Tulsi Gabbard has just been appointed as the Director of National Intelligence. She has criticized the Biden administration for not being sufficiently supportive of Israel since October 7, 2023. She has spoken out about Islamic terrorism. She is a Hindu — she was sworn in as a congresswoman on a copy of the Bhagavad Gita — and that may mean she is aware of what the centuries of Muslim rule meant for the Hindus of India.
She was once a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, and even ran for president in 2020 in the Democratic primary. But since then she has had a road-to-Damascus conversion, and become a Republican. More on Tulsi Gabbard can be found here: “Trump selects Tulsi Gabbard to be director of national intelligence,” by Marc Rod, Jewish Insider, November 13, 2024:
…Gabbard, a military veteran, has been critical of the Biden administration for being insufficiently supportive of Israel since Oct. 7. She has been vocal against Islamic terrorism and has expressed strong support for the Jewish state, including at a speech at a Christians United for Israel conference during her time in Washington.
To see how far she has come, consider that in the past she voted against a House resolution condemning the December 2016 United Nations Security Council Resolution opposing Israeli settlements. In 2019 she refused to condemn Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for antisemitic comments about U.S. support for Israel and voted for a resolution sponsored by Omar that aimed to defend the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. But Gabbard has since then clearly expressed her opposition to the BDS movement and voted for anti-BDS legislation. And in 2020, she even supported Bernie Sanders, a severe critic of Israel, to be President. But that was a world away from Tulsi Gabbard today; the former Democrat has been appearing at rallies for Donald Trump.
By 2022, she had moved rightward. In October 2024 she stood by Donald Trump at a rally and announced that she was joining the Republican Party. She explained that she found she agreed with the Republicans on the most important issues, including immigration. She described the Democratic Party as “unrecognizable” from what it had been twenty years before , and she attacked the “elitist cabal of warmongers” and “woke” ideologue” in the party.
She has said that anti-Israel college protesters are “antisemitic” and have become “puppets” of a “radical Islamist organization.” On October 7, 2024 she posted on Instagram that “Hamas’s horrific attack against Israel one year ago today that took the lives of approximately 1,200 Israelis at a music concert and in their homes, is a stark reminder of the ongoing short and long term threat of Islamist terrorism that continues to spread around the world today. Their goal is to establish a global Islamist caliphate, where all must live under their sharia law. Many leaders in the west have promised to defeat this threat and failed, because they refuse to acknowledge that it must be defeated ideologically and militarily.”
No longer a Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard has emerged as one of those — there have not been many — who have been warning about the Islamic threat not just to Israel, but to the entire West. Her own identity as a Hindu may have made her more alarmed about the Muslim threat to the world — after all, 70-80 million Hindus were killed by their Muslim rulers in Mughal India. She has repeatedly praised India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has taken a hard line against Muslims who attack Hindus and their temples.
Even when she was a Democrat, she focused on Islam. In a February 2015 interview on Fox, Gabbard responded to questions about then-President Barack Obama’s administration’s refusal to use the phrase “Islamic extremism.” She stated, “I think that what’s important is we look at some of these messages and some of these threats that are being posed by different groups…by identifying the single common element amongst them…groups who are fueled by this radical Islamic ideology then once that’s identified, we understand it, then we can come up with a winning strategy to defeat it both militarily as well as ideologically.”
In a March 2016 interview with Rediff News, Gabbard again criticized Obama for not identifying ISIS as “Islamic” and “Islamic terrorists” and their ideology as “Islamism.” She stated that it is “critical that we accurately define our enemy and its ideology. The ideology shared by ISIS, Al Qaeda and affiliated terrorist organizations is ‘Islamism.’ Distinct from the religion of Islam, Islamism is a radical political ideology of violent jihad aimed at establishing a totalitarian society governed by laws based on a particular interpretation of Islam.” She is not prepared to publicly recognize — privately is a different matter — that what she calls “Islamism” is simply Islam, undiluted. It is not “distinct from the religion of Islam.” Were she to do so, it would only open her up to a chorus of cries about “Islamophobia.”
That’s okay. Tulsi Gabbard knows what Islam is all about. And that realization is no doubt what is driving CAIR crazy.

I’m a bit cautious here, but hope this is a good chice. I do like Tulsi Gabbard.

I even liked her when she was a Democrat, she absolutely destroyed Kamala Harris in the Democrat primary debate a few years ago. I’m glad she saw the light, a possible future President even

I don’t know much about her, so have no opinion as to good or bad choice. But he told Glenn Beck that he knew nothing about being president before as he was not a politician. But, he knows more than those of us who have never been in public office.
Here are a few people who may be somewhat afraid of his choices.
“Death row inmates on notice after Trump’s re-election”
One of those is the disgusting ‘finger in the air’ Boston Marathon bomber,’ tsarnev ( not caring whether it’s spelled correctly or not) dyllan roof, the church shooter and robert bowers, who killed a lot of people in a synagogue.’
“There are 40 federal inmates on death row whose executions were put off under the Biden-Harris administration’s moratorium on the death penalty. Here’s a look at six whose sentences could be carried out after President Trump returns to office.”

somehistory,
One of the first things that Pres. Trump needs to do is to resend the Biden-Harris administration’s moratorium on the death penalty.

James, those murderers should pay the penalty their crimes call for…death.

Start watching YouTube videos and find the hate preaching imam mosques. Once you do, RAID them and separate them from American society. They preach hatred against us. They don’t respect the privileged right of being US citzens. Assimilate or be gone.

Tulsi Gabbard may be a Hindu, but she is a Hindu-American w/ no ties to India. Ethnically, she’s from American Samoa (which is why she carried that territory in 2019 during her run for president on the Democrat ticket). So she wouldn’t have any direct ancestors who were persecuted by the myriad Turkish jihadists who ravaged India over 800 years, but she has spoken out against the persecution of Hindus in both Pakistan and Bangladesh, which is more than can be said about the Modi regime in India. (Although it would be nice if she would speak out against the persecution of Hindus in India as well)
I would like to know how she’s changed from the time she was a Democrat. Back in the day, at the start of the Syrian Civil War, she did meet President Bashar al Assad, and the point she made at that time was that the “rebels” were out to destroy Syrian Christians, just like they had done Iraqi Christians after the fall of Saddam. Given Syria’s hostile relations w/ Israel, some interpreted it to mean that she was as anti-Semitic as the Assads. However, it’s worth noting that even the Israelis didn’t support the enemies of Assad, despite Hizbullah being one of his top props, b’cos they knew that the other side was muslim brotherhood allied militias like ISIS. It’s why Israel sat out that war, and just watched it happen, only interfering when Iranian bases were set up in Syria
That said, the only major criticism that she had of any islamic entity was Saudi Arabia. Yeah, granted, that w/ 9/11, that was some real low hanging fruit, but in her opposition to them, she also supported the Houthis when the Saudis were bombing them. Besides that, she’d occasionally manage to condemn Pakistan, and more recently Bangladesh. But I’ve never seen or heard her condemn the likes of Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, nor has she spoken out against the muslim migrants in Europe, or used that to inform herself about the perils of unfettered immigration from countries that are morally nothing like our own
Some of the more objectionable stances she took as a Democrat were when she first opposed President Trump’s Travel Ban in 2017, and when she condemned Trump’s criticism of Ilhan Omar at a North Carolina rally. Everybody has forgotten that, but she should be asked whether or not she thinks that muslims should be allowed into the country w/o any vetting. I don’t begrudge her this job – it is important to defang out “intel agencies”, but it is important that she be as clear about the islamic threat as are others in the cabinet, like Pete Hegseth, Matt Waltz and even I suspect Matt Gaetz

Infidel, what do you know about her involvement with the ‘carter’ guy who is looked to as a ‘spokesman for God’? some kind of cult, apparently. A report I saw said she and her husband were part of his following. Is she still part of it?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
I know that Wiki ain’t the last word, but as per it
It’s not clear whether she’s still a part of it. The “Mr Butler” referred to above is one Chris Butler, who was previously a part of an ISKCON group, and it was apparently during that time that Tulsi was one of his disciples. However, Chris Butler, or Siddhaswarupananda Paramahamsa, as he got renamed, broke away from ISKCON and founded this Science of Identity Foundation in 1977. I read and the weird thing about them is that even though they claim to be Vaishnav, which means the worship of Vishnu and the recognition of him as the ultimate God, there is no mention of him or any of his incarnations, particularly Krishna, in their blurb. It’s a bit like ISKCON itself, which holds the Bhagwad Gita supreme, while ignoring the larger book that it’s derived from – the Mahabharat
All that said, I do think that Tulsi Gabbard is more of a Vaishnav Hindu than a SIF follower, given her various statements over time. One thing: while ISKCON is often thought of as a cult, it is a subsect of Hinduism. That’s different from the BAPS following, which has major temples in New Jersey, London, Delhi and a handful of other places: there, they worship a person, and also depict Hindu deities like Shiva worshipping him as well. Had Tulsi been following that, I think it could have been reasonably proven that she’s not Hindu

Thank you very much, Infidel, for your informed response. I suspected that if it was *explainable,* you were the person to ask.
And I apologize for the ‘carter.’ sometimes my mind just won’t do as I need it to, esp re: memory of things I read online.

Absolutely true. Even though Romney is gone, I’m anticipating that McConnell will be the new Romney lining up w/ Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. That’s why 53 senators still doesn’t give the GOP a majority
