Netflix has made a movie about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and they’re getting a lot of heat for it. In light of what Netflix is and the general state of religious awareness these days, it’s likely to be dreadful, but that’s not why it’s getting heat. Leftists are enraged because Noa Cohen, an Israeli actress, has been cast as Mary. Why, how dare those MAGA Republican white supremacists over at Netflix cast a Jewish woman to play…a Jewish woman! It’s an outrage!

The term “Palestinian” is modern. The region was not called that by anyone in the first century AD. And why it would be “obvious” that the mother of Jesus was an Arab is a little less clear than mud. She was a Jew, like her husband and like her famous son. That’s why the parents took their son to the Temple in Jerusalem to be circumcised.

Christians, Jew and non, are followers of Christ, but He does not follow Himself.

This should not surprise anyone who has been paying any attention lately.
Jews are hated by many people, even some who claim to follow Jesus Christ. (Making a claim does not make the claim real in and of itself)
Many who claim to be Christian do not ,and have not, studied the Bible, so if their pastor, minister or priest hates the Jews, they will likely do the same. Some preach that the Jews killed Jesus.
The Truth of that is that the High Priest, and the Sanhedrin, Pharisees and Scribes handed Jesus over to Pilate for that Roman ruler to put Jesus to death.
The reason for this: Jesus told the Truth and those *leaders* didn’t like that because it threatened their livelihood. It threatened their standing with the public. Jesus pointed out to the crowds that the Pharisees and others who opposed Him were “serpents, whitewashed graves, dirty cups.”
These leaders then used the Romans to eliminate Jesus because, as the Bible record says, ‘they were afraid of the crowds’ turning on them if they killed Him outright.
Jews living since then had nothing to do with that long-ago murder of a Righteous Man. But, some still hold the Jews to blame for Jesus’ death.
Now, with the modern thingy of males pretending to be female, and some females pretending to be male and some others pretending they are cats or other animals, Truth, as John Denver sang, “is hard to come by.”
Mary was a Jew. Her cousin, Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptizer, was a Jew and John’s father were of the Tribe of Levi, the priestly tribe.
Mary married Joseph, who was of the tribe of Judah, the tribe of the Kingship (David’s line).
These gave Jesus His authority as both King and Priest.
All of Jesus’ family members were Jews; all of His friends, His disciples, His apostles were; all Jews.
Many people who claim to follow Him, love the Psalms and Bible stories such as Jonah and the fish, David fighting Goliath, Noah building the Ark, etc. All written by and about Jews, and faithfully copied by Jews. (Abraham’s line began with Noah’s son Shem)
But, like males pretending to be female, those who hate can insist that Mary was not a Jew and they expect, like the males planting themselves on girls’ teams and in lockers, to be heard and their wrong ideas to be accepted.
No number of arguments citing Truth will sway them because it’s what they want to believe. And those who object to a Jew representing a Jew, want to believe lies.
