On November 22, 85,000 people, mostly students from Concordia and McGill Universities, as well as Dawson College, along with members of the 244,000-strong Muslim community in the city, came out on the streets of Montreal to chant their hatred of Israel and their desire to see the Jewish nation destroyed, to be replaced by a 23rd Arab state. Some denounced Israel for “ethnic cleansing” and “genocide” — charges that are both absurd and disgusting, considering the immense effort the IDF puts into warning civilians away from sites about to be targeted. The marchers, burning Israeli flags and holding signs promising to destroy the Jewish state, soon started to chant antisemitic slogans. Some in the mob told Jewish passersby that “the Final Solution is coming to you.” Many chanted “Death to Jews.” Others made the Hitler salute. In recent weeks, Jewish businesses have been vandalized, shots fired at Jewish schools, and synagogues have had to be guarded round the clock by enhanced security details.

Following the antisemitic riots in Montreal last week, the Canada-based Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs called on the Canadian government to take action against rising antisemitism.CIJA laid out five specific actions.
First, CIJA called for the convening of a national forum on combating hate crimes, terrorism, and antisemitism. This would bring together federal, provincial, and municipal leaders with law enforcement with the aim of coordinating efforts and ensuring that anti-hate legislation is enforced.
Second, CIJA called on the government to strengthen its enforcement of hate crime laws and that charges be enacted against those promoting violence or inciting hate against Jews.
Third, CIJA asked that the training of law enforcement and judicial enforcement be improved so that officials are better equipped with the tools to recognize and target antisemitism, using the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism as the baseline….
Seventy percent of all religion-motivated hate crimes in Canada target Jews.
In a poll conducted by CIJA, 82% of Canadian Jews revealed that they felt that Canada is less safe for Jews than it was before October 7, and 80% are concerned about antisemitism.
Thirty-six percent said they had been targeted (themselves or a member of their family) by antisemitic remarks since October 7.
Seventy-five percent said they felt local police should be doing more to combat antisemitism in Canada, and 85% said they thought that the government should be doing more.
These are depressing figures. Four-fifths of Canadian Jews are now “concerned” about antisemitism, more than four-fifths think Canada is less safe for Jews since October 7, and more than one-third have themselves been the target of antisemitic remarks.
The Trudeau government has been distinctly unfriendly to Israel — as in its immediate announcement that it will honor the ICC arrest warrants issued for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. And this has set a tone that only encourages others to express their own anti-Israel animus, which then has morphed into blatant antisemitism. The government can no longer be so blasé about the matter; it has to grasp the nettle of antisemitism, and strictly enforce hate crime laws. Judges should be encouraged to give long sentences to those guilty of hate crimes — 70% of such crimes target Jews. It should make Holocaust education mandatory in Canadian schools. At all levels of government, law enforcement personnel should be trained to recognize antisemitic speech and acts. Canadian universities, where so much anti-Israel and antisemitic activity goes on, should be required to monitor, and report to law enforcement, all antisemitic activity, and be required to expel any student found guilty of hate speech or other antisemitic crimes. The government should also provide enhanced security for synagogues and Jewish schools, paid for by the state rather than having those institutions bear the cost themselves.
This is a start. These undertakings may help to lessen the worries of Canadian Jewry. But the campaign to suppress expressions of the oldest hatred , and to promote education that discourages antisemitism, has to be continuous and relentless, and led by someone who keenly sympathizes with both the Jewish state and the Jewish people. Justin Trudeau is not that someone. Fortunately, Trudeau is wildly unpopular. Even members of his own party have asked him to step down so that the Liberal Party will have a chance in the 2025 election, but he has refused. His term ends next year.
Trudeau’s successor will likely be the Conservative Party’s Pierre Poilievre. Poilievre has always been a strong supporter of Israel without any reservations or doubt. He has said that an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities would be “’a gift by the Jewish state to humanity.” He has just blasted Trudeau for promising to enforce the ICC arrest warrants issued for Netanyahu and Gallant. If he becomes prime minister, which is now quite likely, as three-quarters of Canadians now disapprove of Trudeau —Poilievre will do everything he can to satisfy these most reasonable requests of the CIJA, should Trudeau not have done so in the meantime. So hold on, Jews of Canada: the Conservative Party’s cavalry — a one-man multitude named Pierre Poilievre — is almost certainly coming.

Jew–hatred in Canada has gotten this bad due in-part to CIJA’s early lack of willingness to combat it. Yes, they are finally stepping-up, but they have to fight harder. Our government leaders must be called to task for ensuring the safety of it’s citizens and Liberal Democracy.

Well, I think not many Canadians did vote for him. Around 33% of voters, and turnout was lower than normal–perhaps due to the Conservative party having at that time no real solid inspiring leader. The system is different than the U.S., so his party still managed to squeak in via riding members elected who were Liberals, but as a minority gov’t. Then he formed an unholy alliance with Jagmeet Singh, the leader of the NDP (socialist, more than Liberals, but they are closer than they used to be by far!). Between the two of them, they defeat what the official opposition, the Conservatives led by Poilievre, try to bring about in parliament. This is my understanding of it. Someone who knows more can correct me if I’m wrong.
At any rate, most agree, Trudeau is going down as PM of Canada. I believe a PM is not limited to two terms, as it is in the U.S. So theoretically he COULD be elected again, but hopefully the next year will be his last in power. He is very unpopular, talking to Canadians, I can’t see him winning, or even his party picking him as leader. I’ve seen the videos of him being protested just about everywhere he goes.
He does uphold Islam, as most Leftists do.

Trudeau’s brother Sascha became Muslim in 2004. Justin was led to Islam by his brother in 2009. At every mosque he visits he recites the shahada the Muslim conversion prayer in Arabic. He also wears muslim garb while celebrating Ramadan at his Wahhabi Montreal mosque.

I think it is a little bit hypocrite and selfish if a certain group of people only complain when they receive bad treatment while they are silent when others receive the same, especially when the muslims are the perpetrators. And stupid too. Islam not only attacks the Jews but also other non muslims, so all non muslims shoul focus on Islam, not on the antisemitism or such.

In France, lots of Christians have been attacked by Muslims, that comes to mind. However, in North America, this has not been as obvious. The huge population of Muslims in the smaller geographically, but dense population-wise areas of Europe makes it clear that Islam wants to take over everyone!
Now, in North America, this is a relatively new phenomenon, 911 notwithstanding. I mean scale of numbers of Muslims, and numbers of attacks. The Muslim population has only recently mushroomed.
Very recently–2023–saw the October 7 attack, and like whiplash, the backlash AGAINST the ones attacked. By enlisting Leftists, misguided Wokesters and activists, students and other rebels w/o a cause INTO Jihad, even if they don’t realize it, the Jihadists are hacking the population. As these groups can help turn the tide against the Jews and Israel. It’s like hiring mercenaries without having to pay them.
Along with all of this, conveniently, theories about “Fake jews” and “Jews secretly ruling the world” go viral via internet and alternative media. Pundits claim Israel is the cause of all our problems and will drag us all into WW3. Never mind who attacked Israel. Forget that part.
It’s easier than one might think to whip up antisemitism which might be already latent in some “Christian” sects whose founders were antisemites. Martin Luther was such a one. Add the woke and Fascist Nazi groups. Once they all turn on Israel and the Jews, then Islam can turn on them.
At same time, non-Jews will be divided amongst themselves, and therefore easier to conquer once the Jews are taken care of, and Islamists can turn their full attention on “Crusaders”. Doesn’t matter what you actually believe. Woe to the “useful idiots” who are arm in arm with Hamas at the campus and street protests. They won’t know what hit them, wherever Islam is able to eventually, sequentially, dominate and exterminate.
So the Islamic focus in the New World is against the Jews at this time, and not other groups. Even in Europe at this time, it has flamed up into full-on pogroms. They see the Jews as being in a weaker position than “Christians” at large as well, being fewer in number, and also having so many people being antisemitic, it makes sense to go for them first.
And let me remind everyone again of the Muslim saying:
“First comes Saturday, then Sunday.”
In other words, attack the Jews first and subdue them, then take care of the Christians. “Christians” or “Crusaders” are anyone living in America, or countries where Christianity has been the major religion, everywhere from Russia to Greece to Mexico to USA to New Zealand, etc. But that’s a much bigger job than attacking the Jews, plus, they want to take Jerusalem away from Jews and thereby from Christians, as it is holy to both.
Thus, JEWS come first in jihad. Maybe in the Koran as well. Lots of repulsive verses about both in there, but more verses abusing Jews I think. Remember Jews are also descendants of Abraham, and not from Ishmael but from Isaac through Jacob. The jealousy of family is there in many of these groups from the Middle East, who also claim descent from Abraham, through Ishmael, and through Esau, fraternal twin of Jacob in the Bible and maybe in the Islamic lore as well.
