Pope Francis condemns ‘arrogance of occupiers in Palestine and Ukraine’

It is an egregious misnomer to compare Israel’s battle against jihadists to Russia and Ukraine. The Israelis are not “occupiers in Palestine.” as Pope Francis calls them. Israel is protecting its country from obliteration by jihadists, who make no secret of their intentions. October 7 was a savage attack, and Hamas intended it to be a show of more to come.

The pope, intentional or not, is fueling antisemitism, despite his open condemnation of antisemitism.

Pope Francis condemned on Monday what he called the “arrogance of occupiers” in Ukraine and Palestine in a rare stance against Israeli policy and a week after he first addressed the allegations of genocide levelled against Israel. Speaking at the Vatican on the 40th anniversary of the peace treaty between Chile and Argentina, the Roman Catholic pontiff spoke of “current armed conflicts” and the “very painful suffering” they cause.

“I simply recall two failures of humanity today; in Ukraine and Palestine, where suffering is great and the arrogance of the occupier undermines dialogue,” he told diplomats and religious representatives in an improvised statement. He again criticised the arms trade, referring to the “hypocrisy of talking about peace while waging war.” Dialogue, added the pontiff, must be the essence of the international community.

The Pope regularly offers prayers for the civilians in Gaza and Ukraine “who are suffering greatly” as well as for the release of the Israeli captives held by Hamas since the movement’s unprecedented cross-border incursion on 7 October, 2023. He received 16 former Israeli hostages on 14 November at the Vatican.

Last week, Pope Francis suggested that the global community should study whether Israel’s military campaign in Gaza constituted genocide of the Palestinian people, in some of his most explicit criticism yet of Israel’s conduct in its year-long war.

In a new book, Hope Never Disappoints. Pilgrims Towards a Better World, the leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Roman Catholics said, “According to some experts, what is happening in Gaza has the characteristics of genocide.”…

      He must have seen the same video I saw where someone pulled half a baby (who was clearly a Jihadist)out of a pile of rubble.
      Or maybe the one where Israeli politicians were debating whether it’s ok to sodomize prisoners.
      We should forgive him.
      It’s understandable how things of this nature could be taken out of context like some of the seemingly awful things people cherry pick from the Talmud.

      • He’s too busy ignoring the actual sodomization of political prisoners with broom handles in the Islamic world, prohibiting the global south from getting control of their birth rates by discouraging safe sex, shuffling pedo priests around, and sending out the death squads in the name of the lord while watching videos of adults cutting off heads, eating hearts, and keeping yazidi sex slaves.

        We have all seen the videos of the good Catholics sewing faces onto soccer balls to intimidate the opposition while other good Catholics use cheese wires to snuff out the opposition. All in the name of the lord of course. After all, god’s on his side – the Bible says so.

          That being said, I don’t dispute anything you wrote. I think the Pope is insufferable. He is, however, correct about Israel.

          At any rate, condemning Israel’s “self defence” strategies does not make him either.
          Conflating criticism of Israel with hatred of Jews is along the same lines as conflating legitimate criticism of Islam with “Islamophobia”.

    The rest of the world believes no such thing.

    Why should Israel listen to him? They are Jews; he is not the leader of Jews. Why should Russia listen to him? Putin is no Catholic. How many Russians are?

    Thankfully, he knows nothing about me, so I don’t have to worry that he might ‘say a prayer’ to his god. If I lived in Gaza, I’d write him a letter and tell him just what I think of his “prayers.” and to whom they go.

    This creature believes he is in charge of things, Catholic and non. Someone with a loud voice, should direct him to take a long walk on a short pier. And take his book along.

    From the beginning I have followed Ukraine war from both sides and Ukraine in regards to Kiev and the evil. The fool Zelensky support 1930s style Nazism and his actions prove, if you are following what’s going on outside U.S. DC Communist propaganda.     As far as Palestine is concerned, it never existed except in recent political history. There is no reference to it in history with the exception of the Roman Empire who loved to rename things and Palestine is no exception. If you examine the historical maps of the past you will fined it overlays Judiah and surrounding area. The Roman Empire hated Israel of which Judah (Aka Jews) is one of the 12 tribes of Israel and therefore Palestine was created to spite Gods people.

    This is just a snippet of history and the truth is, of course, unpopular where propaganda (political false truth) abounds.

  8. Maybe this old pope is so far off into senility that he makes Biden look like an intelligent man. That is some kind of a miracle. This pope and his friendliness with Muslims, who hate all non Muslims is very disturbing. He must be getting advice and so a whole bunch of fellow idiots high up in the Catholic church must also be ignorant fools and soft on Islam. Fortunately most Catholics would just ignore his stupid view of things. He should retire. Maybe even join Islam since he thinks it is so peaceful.

      • As other people have said, somehistory, I see this pope as trendy, leftist, Marxist champion of the whole woke agenda. I guess that he has installed a bunch of fellow leftist fools in top positions in the Catholic church. Like many Catholic type Christians I ignore him. I loathe his sucking up to Islam especially look, he is probably sincere in his view of things, but, to my mind, is an idiot on Islam.   12. Which area of Palestine is under occupation by Israel? While the IDF is in Gaza, it can not be called occupation, because it is a war. The west bank is under PA authority.
    So this commie Pope must be refering to the current Israel area as under occupation by the Israelis. He clearly defy what the Bible says. How come this anti Bible guy is the Pope of Catholic Church?

    • Because in Latin America, there had been a large shift (still ongoing) from Spanish and Portuguese speaking Catholics towards other religions (especially to evangelical Protestantism, but also towards the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Mormons and even Islam), and also to irreligion.

      So, the Catholic Church thought it would be a good idea to elect a Pope from Latin America. The problem though, it that this Pope behaves as though he smokes too much dope. If he only drank a little wine or Grappa, that would be better.

It made me think about how the tough polish pope, John Paul ii would have dealt with Islam and the atrocious, evil actions of Muslims in recent years. I reckon he would have called out Islam as evil it so clearly is. I think he would seen Islam clearly and not pussy footed around unlike this present weasal of a pope

  22. I’am sure there are innocent people in Gaza that have died and suffered from the actions of Israel in this war. As there were in Israel when Gaza attacked and killed innocent people to START this war.

    The people and leaders of Gaza brought this on themselves. They started this war.
