Wokeism never disappoints. It regularly reveals how clueless and sinister the woke movement really is, even as it justifies its activism as righteous. The latest out of Ontario: “Ontario school played Palestinian protest song in Arabic as its Remembrance Day music,” by Adrian Humphreys, National Post, November 11, 2024:
An Ottawa school played an Arabic-language Palestinian protest song associated with fighting in Gaza as the soundtrack to its Remembrance Day presentation, causing outrage and distress for some students and parents.
The song was the sole musical accompaniment to a slide show of Canadian soldiers and words about peace shown at three Remembrance Day ceremonies for different age groups at Sir Robert Borden school on Monday, according to students and parents.
The musical selection was distracting and distressing to some in the audience, particularly Jewish students, some of whom complained to the principal afterwards.
Principal Aaron Hobbs defended the selection during one of those meetings, saying it was chosen to bring diversity and inclusion to Remembrance Day that is usually only about “a white guy who has done something related to the military.”….
That “white guy who has done something related to the military” died for the freedom of his country. He had a family and may have had offspring, who may well see the distasteful words of the self-righteous, anti-white Hobbs. The song he justifies was “released less than two months after the horrific Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.”
As he parrots the left’s shibboleths of “diversity and inclusion,” Hobbs represents the rot of today’s education system. He and his ilk have abandoned their mandates to educate. Instead, they have created indoctrination camps, orchestrated by political forces far more advanced than Hobbs et al. Marxism, which is the root of wokeism, has been tried and tested throughout history, always with disastrous consequences. Free societies based on Judeo-Christian principles are the only ones that global masses seek to escape to, for good reason: they are free and prosperous. Order and the rule of law prevail. We can hope that this will continue despite the advance of wokeism. Hobbs flouts the great sacrifices that so many people made during the world wars; he is an utter disgrace to his school and country. Hobbs also forgets that people of other races besides white have oppressed and tortured through history, and continue to do so.
Hobbs will not be respected by the leaders of the Palestinian Authority, Hamas or any other mainstream Islamic leader for honoring them in the name of “diversity and inclusion” on Remembrance Day over the men and women who fought for our freedoms. He’ll be deemed the useful idiot that he is.
The “Palestinian protest song” is also a celebration of terrorism. Aaron Hobbs should not escape without facing consequence of its promotion.
A day later, Hobbs apologized, not because he’s truly repentant, but because he miscalculated what the reaction to his actions would be, and he’s now running from accountability. Rebel News reports:
The principal at Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa has apologized after fielding intense criticism over the school’s Remembrance Day ceremony featuring a Palestinian protest song.
Hobbs went on to ramble about his intention to “promote peace,” while insulting the intelligence of “some students,” saying that the song “inadvertently caused offence and discomfort to some students, and for that, we regret our choice.”
Hobbs still doesn’t recognize his insult to heroic veterans and his glorification of terrorism. Yet he’s an “educator.”

The students who wanted to complain should have recruited an ultra-fanatic muslim who regards music as haram, as it indeed is in islam, and complained to Aaron Hobbs on that basis. Not only would he have not been fake about his apology, but he would have brought down the kabash on that sort of a remembrance

Canada has become a freedom free country for many years. They embrace Islam and demonize Jewish people. Good luck remaining a western democracy.

I just hope that Trudeau can get voted out next year, and that the Conservatives get an absolute majority on their own to try & fix Canada. First thing they should do is deport all the sociopathic immigrants that they imported, be it muslim or Sikhs. After that, start a process similar to what the US is doing just south of their border

Makes sense. It flows with the effort by US pro-Palestinian groups starting a push to celebrate Veterans Day as Martyrs Day… These things don’t happen in isolation. People should be pushing back hard against this nonsense.
