New in PJ Media:
Leftists the world over are in tears and hysterics over Donald Trump’s historic victory on Tuesday, but nowhere are they more desolate and depressed these days than on America’s college and university campuses. Students are at an age when passions run high, and as our institutions of higher learning are now little more than indoctrination centers for Antifa, it’s understandable that the mood on campus these days is more than a little dark.
College and university administrators and professors, however, are only making matters worse by pandering to the students’ ridiculous grief, and even encouraging it, rather than reminding them that life is tough and they just have to get on with it. This is largely, of course, because those far-left administrators and professors are just as immature as their students.
The Washington Free Beacon reported Friday that “after Donald Trump’s historic reelection sent despair rippling across college campuses, grieving professors at America’s top universities canceled classes, rescheduled exams, and promised to forgive poor grades. Schools offered students milk, cookies, puzzles, Legos, and ‘destress sessions.’”
Milk and cookies? Puzzles? Legos? Are we talking about universities here, or about kindergarten? Given the academic level of these woke institutions today, it’s essentially the same thing, and even the most elite universities are engaging in this silly grandstanding.
One Columbia University professor wrote to her students: “I hope you are hanging in there. I have been think [sic] of you over the last few days. [If] you don’t feel up for class, absences today will be excused.” A Barnard prof wrote in a similar vein: “In recognition of the increased stressed [sic] some of you might be feeling because of the election results, I will offer to replace your midterm Exam 2 grade with your Final Exam grade if better.”
Another professor canceled class because “it feels a bit tone-deaf to deliver” a “lecture on modern polling methods and their blind spots” at this time of yet another reminder of polling’s blind spots. She added a compassionate note: “Be good to yourselves, check in on your friends.”
Oh, brother. It wasn’t always this way. When I was a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall of 1980, there were two days, just a few weeks apart, when the entire campus was deathly quiet, and everyone was walking around looking shell-shocked. I lived in Chapel Hill for seven years (four for undergraduate, one working, and two for a master’s degree) and never saw the campus as gloomy and sad as it was on those two days. The first was the day after the assassination of John Lennon, and the second was the day after the election of Ronald Reagan to be president of the United States.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Hopefully Trump cleans out the woke faculty here too. Students need to be busy studying Math, Quantum Mechanics, Chemistry and so on. Not engaging their precious time and youth on woke nonsense and anti-common sense.

Scrap the federal department of education, and also crack down on F1 visas for non-STEM courses. Main reason academia flourishes is that they are also in the real estate business, servicing out-of-town students who need accommodation. While there may be some out of state, a good number are foreign students, whom the schools try to entice for the same reason that businesses love illegal immigration. It means cheaper workers for companies that employ them, more customers for businesses that sell to them, be it groceries or apparel, and students in Masters or PhD courses that most locals neither have a time nor taste for
Dry up the student base of these schools, and watch them wither on the vine. Most tweens should do skills based certifications, and then work in those fields
OLD GUY says
You’re right, Foreign Students are a gravy train of cash for these schools. Most of these foreign students tuition, housing and fees are paid for up front by their government. Along with Millions of DOLLARS being contributed to the schools endowment fund from these foreign countries. That buys influence on campus and in the classrooms.

Good Grief: Universities Give Students Milk and Cookies, Cancel Classes Over Trump Victory

Damn good question. Good grief, indeed…

How would this be “tone-deaf”? Isn’t this the perfect real life example of the phenomenon you are teaching?
Then, I am much the same age as Robert Spencer. The first presidential election I could vote in was 1980, which Ronald Reagan won. Now, I have since come to very much admire Reagan–but I have to confess that this was less true at the time. I attended UC Berkeley–over all, a much more leftist campus than UNC Chapel Hill.
There was certainly some grousing in the halls before classes and few students were actually celebrating Reagan’s win the day after the elections. But I didn’t notice any absences that Wednesday, either of individuals I knew in smaller classes, or in volume in larger classes. The crowds around campus were pretty much the same size as always that time of year. Might there have been a student or two skipping classes and hiding under the covers that day? I’m sure there were a few–but statistically insignificant. By the way, I remember one student still loudly bitching about the election that Friday, and another student–and not one who appeared to be a Reagan voter–told him to give it a rest. No one got upset over that.
College students appear to be *less* mature than they were 40 years ago–and this is being pushed by teachers and the administrations themselves. Just ludicrous–and not doing the students any favors. And where do conservative students wind up in this madhouse? No one cares about *their* feelings. In the case of a Harris win they would have just sucked it up–the crazy thing is that they are being isolated by their own colleges because their candiate won. So unhealthy.

One of the silly u’s said the students would be able to sit around in circles and let go of their feelings of grief, fear, or whatever.
If a book of fiction had this nonsense as a theme, it would not be worth reading. Wimpy is just too mild a word to describe these silly people and their professors who can’t spell and don’t spell-check their instructions and memos.
Once upon a time, university students would be too embarrassed to be treated like this…as if there was a death in their family, or some one of their group having being murdered. But they seem to be reveling in their depression and grief and being treated like immature children.
As it is, they are immature adults. The question is, how many of them will do some serious thinking so as to grow up. Their professors need the same. But, sadly, there is not much hope that any will wake up to the fact of their ideas of right and wrong being skewed.

“Universities Give Students Milk and Cookies”
As long as they consume the milk and cookies at least 1 hour before nap time they should be OK.

I believe a majority of students at these places are embarrassed by this stuff but are afraid to say anything about it. They know whats up. Colleges today are not bastions of debate, free speech, thinking outside the box. In order to have debate, free speech and thinking outside the box you have to agree with the loons and their administrative enablers. Sadly, that silence, coupled with the fact that them being students there is funding the idiocy makes for a bad situation allowed to go on.

It’s a little bit like the People’s Democratic Republic of North Korea. You are told when to laugh and when to cry. Their candidate did not win. If she did, she would have been the biggest hypocrite president of the USA. She didn’t win her party’s nomination; she was appointed. And now, there is talk of lawsuits against Donald Trump to make him ineligible to take over the White House for the next four years. So, Kamala would win the White House without having won the election. This is just the opposite of what she was preaching to us–she’s all for protecting democracy in America; yet she’s allowed to rule our country against our democratic values.

Ruled by a self opinionated small cabal of their self appointed group of their elites (not to be confused with the true meaning of elite). Very intolerant or domineering views or practices in a particular area or areas.

A subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race and strong regimentation of society and the economy. Ruled by a small elite. To treat the students like children is bad enough but for the students accepting being treated like children tells me a lot about the current generation.
I have asked a few anti Trumper,s what they think Trump did in his four years in Office that was so awful and everybody replied with.. ”Are you a Trump supporter?'” .. Never a clear answer to my simple question just a reply with a question to my question and these were University Students.
The future of America is grim indeed when we have a generation of blue haired nose ringed tattooed morons that feel the need to have a safe space to run off too so they can have good old cry when somebody dares to question their thought process… And that’s just the boys…
