Beyond the World Cup, they’ve spent staggering amounts of money buying influence in American universities and elsewhere. It has been a successful influence operation. Still, gaining hegemony over the other Sunni countries seems unlikely.
“‘Establish Islamic Caliphate, build Europe’s largest mosque’, claims European leader about this Muslim nation, not Saudi Arabia, UAE, it is…,” by Tahir Qureshi, India.com, December 24, 2024:
Lisbon: The Gulf Muslim country, which earns a lot of money from oil and gas, is engaged in a project to implement the Islamic Caliphate. For this, it is spending money with an open hand. This claim was made by former Portuguese ambassador to Qatar and politician António Tânger Corrêa. He said Qatar is using billions of dollars from gas exports to help it achieve its dream of re-establishing the caliphate.
António Tânger Corrêa said that we should not hold the Football World Cup and other such big events in Qatar. These events provide Qatar with an international platform from which to elevate its agenda.
“When they decided to stop the bullfight in Barcelona, Qatar wanted to buy the bullfight ground and build the largest mosque in Europe in its place”, he claims.
The Portuguese politician claimed that Qatar dreams of establishing the caliphate once again.
“I know what I’m saying. I have been in Qatar. I have served there as an ambassador”.
“He claimed that Qatar has a very bad system. There is a lot of strictness on the labourers working there. Passports and other things are taken from them. They are forced to live in poor conditions. They act like modern slaves,” said Correa….

mozlums all read and worship the same book of demonic evil. Every devout mozlum wants the same things: to have everything and everyone bowing to their evil beast, false god and fake prophet.
They all want every Jew and every Christian dead, and everyone else bowing down with them to their wild beast of demon evil, or dead for refusing.
Even if they have no real hope of beating out the other mozlums.
It’s like every person who desires to be rich in money and things; people will keep on dreaming that they can one day have it all.
My father used to sometimes say when talking money, “I gave up on making my first million; now I’m working on the second.” (it was a joke, of course)
No mozlum wants some other mozlum to have more power, more slaves, more women to rape if they believe they can beat the others to the goal. But they will celebrate any evil achievement that furthers islam’s growth and power.

So many ambassadors to Arab countries subsequently become well-paid shlils for those countries. Think of former Ambassador James Akins, who back in Washington became an unregistered foreign agent for the Saudis. The Western world should be shunning the caliphate-dreaming quasi-slave state of Qatar. Ambassador António Tânger Corrêa — so different from that other Portuguese in the public eye, Antonio Guterres — has observed Qatar up close, and he is here to warn the West.

Former Portuguese ambassador to Qatar says Qatar dreams of establishing Islamic caliphate
……………………………………………..
All Musim nations dream of heading the Caliphate. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and even Shia Iran all have the same ugly goals. That anyone in the West thinks that Qatar is civilized is inexplicable.
Thanks to the Portuguese Ambassador for the warning.

Aside from Saudi Arabia & Turkey, I wonder how any other muslim country thinks it can head the caliphate? Saudi Arabia has Mecca & Medina – two must-haves for any caliphate, and it also has the Quraysh Arabs – the tribe that any leader of islam has to be from. As well as being the richest, if not the most powerful, of the Arab countries. Qatar may have some Quraysh (not sure) as well as be the per capita richest, if not in absolute numbers, but I still don’t see how they beat any claims of Emirates, Kuwait, Oman
On the Saudi thing, I recently watched a video that claimed that their $2 trillion city Neom is failing, and is a money loser. I actually think that we’re not gonna go off oil or gas, and that Saudi Arabia is needlessly worried (unless they happen to have geological indicators that they’re really running out of oil). But I do hope that they manage to get all their people to where the Emirates is, so that in a worst case scenario, people don’t end up clamoring for islam
The Turkish claims I get, although from an islamic theological POV, it’s specious, since Turks are not Arabs. But historically, they were an even bigger islamizing force in both Asia and Europe, w/ 8 islamic empires that islamized a lot of real estate from Albania to Bangladesh. If the real history of islam is ever fully determined, it may turn out that it was they, rather than the Arabs, who invented islam
However, other countries like Pakistan or Indonesia who think of islamic leadership are really smoking something if they think that Arabs or Turks or African muslims will accept their leadership
