Mathilde Panot, president of the far-left La France Insoumise group in the National Assembly since October 2021, stated:
Faced with this umpteenth denial of democracy, we will censure the government…
We are living in political chaos because of Michel Barnier’s government and Emmanuel Macron’s presidency.
Let’s hope that France doesn’t prove to be as collectively simple-minded as Britain, which after the Conservative failure and betrayal chose an even farther leftist government that is now bringing the country to complete ruin. Barnier’s government has relied on support from Le Pen’s party to survive, and now Le Pen has rightly stated that “The French have had enough.” We can hope that the entire West has had enough of leftist regimes, but in France as in Britain, the cure could be worse than the disease.
“French government heading towards collapse as PM Barnier faces no-confidence vote,” by Samuel Osborne, Sky News, December 2, 2024:
The French government is heading towards collapse after far-right and left-wing parties said they would vote for a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
It follows Mr Barnier’s decision to use special powers to force the social security budget through the lower house of parliament without a final vote after a last-minute concession was not enough to win support from the far-right National Rally (RN).
RN leader Marine Le Pen said her party would table its own no-confidence motion but would also vote for any similar bill from other parties.
“The French have had enough,” she said.
“Maybe they thought with Michel Barnier things would get better, but they were even worse.”
Mathilde Panot, from the hard-left France Unbowed party, said: “Faced with this umpteenth denial of democracy, we will censure the government…
“We are living in political chaos because of Michel Barnier’s government and Emmanuel Macron’s presidency.”….

Far left, far right is mis-leading. Communist and fascists are both socialists in nature. Being socialists the government must dominate the social order. On the political spectrum far left is central control, usually some sore of dictatorial process; the opposite of this is anarchism or no government at all. No government or a dysfunctional government is practically the same unworkable bureaucracy. The resolution is representative government with checks and balances between the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislative Branches of government. The key basis of democratic government is the legislative branch of the government elected by the people. All proposed laws are introduced by the National Assembly. Sound familiar?

Good move by Le Pen. It wasn’t too long ago that Macron snatched a victory from her by getting Far Left support. Now it’s hilarious to see her backing that Far Left in stabbing him in the back. Hopefully, she can force the collapse of his government, and force elections that finally sees the National Rally to power

I often watch FRANCE 24 the English language broadcast.

I’ve recently noticed that now that Marine La Pen and her RALLYE NATIONALE has a real possibility of becoming their SOURCE OF REVENUE they’ve become a lot more friendly when discussing her.

One of three outcomes….
1) A new center-right coalition including Le Pen’s party
2) A left-wing government with centrist support
3) New elections

#2 was what we had. #1 is a non-starter, given the National Rally’s stances on muslim immigration
Therefore, #3 looks like the only option. Only question is – when?
