Elmshorn – Investigators from the State Criminal Police Office may have prevented a catastrophe in Schleswig-Holstein!
On Wednesday evening (November 6), state security investigators in Elmshorn (Schleswig-Holstein) arrested a 17-year-old who is said to have planned a terrorist attack.
According to BILD information, the German-Turk wanted to deliberately kill people with a truck at a Christmas market, as can be seen from intercepted conversations and read communications. According to BILD information, the investigators assume an Islamist background.
The tip about the planner of the attack, which came from an American intelligence service, first landed at the Federal Criminal Police Office in spring 2024 and was then followed up by investigators in Schleswig-Holstein. In March, the Flensburg public prosecutor’s office took over the case. Now the access.
Senior public prosecutor Bernd Winterfeldt told BILD: “I can confirm that we are investigating on suspicion of preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state and of conspiring to commit a crime, namely murder. An arrest warrant has been issued against a 17-year-old suspect.”
He is now in Schleswig Prison.
“The security authorities have done a good job and have apparently prevented a possible attack,” said Schleswig-Holstein’s Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) with relief. “I would like to thank all colleagues involved for this. We must always be vigilant.”

There was a horrific vehicular attack at a German Christmas market some years vack I recall. The suspect was a North African Islamist I think, but I forgot which country.
Many people were killed and injured, but the perpetrator was later shot and killed by an Italian police officer, after he (the suspect) had fled to Italy, I understand.
