Robert Spencer is the author of numerous articles and books on Islam and Islamic terrorism. The New York Times bestseller has published 28 books, including The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World’s Most Intolerant Religion and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades). His latest book, Muhammad: A Critical Biography, was published by Bombardier Books in September. Spencer is the director of Jihad Watch, a programme of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, and has conducted seminars on Islam and jihad for, among other organisations, the FBI, the U.S. Army General Staff, the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and the U.S. intelligence community.
What is Jihad Watch?
In his book Seymour: An Introduction, J.D. Salinger has his protagonist give some writing advice: he says you ought to think of the kind of books you want to read, and then write them yourself. I have tried to do that in my books and on Jihad Watch, a website that explains what ‘Jihad’ means and how its actions are inspired by Islamic teachings. It is a place to inform and explain about Jihad. It didn’t exist—so I had to make it. In the last 20 years there hasn’t been a day in which there hasn’t been news to publish.
Tell us about your new work on Muhammad.
It is a different biography of Muhammad than the one I wrote in 2006. This new book goes through the stories in Islamic tradition about Muhammad and compares them to other competing traditions, showing that there are variations on practically everything: his name, when he became a prophet, who the angel that appeared to him was, etc. What the book shows is that the Koran is not a historical account but myths and legends that take different forms in different places and times.
Is it going to be a controversial book?
Of course. I honestly don’t know how anyone can read this book and, if they are rational, still be a Muslim.
You have spent your career arguing that Islam is not just a religion like any other but that it actually has a unique tendency to encourage extremism. Why are so many people unwilling to even consider such arguments?
For two primary reasons. The first is that there has been a concerted campaign for over 20 years to make people think not only that Islam is peaceful but that if you think otherwise, then you are racist, Islamophobic, hateful, and should not be around any decent human being. As a result, people are frightened into thinking that they must believe Islam is peaceful—even against all the evidence—and that they face personal and professional ruin if they do not believe this or if they publicly deny that it is peaceful, wonderful, and a great benefit for the countries of Europe and North America. It is a propaganda campaign aimed at making people feel afraid of speaking up, ashamed of their beliefs, and socially stigmatised if they tell the truth.
The other reason is because the reality is too terrible to consider. There are millions of Muslims in Europe, and the demographic trends lead to a Muslim majority before the end of the century—and the same is going to happen in North America. The citizens, the native populations of Europe and North America, look at these trends and think: ‘We are facing conquest and Islamization, and the brutal subjugation—and ultimate extinction—of native populations, as has happened in North Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere.’ When people hear such things discussed, it seems too terrible to consider. And, besides, everyone has met Muslims who are good people, so people think these claims must be false; this can’t all really be happening.

Francisco Gil-White thinks that once the ruling elites see that Islam is actually prevailing they will just capitulate and recognize some section Islam as the new state religion. Out of public view they will continue with their vices of alcohol and illicit sex – but then, do did many Ottoman Sultans and so do many of the Arab Muslim elites even now.

It’s the same reason so many insist that 9/11 was an inside job. The fact that jihadists are an enemy to all of humanity is too terrible a thought for many people.

Being Muslim is not genetic–Islam is an ideologu, not a genetic marker. But sadly few people examine the creed they grow up with–especially when it mandates the murder of apostates. Some Muslims are leaving Islam–but many will not even consider it.

I’d say that the lower orders go for it more. Generally in the UK, the ones we have either came from the desert, the jungle or the cesspit which is the sub-continent of India.

They come from places overrun by Islam–it has nothing to do with geograpy beyond this. Let Islam run riot in Europe and you will find the same.
And you often find people who are very similar genetically, but are very different due to idology–as, say, Muslim vs Hindu Indians and Muslim vs Christian Arabs.

The average, the normal, person doesn’t like to hear bad news. Most people don’t prepare their minds for things to go wrong. Many don’t know how to think the “what if” because they lack answers.
After living through a lifetime of hurricanes, the initiated will not wait to be told to board up windows, fill up the tank (never allow the tank to run dry; always keep a half or better, just in case) because that one knows how bad it can get and how very quickly it can be too dangerous to step outside.
There are always some who wait until it’s too late to become aware, much less, prepare.
People don’t want to imagine that a whole mob of others….millions, perhaps a billion plus…are out to rape, torture, subjugate and murder them. They may look at the Towers in pictures; or come across a story about some male murdering his daughters because they had dates and dressed like the other girls and think ‘how horrible’. then it’s back to the game, or what’s for dinner, etc.
Like Jesus said about the people in “the days of Noah. They took no note until the flood waters came and swept them all away.”
No normal person likes bad news. And many just refuse to consider that some bad thing is coming for them.

Consider the Gazans. Neither Egypt nor Jordan nor any other Arab State will give them safe haven. The empty Sinai is just at the exit of Rafah. There are no Dummies-for-Palestine (nor even the United Nations) protesting the blatant inhumanity of these sovereign states. Instead the hated West is being shamed into giving them so-called temporary visas. Canada (of course), Scotland (by way of its then Muslim Premier), and then there’s Australia, with a general population of about 26 million and a rapidly escalating cohort of hijabs-and-prescribed-beards of about one million. Australia is the Dumbunder country which could be the richest country in the whole of human history but has had to, for example, build a new port for ships to import gas which Australia had foolishly already exported to other countries for a pittance (Japan gets Aussie gas and sells some of it on for profit). So, Australia has granted “temporary” visas to about 1000 Gazans. The most notorious case was the visa given to a Gazan man, a mediocre painter (Fine Arts -in Gaza!?), with obvious connections to Hamas (obvious from photographic evidence and the from the fact that the Israeli IDF had eliminated some of his close and extended family members who were involved with Hamas). Burke, the Immigration Minister, burbled platitudes about due diligence and confidence in Australia’s Secret Service (ASIO) but the story has disappeared from the News cycle (pushed aside by other jihad News such as “Australian Muslims” celebrating the anniversary of the 7th of October 2023 massacre -a viscious affront to Jewish and other groups remembering the casual and callous slaughter of a year earlier). Of course it so happens that Burke is a politician whose electorate has a large number Muslims and there is a new political group, The Muslim Vote (modelled on the one in the UK), which is out to oust him and other pollies off their perches. The Gazans and Hamas have arrived Down under and they will make sure that . Australia will never ever be the richest and most benevolent country in all of human history.

Very good interview, especially covering both the woke ideology, as well as the wholesale acceptance of the propaganda that islam is good. I did find the end reassuring – that even if Europe falls, something like the Reconquista can happen, and that Europe can rise again. Only difference, though, are the scenarios: in the case of the Reconquista, sure Ferdinand and Isabella trounced the Moors and expelled them from the Iberian peninsula back into the Mahgreb, but the rest of Europe was also Catholic at that time. But in this case, if all, or almost all European countries fall to islam, will a local uprising in any country succeed? There will have to be multiple Christian insurrections in several countries – Spain, France, Germany, Britain, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, et al. A harder job than what Ferdinand and Isabella had to manage

The erudite Robert Spencer is, very tragically, on point.
Three things support this demographic change in Western Europe:
1. Unabated continued mass immigration of muslims.
2. High birthrate of muslim women.
3. Low birthrate of native Europeans.
On top of that, muslims seek positions of power in government.
By the time that native Europeans are completely broadsided with evidence that muslims do not practice a George W. Bush type of “peaceful religion”, it will be too late
The “to terrible to consider” reality will then be self-evident.
