The presidential election of 2024 was three weeks ago, but as of Tuesday morning, New Jersey has still counted only 91% of the votes that were cast (or something) there. California and Oregon have only gotten around to counting 93%. And so, several times a day, the popular vote totals for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris continue to be adjusted. Trump still has a comfortable lead, but Harris has (surprise, surprise) been steadily narrowing that lead. On what is quaintly still referred to as Election Day, Trump’s popular vote lead was about 4.5 million; now it’s down to 2.4 million and decreasing, but should still hold. The real question is: What happened to the four million voters who turned out for Old Joe Biden in 2020 but were nowhere to be found in 2024.
In 2020, 158,614,475 votes were officially cast. After deftly campaigning from his basement and saying and doing very little, Old Joe Biden received 81,286,454 and became, as Stephen Kruiser unforgettably dubbed him, “President LOL Eighty-One Million.” Trump got 74,225,926, and the rest were divided among the usual gang of self-important narcissists, head-in-the-clouds idealists, and incorrigible exhibitionists who run for president every four years.
By contrast, in 2024 thus far there have been 154,429,610 votes counted, or actually, a couple of hundred thousand more than that since the source doesn’t have the very latest totals for Trump and Harris as of yet. Decision Desk HQ currently lists 77,070,008 votes for Trump and 74,640,033 for Harris. There’s no telling how long the vote counting is going to go on, but it seems safe to say that we must be reaching the end, and that therefore we can conclude that roughly four million fewer votes were counted in 2024 than in 2020.
This is unprecedented in recent electoral history. In 2016, 137,143,218 votes were cast, which means that in 2020, fully 21 million people voted who had not done so in the previous election. In 2012, there were 129,237,642 votes. That represented a slight downturn from 2008, when there were 131,473,705 votes. In 2004, the total was 122,303,590. In 2000, it was 105,425,985.
Thus throughout this century, there has been a steady rise in the number of votes cast in presidential elections, with one reduction in 2012. 61.6% of eligible voters turned out to vote in 2008, with only 58.6% showing up four years later, so the lessening of voter interest likely explains why there were fewer votes cast in 2012 than in 2008.
By any standard, however, 2020 was an anomaly. Turnout was high, with 66.6% of eligible voters casting ballots. Yet with voter interest even higher in 2024 and nationwide reports of massive turnouts, four million fewer votes were cast.

Joe did not get 81 million votes. If he did, we are to believe that he under-performed Obama in most voting districts, which is what one would reasonably expect, in most places – New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, et al. Excepting in places where he had to outperform Obama to carry the states that he had to win if he were to snatch the White House from President Trump.
So Obama got more votes than Biden in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston,….
But Biden got more votes than Obama in Philly, Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix and Milwaukee….
I can believe that Biden lost something like 15 bellweather indicators but still won the White House. That’s more of a coincidence, and more believable. However, it’s next to impossible to digest the claim that he got more votes than Obama in exactly the cities/states that he had to in his quest for the White House

Remember the voting machines that wanted biden to *win* and flipped the triggers all on their own….exp in AZ where the counting was over before all of the polls closed.

What happened this time is the trucks turned up in the middle of the night with the extra 4 million votes ready to flip the swing states to the Democrats, but there were people out the front this time & turned them away. It cost the Republicans hundreds of millions in legal fees to do it this time, but it was worth it. No graph going straight up at 3:00 AM for the Dems this time.
And so went the Democrats plans for rigging the election again, and they lost.

I think that another thing that changed this time is that Republicans learned the lessons of 2022 Arizona, where they saved themselves to vote on voting day, only to find a breakdown of voting machines. So this time, a lot of Republicans – not sure whether it was most – bought into early voting or vote by mail and voted early That saved a lot of the effort of vote prospectors, b’cos if Todd had already voted, there was no need to chase him to ensure that he votes, and one could expend one’s efforts on other people, or in other places
As a result, Republicans went into November 5th w/o the usual vote deficit magnitude that they have via a vis Dems, who vote early.. And on Election Day itself, those Republicans who still believed only in voting on Voting Day got to vote, since there was no longer that pressure. In the meantime, the Dems were totally uninspired by Kamala, and so may or may not have turned up in the needed numbers
The Dems may or may not have tried to rig this election as well, but for a rigging campaign to be successful, they do have to first ensure that all of their base turns up

Democrats are not counting votes they are figuring out from a list who didn’t vote and then submitting a ballot 9for the democrat) in their names. Our election security is an un-funny joke. Democrat areas are the only areas where they have to keep counting and counting and counting. It is all so obvious that I have to believe many republicans are A-ok with it. It is either that or many republicans are just plain stupid.

I know this because I switched to Independent and for the first time in my life I began to get democrat mailers. One even knocked at my door a month or two before the election.
