Ding-dong, the wicked warlock is dead. Yahya Sinwar, whose sinister face is now known to half the world, was the head of Hamas in Gaza, and the main plotter behind the attack on October 7, when 3,800 Hamas members, accompanied by 2,200 civilians eager to take part in the atrocities, smashed into Israel, where they proceeded to rape, torture, mutilate, and murder 1,200 Israelis and kidnap 251 others. When the IDF launched its attack on Hamas the very next day, Sinwar had already disappeared into the network of terror tunnels that Hamas had built to move men and weapons undetected throughout the Strip. The IDF over the past year has managed to kill dozens of Hamas commanders, but Sinwar always eluded them. It was believed that he travelled through the tunnels accompanied by Israeli hostages under guard; they were his human shields who, he must have calculated, would offer protection against an IDF attack. And when he was finally killed, there were no hostages around him. More on his death can be found here: “Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar killed in Gaza, Israeli military says,” by , Dana Karni, and , CNN, October 17, 2024:
The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, believed by Israel to be chief architect of the militant group’s deadly October 7, 2023, terror attack that set off the war in Gaza, had been killed in battle.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that Sinwar was killed on Wednesday after a “year-long pursuit.”
“In recent weeks, IDF and ISA forces, under the command of the Southern Command, have been operating in the southern Gaza Strip, following IDF and ISA intelligence that indicated the suspected locations of senior members of Hamas,” the Israeli military statement read.
“IDF soldiers of the 828th Brigade (Bislach) operating in the area identified and eliminated three terrorists. After completing the process of identifying the body, it can be confirmed that Yahya Sinwar was eliminated.”
Two Israeli sources familiar with the matter told CNN earlier that Israeli forces encountered Sinwar during a routine military operation.
The sources said that Israeli infantry troops encountered three militants near a building in Gaza and engaged them. After the battle ended, troops found a body resembling Sinwar and alerted senior commanders.
Israel had also confirmed to US officials that Sinwar was dead according to initial DNA testing, another person familiar with the matter said….
Sinwar was the top target of Israel’s operation in Gaza, launched in the wake of the October 7 attack, in which 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 taken hostage. Israel has killed several senior Hamas figures in its air and ground campaign in Gaza that has killed more than 42,000 people and triggered a humanitarian crisis, according to authorities in the strip….
Of those 42,000 whom Hamas claims have been killed in Gaza by the IDF, about 19,000 were members of the terror group, and another 9600 died as the result of “natural causes” (diseases) and accidents.
It is good that Sinwar is dead. His death surely will demoralize the remaining members of Hamas and hearten the Israelis. But there are worries as to how his death will be interpreted, and used, by the Biden administration. It’s not hard to imagine the Bidenites declaring to the Israelis something like this:
Okay, now Sinwar is dead. You’ve got your man. You’ve done enough damage to Hamas. The group is now leaderless, and won’t be able to regroup in the northern Gaza without a leader. And who would now want to take over as Sinwar’s successor, which would be akin to signing your own death warrant? You’ve won the war in Gaza.
Now is the time for Israel to agree to a ceasefire. Hamas, rudderless, is ready for one. Defeating Hamas should not mean carrying on a war until every last Hamas member has been killed or wounded. Be sensible, Prime Minister Netanyahu. With the death of Sinwar you can call it a “win.” And with a ceasefire, Israel will get back the hostages, and can concentrate its efforts on pushing Hezbollah north of the Litani River and thereby creating the conditions for 60,000 displaced Israelis to return to their homes in the north. If you don’t take this opportunity, if you insist on continuing to fight Hamas and make life miserable for the innocent civilians in Gaza who have suffered enough, we will have to consider making cuts in our military supplies for the IDF. You’ve won in Gaza, Prime Minister. Take the win.
“Take the win.” Where have we heard that before? That’s what Biden urged Netanyahu to do back in April, when he thought Israel should agree to a ceasefire. Thank god Netanyahu did not take that advice.
Netanyahu, fortunately, isn’t going to stop the war in Gaza until two things have happened: First, Hamas has been sufficiently dismantled in the view of the IDF, not of the Bidenites, so that it is no longer a military threat, and won’t be for a long time to come. Second, that all the hostages still alive are returned to Israel.
After Sinwar was killed, Netanyahu addressed the people of Israel:
The mass murderer who murdered thousands of Israelis and kidnapped hundreds of our citizens was eliminated today by our heroic soldiers. And today, as we promised to do, we came to account with him. Today evil has suffered a heavy blow, but the task before us is not yet complete.
And he added, to make things absolutely clear, that “war is not over yet.”

It ain’t over till our hostages are back in Israel.

It will probably not be over after that. Hamas has to be eliminated first.

It’s best that Yahya Sinwar was eliminate. For Sinwar was dangerous malicious vicious and death inlecting man. All the death he infected on others finally came back down upon him.
As it’s been said “What goes around comes around.”

Walter, I below is a link to the body of Sinwar in the state that it should have been the day that the Israelis traded him. I usually don’t like to see these types of pictures but I looked because it represents true justice. From the Washington Free Beacon

Particularly since he was a part of a stupid hostage deal in the past. Israeli policy should be “take no prisoners”, so that there is noone for hostage trades

A retired Navy Seal, the one who says he shot obl, says the U.S. could learn from Israel about how to conduct a war. He said that after having been attacked, it isn’t time to have a cease fire.
He spoke to the Daily Mail if anyone wishes to read what he said to biden/harris.

Israel should now go on to wipe out every last Hamas leader in Gaza and Hizbullah leader in Lebanon. Then the only influential Hamas leaders, be it Mashal or Marzouk will be in Doha, and the only influential Hizbullah leaders would be in Teheran. Once that’s done, take on Iran
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Another thing: I heard some Israelis saying that this was their Osama moment. Actually, what Israel has done over the last several weeks has been the equivalent of the US hunting down Osama, Zawahiri, Baghdadi, Zarqawi all in a very brief timeframe. They’ve gotten Haniyeh, Nasrallah, Sinwar, and several of their successors and lieutenants
Maybe get ambitious and hunt down Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei?

Fill in the dots? He is a marked man. The good people of Iran need a helping hand to rid themselves of the muslim strangle-hold. muslims are in the minority (30%)

What’s also interesting about sinwar is he was in an Israeli prison for 20 years because he murdered 10 people. He murdered 10 Arabs the media calls Palestinians. He was not in prison for killing Israelis or Jews.
Mike says
Stive: that is quite interesting. Also, Sinwar learned to speak fluent Hebrew, yet didn’t cultivate any empathy towards the Jewish and Israeli people.
Stive says
Sinwar was one of those types who killed any Arab even friendly with a Jew or suspected of being friendly or just another Arab he hated so accused the Arab of being friendly with a Jew. The amount of people he personally killed is unknown but it’s a huge number.
St Croix says
“Son of Hamas” Mosab Hassan Yousef was in an Israeli prison at same time as Sinwar. He is the one who became so disgusted with the whole thing he became a spy for the Israelis, to help destroy Hamas, which his own father helped start. While in there, he said Sinwar beheaded another Arab over the sink, accusing him of being a traitor/working with the jews. He also raped men, though they believe homosexuality is a sin punishable by death. But they do it not out of attraction in these cases, but to humiliate and punish.
I’m sure many are happy to see him gone–on both sides.

Hugh Fitzgerald says
Not a singe account of Sinwar’s death has revealed that when Sinwar was in an Israeli prison, convicted of many murders, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Israeli doctors treated him. Israeli doctors saved his life. Doesn’t that tell us something about the Israelis whom so many have been calumniating as “war criminals” and “Nazis”?

If they had been able to prophesy the future, would they have done the same? surely not. Better to let him die, or at the very least, not exchange him when they did.

Which was obviously a mistake. Reminds one of the poem “The Snake”, which President Trump occasionally reads out at his rallies. He of course does them wrt MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, but it could just as easily apply to muslims
Other mistake was having Sinwar as a prisoner: he was one of many jihadists swapped for Gilad Shalit

unfortunately, the elephant in the room is the fact that Gaza is full of people who voted for and actively support Hamas. Israel should move the current occupants of Gaza to one or more of their neighboring Muslim countries, and repopulate Gaza with Israelis.

Also: Sinwar’s life was saved by the Israelis while in prison (for murdering fellow Arabs). They (the Israelis) detected and removed a brain tumour.
