Non-Muslims paying for the upkeep of Muslims is a Qur’anic dictate:
“Fight against those do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book, until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” (Qur’an 9:29).
The caliph Umar said the jizya payments from the dhimmis were the source of the Muslims’ livelihood:
“Narrated Juwairiya bin Qudama at-Tamimi: We said to `Umar bin Al-Khattab, ‘O Chief of the believers! Advise us.’ He said, ‘I advise you to fulfill Allah’s Convention (made with the Dhimmis) as it is the convention of your Prophet and the source of the livelihood of your dependents (i.e. the taxes from the Dhimmis.)’” (Bukhari 4.53.388)

Well, that’s one big reason the Islamic colonization of a large part of the world happened, and fast! Once the Jews and Christians were persecuted under Islamic rule, life was hard for them. Their businesses were also boycotted in many instances, this is happening all the time in Egypt today for example.
Other ways of making their lives hard were also brought to bear on the situation, including all those rules we see today, concerning the churches, synagogues, “love jihad” and bonafide apartheid in many ways. Bat Yeor has detailed many of those. Pogroms also happened, as well as forcing them to leave so their land and property would be stolen. Making life miserable in many places and times. With a purpose: To make them convert.
So their incomes decreased, because of living under Islamic rule, AND their costs increased, due to disruptions from persecution plus having to pay Jizya. The well just dried up eventually, and the Islamic Empire had to expand, and keep expanding, to get new sources of “INCOME.”
Indeed, what would they do if everyone was a Moslem? I’d say first they war with each other regarding the various sects, and by force, the winner takes all.
Let’s not forget, the slave class. The polytheists and atheists. Get them down in the minds, out in the fields, etc. and have Muslim overseers. They did this anyway, and still do. How many Phillipino slaves are there in Saudi Arabia? As well as from other countries? People who were hired and given work visas to serve as domestic help, or work in a company, and then were unable to escape, are not being paid, have their passports and i.d. taken away.
During the conquest of Africa by Islam, there is one source quoted, which I don’t have in front of me, where the conquerors were told not to be TOO hasty to get all the Africans to convert to Islam, because that would dry up the lucrative and necessary wellspring of slaves, as they cannot enslave fellow Muslims.
It’s all one big gulag for the “infidel” whatever the stripe.

Canada is having its problems now thanks to the buffoon of a Prime Minister who I hope will soon be voted out. Trudeau whose base is the Muslim vote has brought in thousands of these Muslims in from Gaza who are already battle hardened. Coptic Christians go overseas firstly for economic opportunities since ethnically all Egyptians are Coptic as she said in Arabic as she says the remaining Christians in Egypt had to pay jizya or nomad around avoiding Islamic controllers to avoid jizya and Muslims in Egypt there descendants didn’t pay but submitted or surrendered. She did not say I fled because of persecution when you listen to her and translate.

Most Westerners are embarrassed if they are living on welfare or the dole. But for pious Muslims this is considered Jizya, owed them by the Infidels.
