For the first time. This is much worse than Afghanistan.
Even by the standards of the Arab Spring, having an Al Qaeda-affiliated terror group take over a country and instantly win international praise and recognition is quite surreal, but then by now everyone with a grain of sense treats media narratives like they were coming out of Communist China or Russia.
Syria’s rebel groups who fought to oust Bashar al-Assad have agreed to disband and merge into the defense ministry, according to the new administration.
The groups will report to Murhaf Abu Qasra, the former military head of leading rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), and will include army officers who defected from Assad’s regime. Syria’s leaders now face the “daunting” task of trying to avoid clashes between the different groups, Reuters reported.
Murhaf Abu Qasra also serves as the Defense Minister so essentially all the Jihadis and what’s left of Syria’s military will be reporting to him. What that means is that Syria’s military operation is under the control of what, until recently, was a sanctioned terrorist group that had originally allied with Al Qaeda.
This is being treated as a non-issue and there are frowns being directed at Israel for taking out the weapons, naval assets, and aircraft of the old Syrian regime before they fall into the hands of Islamic terrorists.
This is a worse situation arguably than what happened in Afghanistan. Syria has far more advanced military and industrial technology than Afghanistan ever did. Islamic terrorists have gotten their hands on the weapons of a fairly modern army for the first time. We should all be cheering Israel for destroying as much of it as possible. And we should be helping. Instead there are complaints that Israel is preventing a formerly Al Qaeda affiliated group from having its own chemical weapons.

I thought that Israel had destroyed their military – at least all their hardware, such as aircraft, ships, WMDs and other military infrastructure. What does this new HTS military have left?
I do think that they may have been taking notes about Israel’s demolition of particularly Hizbullah, which enabled HTS to overrun Syria, as well as what Israel has done to Iran. I think they’ll for the short term focus against Alawites and Christians. Not that I’m a fan of that, but like all bullies, they recognize what will happen if they took on either Israel or the US

If obl still lived, he could go there and become the head cheese and what then? He’d be invited by biden to visit him in the Caribbean before Jan 20 for a sit-down to discuss what obl should do next.
obl had tried to rule afghanistan, but it didn’t work out as he believed it would when he left the mb to form al queda.
It looks very much like islam is the nearly-severed head of the seven-headed wild beast of Revelation 13. mozlums are in control in so many places….including those which have, until recently, fought such things.

We have to thank Israel for destroying the military equipment.
And we have to thank Biden too for giving weapon so that Afghanistan can attack Pakistan (this one is sarcasm)

This is why an kind of military assistance to Muslim countries is a bad idea. Just like Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and others, you never know who will subsume all the military weaponry and equipment that we so blindly give to these shitholes. Every Muslim nation is one fatwa or one event away from Islamist chaos at any moment. Clear understanding of how the Muslim world truly works is essential to stopping this cycle. But unfortunately, we have essentially zero understanding of Islam left within our military and intelligence systems.
What a shame it is the world that we could be living in with competent governance in the past century. So many missed opportunities and self-inflicted wounds.

Many issues would be resolved if people in power understood Islam, and had the courage to condemn this evil :religion.:
