Australian News Presenter Fired for Her Pro-Israel Views

Erin Molan was until a few days ago a celebrated television news presenter at Sky News Australia. Ever since war broke out between Israel and Hamas on October 7, 2023, she has remained a stout defender of the embattled Jewish state, saying that whatever pain the Gazans are now enduring is a direct result both of Hamas’ atrocities carried out against Israel, and the terror group’s insistence on embedding its combatants, its command-and-control centers, and its weapons in civilian areas and buildings. She has been vague on the reasons for her firing, but it seems clear her defense of Israel was what prompted her dismissal. Australian TV presenter Erin Molan, who was fired by Sky News earlier this month, declined to say she was dismissed because of her outspoken support for Israel, but recalled the backlash — including threats against her family — that she has received over the last year as a result of her stances, in an interview with Channel 12 that aired on Saturday.

During the interview, which was filmed during her recent first visit to Israel, Molan explained that she became an outspoken supporter of Israel over the past 14 months following the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror onslaught in southern Israel which sparked the ongoing war against the terror group in the Gaza Strip due to her ability to “see right from wrong.”

“I can see good versus evil, and I don’t think it’s complicated at all,” she expounded. “I think that every death, every causality, every single life that’s been lost in the Middle East since October 7 lays squarely and solely on the hands of Hamas and the people who fund them.”

Molan was fired from her role as a politician news commentator for Sky News Australia earlier in December for reasons that were not made public, although the broadcast network defined the end of her tenure as “amicable.”…

While she acknowledged that she “paid a heavy price” for her public support of Israel, Molan stopped short of suggesting it was the reason behind her dismissal from Sky News.

“I won’t go too much into the detail of that, but they are not antisemitic at Sky. I’d say that absolutely,” she said.

But Sky News was not prepared to support Erin Molan when the hate mail arrived from viewers, who threatened not just Molan, but her six-year-old daughter, for expressing her views.

Those who fired Erin Molan were alarmed by the complaints they received about her from the pro-Hamas segment of her audience. Now one hopes, and expects, that another television channel will snap her up as a senior correspondent, or even give her a news program of her own, where she can continue to distinguish right from wrong for those Australian viewers who still care about such things.

  2. I support her stand. Non-muslims had better learn that giving into actions or demands only encourages increasing the behavior. It is their belief system.

  3. Muslim countries in the recent past did not have the weaponry to challenge Western powers but that is changing as nuclear bombs are in the hands of Pakistan and maybe soon Iran. And these countries are also in the production of ballistic missiles. But Muslim countries have had and have now a weapon which is just as important and necessary to shield Islamic nations from critical Western concerns for nuclear power Muslim countries. That weapon is Western media which does not place that concern in their news and analysis while at the same time keeping a full court press on everything Israel does to protect itself from these nuclear Islamic countries. Thus Australians, French, Germans, Brits, Italians ( the Pope is an ally of Islamic propaganda especially Palestinian as well as vehemently anti-Israel and anti-Jewish), Sweden and Norway and the US. The population of these nations do not hate Israel the way the media in these nations do. And they are very concerned with the number of Muslims who have invaded their nations and show their politics are not much different from when they resided in Middle East Muslim nations. But the fears and anger of people of these nations do not have an outlet in their nations media. In the US as well as Europe, high placed Left wing political parties place barriers to finding out what are the actual statistics of the crime and hate of these Muslims now living in these nations. Sweden makes finding out that the majority of convicted rapists in Swedish prisons are Muslim migrants, often Amnesty awarded ones. The Left wing provides cover for the Muslims migrant criminals. No government is anxious to release figures on the level of Muslim criminality, or the cost of providing welfare, housing, etc. to Muslims. The less the people know about the recent Muslims now living in their country the less they know about the countries from which they came from as well. And the less the people are concerned about the threat these nations pose. Russia and China are the bogey men for the West. But the threat of nuclear war is greater from places like Iran or Pakistan because radical Islam sees the US, and Europe as “satanic” powers who should be destroyed even from inside ( growing Muslim migrant populations) or from outside ( Nuclear missiles). And perhaps leaders like the Iranian mullahs believe that the West won’t even respond to a nuclear attack in kind because we in the West have lost the warlike instincts we once had. Except for perhaps Trump. But with the Bidens of the US they may be right.

    Australians are not pro-Hamas. But the Muslims in Australia are. And their Left wing white supporters which I am sure are a small minority. However when Muslims find an Australian media person being vocal in his or her support of Israel, they react as one.

    If the number of “complaints” about a media news person number in the hundreds the usual extrapolation of these hundreds is that the vast majority of the population wants him removed. That is untrue. Those who like or agree with his comments do not write in to the station. Those, who are mostly Muslim pro-Hamas and Left wing supporters will begin an organized and calculated write in campaign to destroy his reputation as being “not Australian”. That extrapolation is a false conclusion to the “complaints” about the Australian opinion about Erin Molan.

    Muslims see everything as a “war” and attack under the direction of pro-Hamas Muslim organizations who get the word out the way pro-Democratic unions assist Democrat politicians at election time. They provide the people and the facilities to place calls and mail out campaign literature. The Democrat will be helped by that support but he/she may still lose. However there is no similar tactic by the pro-Israel people who do not see the Freedom of Speech as a war situation. Muslims do. And that is why they succeeded.

    And who knows who is sitting on the board at Sky News, which made the decision to fire Mr. Molan a news outlet which is known for its left or Liberal attitudes.

      • It may seem like that Graven but they have other commentators on Sky News that are quite vocal about their support for Israel.
        I have noticed that they are still afraid to condemn Islam outright but they sure do mention it a hell of a lot more than mainstream media.
        I was hoping MSM & Social Media would also suffer the Trump Effect & come over to the Right side of history 😁

    Good for her, standing up for the Truth, for seeing “right from wrong.” The police should be involved in protecting her and her child. They should be arresting those who are threatening the lives of this woman and her little girl.

  7. I used to watch quite a lot of sky news here in Australia and enjoyed it because, unlike other media, they had conservative presenters whose views I tended to agree with. I don’t have access to it right now, so I haven’t watched it lately. I think all sky news presenters would strongly support Israel and I imagine that they all would receive horrible threats. I liked peta credlin, Rowan Dean, James morrow, Rita Panahi, sharri Markson, a Jewish woman, Andrew bolt. I didn’t watch Erin molan and she only had one hour each week I think. I applaud her pro Israel stand. All the presenters there are pro Israel and are courageous and no doubt would receive plenty of hatred and threats. The gutless wonders in the mainstream media could learn a lot about courage from the sky news presenters.

    • I agree; Sky News Australia is very pro-Israel. This suggests that the firing is not about support of Israel, but something else.

      In any case, TV news is a dinosaur that is quickly going extinct. Erin would be able to find more followers and success in the new media landscape.

      • I agree Brett. I am sure all those commentators would get threats. Maybe Erin molan didn’t matter much to sky because only did one hour each week. I have heard the brave Rita panahi mention getting hate mail and laughing it off. I agree that the mainstream appeasing type media are becoming dinosaur like

      • You are welcome, gravenimage. I admire many of the sky news commentators. I came across Andrew bolt first, maybe 15 years ago and he is courageous and won’t take a backward step. I had an enjoyable Christmas near one of Sydney’s loveliest beaches, Coogee, with family. I hope you and your husband had a good Christmas. At Christmas I was talking to my sister about San Francisco because, way back in 1982, she had an Australian government job there and I visited her there for a short while.

    • That’s the impression I got, looking at Sky News Australia’s YouTube page and the type of guests they typically have on. Unlike Sky News UK, which is pretty bad, which is why GBNews came along (and even they are wimps, given how they treated Lawrence Fox and Dan Wootton), Sky News Australia seems more similar to its US (FNC/FBN) than its British cousin. I was therefore surprised to see this news of Erin Molan being fired

      That said, today, individual podcasts on YouTube, Rumble or even the audio-only versions available on Apple, Spotify & other places, are the way to go. She should be successful doing her own, and get a considerable following in Australia. In fact, the other beauty of podcasts is that one gets to follow any podcaster wherever they are, courtesy the internet

      • Yes, infidel, I suspect that Erin molan will be able to find an audience on some type of social media. Sky news definitely have commentators here in Australia who have courage and have sensibly conservative views. They are all hatred by the left wing mob in Australia.

Allah in Quran 9:111 says, “Surely Allah has purchased from the believers[Muslims] their souls and their money so that they may have the garden[Heavenly Paradise].   13. I Agree with Tim gallagers comments concerning the names he has mentioned regarding Sky news. I quite often watch it and have always loved the way they have stuck up for Israel. I used to watch The Bolt Report on TV years ago , and remember Sharri Markson being a guest many times and being Jewish herself can’t imagine her working for Sky News if they are anti-semitic.I have watched Andrew Bolt, Rowan Dean also Sharri Markson livid as to not only what happened to the Jews in Gaza on the 7th October, but also the way the dumb useful brain dead idiots even here in Australia demonstrate about a history they know absolute squat about. Therefore it would seem to me that there has to be more to Erin Molan being fired

  15. Australia has always teetered on the brink of socialism. Erin’s firing now brings them over the edge. So sad, for such a feisty bunch of “diggers” to lose their spirit and give in to wokeness.
