Islamic apologists in the West like to insist that the Qur’anic stipulation that Muslims must collect the jizya from subjugated non-Muslims is outmoded and has no modern applicability. They don’t seem to have gotten the message in Bangladesh.
Non-Muslims paying for the upkeep of Muslims is a Qur’anic dictate:
“Fight against those do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book, until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” (Qur’an 9:29).
The caliph Umar said the jizya payments from the dhimmis were the source of the Muslims’ livelihood:
“Narrated Juwairiya bin Qudama at-Tamimi: We said to `Umar bin Al-Khattab, ‘O Chief of the believers! Advise us.’ He said, ‘I advise you to fulfill Allah’s Convention (made with the Dhimmis) as it is the convention of your Prophet and the source of the livelihood of your dependents (i.e. the taxes from the Dhimmis.)’” (Bukhari 4.53.388)
“Bangladesh restricts Durga Puja celebrations, organisers asked to pay ‘jizya’ tax, maintain silence during Namaaz,” Mint, October 3, 2024:
Durga Puja celebrations got off to a rocky start in Bangladesh with the interim government and various Muslim bodies denying permission in several areas. The organising committees were also reportedly asked to maintain silence during Namaaz offerings and pay ₹5 lakh each as ‘jizya’. The developments came in the wake of multiple reports of idol vandalism and looting across the country.
According to the Daily Star report in late September, several Durga Puja committees have received threat letters asking them to pay ৳ 5,00,000 if they wished to celebrate the festival. Several Hindu temples in the Dakop area of Khulna had also filed a police complaint after receiving threat letters.
Meanwhile the Dhaka Tribune reported last month that the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government had advised Puja committess to keep their musical instruments and sound systems switched off during azaan and namaaz. The statement was reportedly made by Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury after a law and order meeting….

There is no difference between a 7th century Muslim and a 21st century Muslim. Nothing has really changed. If you are unlucky to be of a different faith than Islam inside a majority Islamic nation you will always be in a dangerous situation. Add to the that the entire female population of that nation who are Muslim.
Muslims see themselves surrounded by enemies. That is why they need the trees to warn them “There is a Jew hiding behind me. Come quick and kill him.” Even trees must be informers for Islam. Not even communists and political fascists depend on Plant life to expose enemies.
Is this behavior paranoid and psychotic? Yes it certainly is. To rule an Islamic nation according to the dictates of Islam requires one to be partly deranged and wacko. You have to see human beings not as they are but as a hysterical religion sees them. And within every Muslim family there are enemy operatives and moles. These include your wife, mother and female born children. They are potential agents who must be carefully watched and if they step out of line, killed. Your honor depends on it.
Communists and fascists want children to inform on those family members, friends or relatives who are “enemies of the State”. Islam has rules of behavior which make knowing if a female family member has crossed the line such as going anywhere without covering up her body, speaking to a male stranger, listening to the wrong things like music and allah forbid, watching a movie.
This is a demented, sick and harsh set of rules for women, but not males. The “enemy” is known and every family has a few of them. So keep your knives sharp.

This story is dated. Durga puja ended on the 13th of last month. The festival celebrations in Bangladesh this year was very subdued, and I doubt that it’ll continue from next year
Right now, the main thing I read on X from that 💩🕳 is that Hindu boys in various parts of that country are being converted to islam, while Hindu girls are being trafficked just like in Pakistan and India

Jizya payment should only be asked from people of the book (Jews and Christians), other non muslims should simply be killed. That is what Quran clearly says.
But Islam is soooo flexible (musims are proud of this fact), so it is ok to extort money from the Hindus and defy what Allah says, because muslims can always shape Allah according to what they want.

I think that Zoroastrians are allowed to pay jizyah extortion tax as well. There used to be something like 50 million Zoroastrians in the world, but now there are fewer than 200,000. What caused them to disappear? Hmmmmm….
Akbar was actually a pretty good ruler, because he abolished jizyah for Hindus, and lifted Hindys to near-equality with Muslims. He may have also liked the sound of “Allahu Akbar,” because it sounded like “Akbar is God.”
Much, much better than Aurangzeb.

Will Bangladesh do anything to protect its Hindu citizens? Don’t count on it.
And note that the goverenment itself is restricting these celebrations. This should not surpise–note that the 7th century “Pact of Omar” prevents Christians from any vocal celebrations, including bell ringing or singing.
