, before Putin arrived, gave lie to that statement
My own assessment of establishment Republicans in the Foreign Policy establishment is simple: if you don’t see the importance of separating Moscow from Beijing, and breaking up SCO, BRICS & any other alliances they may have, nobody should ever take your opinions on this topic seriously. In the meantime, Turkey, a member of NATO, has been one of the worst offenders of Western interests in the Middle East and beyond, and is a more hostile country than even countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria. islam has replaced communism as the biggest threat to the Free World since 2001, if not earlier, and any of those CFC Republicans who don’t recognize that should simply retire and not even appear on TV or podcasts

Fine post, Infidel. One small quibble: Russia and China were on the same side during the Cold War in the 1950s and this is why China was able to access Soviet nuclear secrets but by 1959 this temporary alliance was over.

Yeah, but in the 1950s, China was pretty weak, and in 1959, they had the split w/ the Soviets over world revolution. But Nixon saw to it that that split was never healed, so that even when China underwent some of Deng Xiaoping’s reforms, at the same time that Gorbachev was doing his, they still were on different teams
That pretty much ended after 2014, when we started interfering in Ukraine on the maidan protests. Oh, and b/w the 1998 WTO entry of China and then, we did nothing to ensure that China doesn’t become too rich and thereby too powerful

bolton probably wanted the job. Not getting it, not getting anything, he has to lash out in whatever ways he can.
Petty minded, spiteful people do hateful, spiteful things.

Even there, keep an eye on his activities. Janitors have a whole ring of keys.

It’s impossible to know everything about everyone.
I thought Bolton was OK – during his many interviews on Fox and elsewhere, but that’s a limited view of a person.
So much information – critical information – is kept hidden from da People, that making a political choice – or even forming an opinion – is always based on partial knowledge, supposition, extrapolation, and previous bias. Even those “in the know” often don’t know.
We’ll be lucky to get out of here alive. 😉
