The Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas are both jihadist entities which seek the obliteration of Israel and the eradication of Christianity from the region of its birth. The only difference between the PA and Hamas is methodology. Subtlety wins over gullible Westerners, and the PA outshines Hamas in winning the hearts (and wallets) of Westerners. Amid Israel’s defensive war against jihadists comes a new report from the Jerusalem Post about the alarming decline in Christianity under both the PA and Hamas: “Christian population declined 90% under Palestinian Authority and Hamas – study,” Jerusalem Post, December 23, 2024:
Violence and coercion has resulted in up to a 90% decline in the Christian population in areas under Hamas or Palestinian Authority control, according to a new study by the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs (JCFA).
In 1922, Christians constituted 11% of the population. Today, in 2024, they are just 1%.
The JCFA research, led by Lt. Col. (res.) Maurice Hirsch and Attorney Tirza Shorr, discovered mass emigration of Christians, particularly from historically significant cities like Bethlehem.
“Demographics don’t lie. We are witnessing a significant 80-90% decline in the Christian population in major cities,” the researchers emphasized….
The city of Bethlehem is used as an illustration of what JCFA calls “Christian demographic erasure.”
In 1950, Bethlehem and the surrounding villages were 86% Christian.
However, this has dwindled since 1994, when the PA took control of the city. The last census in 2017 showed Bethlehem was 10% Christian families, but many have left, or are leaving…
Nevertheless, the Palestinian Authority has dedicated itself to milking Western sympathies, as has the Hamas-infiltrated UNRWA. According to the Arab Center in Washington DC:
Aid to Palestinians amounted to more than $40 billion between 1994 and 2020. The largest portion of this assistance (35.4 percent) went to support the PA budget… The bulk of the aid—nearly 72 percent—came from ten donors: the European Union (18.9), the United States (14.2), Saudi Arabia (9.9), Germany (5.8), the United Arab Emirates (5.2), Norway (4.8), United Kingdom (4.3), the World Bank (3.2), Japan (2.9), and France (2.7). The European Union also awarded the Palestinian Authority almost €1.2 billion in donations for 2021-2024 under the European Joint Strategy.
This is all despite the fact that the Palestinian Authority officially rewards and bestows benefits amounting to $300 million a year to imprisoned and released jihad terrorists, and to the families of “martyrs.” The PA is committed to killing Jews and destroying Israel, and puts substantial funds into this cause.
Not long after October 7, Biden said that a “revitalized Palestinian Authority” should eventually govern Gaza and the West Bank.
He and other leftist leaders are convinced that the PA is a legitimate government that seeks the well-being of its people and will be stabilizing to the region. And under the radar, the Biden administration approved sending $75,000,000 to “Palestinians” the day before Hamas’ savage jihad massacres.
Days ago, the Biden administration asked Israel to “urgently approve the supply of equipment and ammunition” for PA security forces who are battling it out with Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Jenin Brigades (an offshoot of PIJ) in Judea and Samaria. Jihadist-on-jihadist violence is an historic norm and is only to be expected.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned about the PA:
The difference between Hamas and the PA is only that Hamas wants to destroy us here and now, the PA wants to do it in stages,”
An analyst and author at Palestinian Media Watch, Nan Jacques Zilberdik, similarly notes a fundamental difference between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas:
While the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Fatah pretend to the world that they would be content with a Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967, borders — living in peace, side by side with Israel — they have a different message when addressing the Arab/Palestinian public. In talking to their own people, their goal echoes former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s “stages plan,” which meant that Palestinians would conquer Israel bit by bit. Still today, PA/Fatah leaders believe the way to destroy Israel is to agree to a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders as a first step, leaving Israel with indefensible borders.
Deception is the key. According to a Palestinian politician and top member of the Hamas political bureau, Fathi Hammad: the Palestinians are “preparing to establish global Islamic caliphate with Jerusalem as its capital.”
The gullible West has been foolishly propping up jihadist entities that seek Israel’s annihilation and the conquest of Christianity.
