Good news! Taliban to attend UN climate conference!

Maybe while they’re there, they can join in on the UN’s latest condemnation of Israel. Meanwhile, the UN, of course, says nothing about the Taliban’s Sharia-based treatment of women.

“The Taliban will attend a UN climate conference for the 1st time,” Associated Press, November 10, 2024:

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Taliban will attend a U.N. climate conference for the first time since their takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, the country’s national environment agency said Sunday.

The conference, known as COP29, begins Monday in Azerbaijan and is one of the most important multilateral talks to include the Taliban, who do not have official recognition as the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan.

The National Environmental Protection Agency posted on social media platform X that a technical delegation had gone to Baku to participate.

Matiul Haq Khalis, the agency’s head, said the delegation would use the conference to strengthen cooperation with the international community on environmental protection and climate change, share Afghanistan’s needs regarding access to existing financial mechanisms related to climate change, and discuss adaptation and mitigation efforts.

Experts told The Associated Press that climate change has led to numerous and negative impacts on Afghanistan, creating serious challenges because of the country’s geographical location and weak climate policies….

  2. One of the he problems with theTaliban is that they have no music to distract them:It’s hard to have a band in Afghanistan….. when the Taliban keep stealing and destroying musical instruments.

  3. One thing the Taliban can brag about is their low use of fossil fuels. Most of their vehicles are donkey carts.

    • Have at the look at the photo of them, talk about living & breathing Neanderthals still living today!

    • Actually no: they have some $89 billion worth of US weaponry, which isn’t known for being environment friendly

    Why is *anyone* dealing with these bloody thugs? COP29 is a fairly ridiculous conference, but still, one should not have to deal with it giving legitimacy to these Islamic monsters.

  6. Taliban must show how Islam fight climate change by praying in front of everybody asking for rain. Their prophet did that and so do the muslims when there are droughts.
    Why devoted muslims listen to the infidels who may not even believe there is a god?

    All the things that would endear them to the Climate junta. Maybe COP30 can be held at Kabul or Kandahar

    1) Spring.
    2) Summer.
    3) Autumn.
    4) Winter.
