Note that after the fashion of all hit pieces like the one below, Media Matters doesn’t bother to explain how and why Hegseth is wrong. Media Matters is not in the business of trying to convince people. Media Matters is just signaling to leftist cadres that Hegseth has committed Wrongthink and thus must be hated. It would be interesting to see Eric Hananoki even attempt to prove, with references to Islamic sources, why Hegseth is a “bigot” instead of a teller of unwelcome truths. He would be abjectly incapable of doing so.

In light of former President Donald Trump’s statement that he plans to nominate Fox News host Pete Hegseth to be his Department of Defense secretary, Media Matters is republishing reporting and research from 2020 on Hegseth’s anti-Muslim history. 

Pete Hegseth is an anti-Muslim bigot who has warned followers about the Muslim birth rate in states like Michigan; criticized the election of Muslims to public office; and praised President Donald Trump’s call for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”…

Hegseth makes his anti-Muslim views clear in his book American Crusade, which was released in May 2020. In it, he wrote that “just like the Christian crusaders who pushed back the Muslim hordes in the twelfth century, American Crusaders will need to muster the same courage against Islamists today”; warned about the “Muslims’ birth rates” in states like Michigan, New York, and Minnesota; and complained about the number of Muslim-Americans who have been elected to office across the U.S.

Today, Europe is sort of waking up to the fact that it has been invaded again—culturally and demographically. According to the Pew Research Center, the Muslim population in Europe, excluding Turkey, was estimated at 30 million in 1990, at 44 million in 2010, and is expected to grow to 58 million by 2030. The number is growing while birth rates among native Europeans have all dropped. Many European countries would have declining populations if not for Muslim immigration. Combine these factors over time, and this is what you get: in 2019, the most popular name in England for newborn boys was Muhammad.

Could the same thing happen in America? Of course. With enough leftism and enough time, anything is possible for Islamists. As I have reported on extensively at FOX News, certain cities in my home state of Minnesota have started to look much different thanks to overwhelming and intentional Muslim immigration. What started with good intentions (see: Somali Omar in chapter 1) and peaceful refugees eventually evolved into insular communities, internationally funded mosques, welfare fraud, culture clashes, and radicalization. Then, as Muslims’ birth rates have grown—alongside their political influence—local “tolerant” populations have made concessions. Critics are called racists, crimes are hidden from the public, and the European cycle has begun. Similar trends are happening in other states, including Michigan and New York.

Thankfully, we are behind the trends of Europe. Our two oceans, barriers to refugee invasions, and traditional Christian fabric have insulated us well, but we are losing them—quickly. American leftists insist on pursuing the very same policies that led to the cultural invasion in Europe. The unholy alliance between leftists and Islamists means that open borders, nonassimilation, the erosion of national allegiance, and toleration of the intolerable has left the door open for Islamists to establish a foothold in our country. In November 2019, twenty-six Muslim candidates won elected office in the United States. Muhammad is now a top ten boys’ name in America—what will it be in 2030? [Link]

Hegseth: “The ‘Islam = Peace’ narrative is a naive and cowardly worldview.” 

In my first book, IN THE ARENA, I wrote at length about the threat of Islamism. Most Americans, especially leftists, live with a romanticized Lawrence of Arabia view of Islam and Islamism. Islam is a “religion of peace” to be embraced by the tolerant West, they say. This mantra is pounded into our head in school and then repeated ad nauseam in the herd mentality culture and politically correct news media. The “Islam = Peace” narrative is a naive and cowardly worldview, because the alternative is confronting the reality of a threat that’s almost too scary to fathom. For most of America’s history, we’ve had the convenience and good fortune to shield ourselves from the impact of Islamism; it was on other continents, endangering other people, far from our shores.

Then two towers fell in Manhattan, and an entire generation of Americans—including myself—went to war and got a front-row seat to the reality of Islamism. [Link]

I fully understand the distinction between “peaceful” Muslims and Islamist Muslims. I have many dear friends who are Muslim—including Texas Omar, his family, and colleagues at FOX News. They are wonderful people, working and fighting—in their mind—to save a religion besieged by radicals. I don’t agree with that assessment, but they love America, so I respect them greatly.

But they are under siege. Next to the communist Chinese and their global ambitions, Islamism is the most dangerous threat to freedom in the world. It cannot be negotiated with, coexisted with, or understood; it must be exposed, marginalized, and crushed. Just like the Christian crusaders who pushed back the Muslim hordes in the twelfth century, American Crusaders will need to muster the same courage against Islamists today. [Link]

Simply put, their sheer insistence, the specter of violence, and their passionate beliefs lead many average citizens to retreat on demands for assimilation to American principles, a reality we have seen powerfully in Minnesota among a large Somali refugee population.   3. Good for him. I didn’t know about this man’s books. But thanks to the fact of the evil out to crush him, the contents of the book are better known.
    Perhaps he can convince some others of the facts. I saw a headline that claimed the pentagon doesn’t like him for the job.

  4. How very curious. I suppose the Obama and Biden administrations were also “anti-muslim bigots” in a way. Why else would they have bothered to bomb Anwar al-Awlaki’s sorry ass or had Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri killed ?

  7. Pete Hegseth will need some advisors to refine his messaging. I’d recommend he stop making the distinction between Muslims and Islamists. That’s a trap like quicksand. As the readers understand full well at Jihad Watch, Islam is Islam. What makes it different from other religions is that it is political in nature. He needs to re-educate the military about this enemy the things Robert taught them that they were forced to forget by Obama and company. I suggest he work with the attorney general as well as other government agencies to protect Muslims and non Muslims from sharia and prosecute Islamic institutions for racketeering. There is much work to do to defang Islam.

    Shining a bright light on it is the best medicine just as has been done with other faiths. We should be asking Muslim leaders what they are doing about Islam’s doctrinal problems such as jihad, anti semitism, intolerance of others generally, as well as blasphemy and apostasy teachings. Individuals are free to choose their faith in the USA. Organizations, religious or otherwise, or people that deny or bully those who wish to exercise their individual liberties should be punished to the full extent possible.

    • I very much take your point, rubiconcrest, but given how many are now openly lauding Jihadists like Hamas, Hezb’allah, the Iranian Mullahs, and the Taliban, even condemning “Islamists” is a step in the right direction.

  8. The left (democrats) are squealing about the election of President Trump being a threat to their democracy. Trump was elected in a democratic election but after the election the US Constitution guarantees a Republican form of Government. Their democracy. We saw it in the ousting of the legitimate and democratic nomination of Biden and then the installation of Harris going against the democratically selected Biden. Their democracy, the rule of elites. In our case in the USA, rule of the so-called elite, because democrats are anything but elite.

    • There won’t be much of a media for them to worry about. Unless they decide to go after individuals posting on X, Rumble, YouTube et al, as well as outlets like Breitbart, Daily Caller, Daily Wire, BlazeTV and so on. As well as individual podcasts

      Essentially, these crybullies will be punching down. But one thing that I hope the new White House press office does is fill up the room w/ individual podcasters living in the vicinity, as well as have a huge Zoom/Teams/Meet teleconference of individual podcast reporters around the country – Glenn Beck, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Hugh Hewitt, Glenn Greenwald, Pod Save America guys, Cenk Uygur, et al, and just tell the old channels like CNN, MSNBC, WaPo, NYT, et al to take a hike. Essentially, award the seats in that room based on the reach of all these outlets, which I’m sure at this point dwarfs the major news channels, including Fox, MSNBC, et al

      As an aside, I’m also glad that the various owners, be it the LA Times owners, Jeff Bezos, CNN’s owners are getting rid of a lot of people, and also that Comcast is looking at letting go of MSNBC, and Disney reportedly of ABC. It’ll be fun to see how long they last w/ no patron to bankroll them. Maybe they can ask the Chicoms or the Qataris to bankroll them and give them their orders?

        • Yeah, in my own personal circles – be it social media or family – I have held polls asking them what is their main source(s) of information:

          ⮞ Cable/Terrestrial TV/radio
          ⮞ Newspapers
          ⮞ Websites
          ⮞ Social Media

          No matter where I poll, the answer seems to be Social Media. The bulk of people seem to get their information from platforms like X, YouTube, FaceBook, SubStack, Instagram, Rumble, et al

          I would have listed Websites and Social Media, since I have the people I follow on X, plus channels I follow on YouTube and Rumble. Plus I read news sites like Breitbart, this site, and for stuff in India, OpIndia. That pretty much gives me what I need

Unlike 2016, I’m impressed by almost all of President Trump’s picks this time, although some I might have done differently (like, say, Ken Paxton instead of Matt Gaetz or KT McFarland instead of Marco Rubio). I do like Pete Hegseth, b’cos of how clear minded he is about the role of the military and several issues, such as women in combat, US military preparedness against China and so on

    A good start would be to purge everyone involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, and then purge the armed forces of all the woke top brass. Also take a look throughout the world on where US troops are, and just have them in a handful of places, such as Latin America and Indo-Pacific. Certainly not Europe, Turkey or Qatar. Nor Africa

    As for people complaining about his or other people’s experience for these posts, they need to clam up. If they could tolerate characters like Lloyd Austin, Rachel Levine, Sam Brinton, Janet Yellen or Pete Buttigieg, then they have no business bitching about anyone here – Pete Hegseth, Matt Gaetz or anyone else

This Marine veteran having read Major Hegseth’s book, “The War on Warriors” and having followed him on FOX News, jumped out of his chair and shouted “YES!!!” at least 6 times (my wife will verify this) on learning that Hegseth will be Sec/Def. Read this book. You’ll be as thrilled as I am over The (real) President’s selection of him as Sed/Def It’s going to be ass kicking time at the Pentagon.
