Saying that Jesus was from Palestine betrays an ignorance of history. As “The Palestinian Delusion” explains, in the year 134AD, the Romans expelled the Jews from their homeland of Judea (“land of the Jews”) after the Bar Kokhba revolt and renamed the region Palestine. That was 100 years after Jesus, who lived in Judea. When he was crucified, the Roman governor Pontius Pilate had the charge placed on a sign over his head: “King of the Jews,” that is, a supposed insurrectionist. Pilate did not write “King of the Palestinians” or “King of Palestine.”
The Romans had plucked the name “Palestine” from the Bible; it was the name of the Israelites’ ancient enemies, the Philistines. But never did the term “Palestinian” refer to anything but a region — not to a people or an ethnicity. In the 1960s, however, the KGB and Hajj Amin al-Husseini’s nephew Yasir Arafat created both these allegedly oppressed people and the instrument of their freedom — the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The idea of a “Palestinian people” is one of the most successful propaganda fictions in human history.
“Irish textbooks say Jesus was from ‘Palestine,’ downplay Auschwitz,” by Canaan Lidor, JNS, November 5, 2024:
Jesus was born in a country called “Palestine,” which is also known as the Holy Land and located between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
This piece of information, which inaccurately ties the Christian holy figure to the Palestinian cause and ignores Israel’s existence, is one of several passages highlighted in a report published Monday on problems in how Irish textbooks treat the Jewish religion, history and state.
The text, found in an Irish religious studies textbook from 2020 for 7–9th graders titled “Inspire – Wisdom of the World,” is part of a pattern of “oversimplification and delegitimization” of Israel and Jews, the IMPACT-se research institute wrote in “European Textbooks Ireland Review.”
“Historical references to Jesus living in ‘Palestine’ without appropriate context can contribute to narratives that challenge Israel’s legitimacy and undermine the Jewish historical connection to the land,” wrote IMPACT-se, a Jerusalem-based nonprofit that analyzes antisemitic and anti-Israel bias in education worldwide. The area where Jesus lived was primarily referred to as Judea at the time.
Other textbooks feature the discredited “Palestinian Land Loss” maps, which mislabel Jordanian and Egyptian-held territory as part of “Palestine,” among other issues….

Ireland: Textbooks claim that Jesus was born in a country called ‘Palestine’
…………………………………………….
Vicious ahistorical claptrap. I have seen plenty of the “Jesus was a Palestinian” tripe–when of course Jesus was *a Jew*.

It’s like dismissing the Republic of Ireland (Eire) as a “British province.”

Well this makes me ashamed to be of Irish Heritage I thought the Irish were Christians but it seems they are mostly Moslem. You cannot change history just to suit your leftist beliefs. Christians around the world are being attacked by Leftist Govts, but the winds of change are starting to blow, the free people of this world are starting to get rid of leftist Govts. The US has voted in Donald Trump and this is the beginning of change in that great country. I live in Australia and come 2025 we will get rid of our communist Labor Govt and usher in a massive change for Australia.

Gregory I think you mean that the Irish are more and ore Dhimmi’s.

Ireland it seems has become full Dhimmi.The utterly corrupt political elites have sold out their heritage and people.The country is run{Into the ground..} by an ill-educated constantly miserable looking Simon Harris and his minister responsible for promoting social injustice {bringing in unjust hate speech laws,Gender confusion nonsense etc}
They pay themselves well for their treachery. They serve the EU/World Govt clearly and not the Irish folk.
Ireland has one of the tiniest men in the world.-some say he is part leprachaun:Michael D.Higgins.
Michael is always happy to sign any document that takes away the rights of the Irish
For the record there ARE pro-Israel supporters in Ireland:You must not trust the Lefties-they control the media and the Politics

How would the Irish react if someone described Ireland as just being “Western Britain?”
Answer: they would react with ire!

The adversary “Satan” will do anything to get God’s chosen people out of the “Promised Land” just to make a lier out of God. With all evils impish tricks Satan will not make a lier out of God. Why??? God cannot lie.
Sad as it is, those who do not know their Bible and the truth within its pages will be fooled by Satan. Fooled into believing in man. and not what God’s Word Says. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. Jew is a short for Judean.
Do not put your trust in man, because he strings are easily pulled by the master puppeteer Satan

I agree. satan is the original liar…”the father of the lie,” as Jesus called the demon.
any lie will do for people to turn from the Truth and ‘bless themselves.’

In all fairness the Irish were ‘Neutral’ during WWII and they did allow Germans to be there. As Islam supported the Nazi’s it is really not surprising Ireland tweaks their books to support theit tacit allies.
Dave says
Both Matthew 2 and Luke 2 state that Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea.
The ancient Greeks and Romans called that entire area “The Land of The Jews” and it was called that for hundreds of years.
The Romans came-up with ‘Palestine’ and it was meant as an insult more than anything.
When writing or speaking of that entire area, the terms ‘Land of the Jews’ and ‘Palestine’ were interchangeable and meant the same area.
I read somewhere that 80% of the Irish citizens support Hamas and similar groups. It is not surprising that they would want to fudge the history of that part of the world.
Just a thought.
The Catholic Church says Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. The dominate religion in Ireland is Roman Catholicism. Are they going to challenge their Church on this?
somehistory says
This is because too many weak-willed people in charge are being swayed by mozlums and too many mozlums are in positions where they can make decisions which favor islam.
Pilate had the plaque made against the wishes of Jesus’ enemies among the Jews. The Scribes and Pharisees, and the High Priest, objected to the wording. They wanted the words ‘He claimed to be’ along with King of the Jews. But Pilate did not accede to their wishes.
Standing before Pilate, Jesus had not claimed anything.
In fact, the Babylon astrologers went to Judea because they saw a star which had been assigned to the Jews and they knew there was a new King of the Jews. They traveled for about two years to go and ‘do obeisance’ to the new King. They carried the gifts of gold….for a King….frankincense…for a Priest….and myrrh ….for the time of His death. These men of another nation recognized Jesus’ Kingship.
Because they went first to Herod, and explained why they had traveled those many miles, that evil ghoul then tried to have Jesus killed. Herod’s soldiers went looking in Israel, not some place called ‘palestine’ for Jesus.
Jesus was a Jew, born of a young woman who was a Jewess and raised according to the Mosaic Law.
No matter how many times mozlums lie about that fact, no matter how many books they have written which make false claims about Jesus Christ, they can’t change Truth into a lie.
If the Irish children who are not mozlum, whose parents have them read the Bible or listen when it is read, they can hear the Truth and reject all of the lies coming from mozlums and those who are bowing to the mozlums around them.
December is fast approaching. mozlums will ramp up their warfare on Christians and Jesus Christ, forming all manner of lies and probably ramming Christmas markets.

I was under the impression that Herod was a Roman king of Palestine, and that the name “Palestine” had already been given to the region. I just read on wiki that Herod was Jewish
I had no idea that the name “Palestine” was given to the area by the Romans in 134AD. I also thought that Judea was just the area of the southern “West Bank” – the area including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hebron and Jericho. I had no idea that areas in today’s Israel, such as Jaffa were part of it. I also thought that Israel and Judea, though both Jewish, were different areas of the Holy Land

Read besides “The Palestinian Delusion”; “Phantom Nation” by Sh’ai ben Tekoa. You get a lot of accurate history and all information is legitimate. Should be a must read for students of history before they choose their particular field.
Brian Ernest James Bridgman says
I am so pleased that the truth of Jesus’s birth has yet again been properly established. As JUDEA of which 100 years after the Master’s Death, was renamed Palestine by the Romans as an insult to the Jews.
Yaser Aarafat along with KGB assistance created the successful fiction that has unfortunately followed up to this day.
Perhaps now with Donald Trump’s future actions the whole world will become aware of the truth.
Troybeam says
Palestine, actually in Jordon never part of Israel. Ireland is making another foolish mistake by pandering to Islam.
James Hoagland says
You have some confusion. In the Mandate for Palestine Britain and France were the powers that divided up the former Ottoman Empire after WWI. Eastern portion of the Mandate formed Jordan, New Syria and Lebanon, and Iraq. France wanted Lebanon because of the Christian presence there. Western Palestine after being reduced in size was designated as Jewish Palestine. This was 1948 and Jews named their portion Israel.
There are today those Arabs aimed to delegitimize Israel who claim to be Palestinian but there was never a country nor an ethnic group so called! Read the Palestinian Delusion” and “Phantom Nation”.
Troybeam says
Per the late King Hussein stated that Palestine was part of Jordon, never a part of Israel.
Who would now better than a KING that ruled the land.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Not just that, look at the Pali flag 🇵🇸. It’s identical to the Jordanian flag 🇯🇴 except for the 7-point star in the red triangular area. The 3 horizontal bars represent 3 of the Arab caliphates, and the red triangle represents the Hashemite dynasty of Jordan. I can understand the Palis claiming the 3 caliphates as a part of their historical heritage, but how is the Jordanian royalty also a part of their identity, unless they are indistinguishable from Jordan?
The Jordanian star was added to their flag to denote either the 7 hills around Amman, or the 7 verses of the Fatihah in the qur’an. So King Hussein was right. Only that all of the “West Bank” ie cities like Hebron, Jericho, Nablus, Bethlehem, et al should be a part of Israel, not Jordan
sporticus says
‘ Pontius Pilate had the charge placed on a sign over his head: “King of the Jews,” that is, a supposed insurrectionist. Pilate did not write “King of the Palestinians” or “King of Palestine.” ‘
I’m sure that Robert Spencer intends that what he has written in the above quote reflects the well known story from the New Testament and is not meant to indicate a verified historical fact.
If a fairy tale about Palestine from two thousand and twenty four years ago was discovered and the document authenticated then that would prove the term “Palestine” was in use then but the fairy tale would still be a fairy tale.
While it is a barely recorded fact that Pilate existed as a provincial Governor, there is absolutely nothing in the historical record to show that he had anything to do with the Jesus Christ of the New Testament.
IESUS NAZARENE REX IUDEA ?
This is a slur on the Jewish people written by anonymous Roman Christians and there is no evidence that the Romans bothered to carve such a sign in wood or stone, or wrote it on paper in ink or blood.
somehistory says
The Babylonians called Jesus the King of the Jews long before there were any Christians to write anything.
If you don’t accept what the Bible says about Jesus, His birth, His trial and being handed over to the Romans to be murdered, that’s your prerogative. But it doesn’t mean that you are correct in your assumptions..
James Hoagland says
Suggest you read up on the info you claim. There are new evidences about Pilate and Jesus of Nazareth which prove and deepen the Biblical narrative.
Troybeam says
Bill O’Reilly’s Killing Jesus is a great read. He researched Roman history where it is documented Jesus’s crucifixion. Rewriting history to brain wash people is asking for trouble.
People have been stating for years especially the Muslims that the Holocaust did not take place yet there is undeniable evidence that it did happen, the Germans kept very detailed records of the Jews taken to the camps along with the tattoo number that was put on each person, men, women and children.
Palestine, a name given to people by the Romans, not a country, not anything.
somehistory says
And there are at least 20 different sources which tell the Truth about Jesus. some written by enemies of Christians. People need to be open-minded and then they will find out what is true and not accept the biased lies from others.
