What can Iran now do? It has to downplay the severity of the attack, pretending that very few sites were hit, that the damage was minimal, that “only two soldiers” were killed — we may never know the real number — in order to convince its own people that so ineffectual was the Israeli strike that Iran can consider the case closed, and need not now retaliate. For the Iranians surely know that if they were now to launch another attack on Israel, no matter how unsuccessful it might be, the IDF will use that as all the justification it needs for its own retaliatory attack. And this time, the IDF will no longer be bound by its earlier promise to Biden to avoid certain targets, and will likely accomplish what Israeli generals have been itching to do, which is to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Why the Biden-Harris Administration is so intent on maintaining IRI as a developing nuclear power is beyond me but that seems to be why Jerusalem was aiming only at missile and defense systems. It had the “heavy fuel mixers” that are needed to fuel the missiles, and Iran cannot produce them; it must buy them from China, and 20 were destroyed at $2 million each.

Israel must hit all targets that will do the most damage: oil fields, nuclear plants, electric grids, poppy fields if any, Mosques that are storing weapons, same for schools and hospitals. Leave nothing that is used for weapons and hiding. Tunnels as well, send Iran back to the dark ages.

The farthest target that they hit was in Mashhad, the capital of Iran’s Rajavi-Khorasan province, which is one of the 2 main holy sites of Twelver shi’a islam. Incidentally, while seeing a Newsmax map of Teheran, I saw that there was also the mausoleum of the first ayatollah, Ruhullah Khomenei. Israel should include shi’a religious targets, be it that mausoleum, the Fatimah Masumeh shrine in Qom or the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad. Those should be considered legitimate, non-civilian targets, given that they are the source of inspiration to all the Hizbullah, Basij, IRGC and other recruits used for the jihad against Israel
I do think the Iranians will try a retaliatory strike. But I wonder whether Israel has promised Biden that they won’t try to assassinate ayatollah Ali Khamenei. They should definitely try it, given their past success w/ Haniyeh. If they pull it off, it will be a signal to Iranians to revolt, and topple the islamic regime
