Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif formally appealed to US President Joe Biden for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani neuroscientist currently serving an 86-year prison sentence in the US for attempting to kill American officials in Afghanistan.
This development was revealed during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court on Friday when a state lawyer submitted a copy of Sharif’s letter.
The high court had asked the Pakistani government for a comprehensive report on diplomatic efforts to secure Siddiqui’s release. In response, the government presented a letter dated October 13 indicating a direct appeal to President Biden to reconsider Siddiqui’s case on humanitarian grounds.
Siddiqui is currently serving her sentence at a federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas, without the possibility of parole.
Letter to Biden
In his letter to Biden, Sharif highlighted that Siddiqui’s incarceration has severely affected her mental and physical health, noting concerns for her well-being, including the possibility of self-harm.Emphasizing his duty to protect Pakistani citizens, Sharif requested that Biden “exercise his authority to grant clemency and secure Siddiqui’s release on humanitarian grounds.” He said that millions of Pakistanis expected Biden to carry out this “act of kindness.”
Biden has not yet responded to Sharif’s letter. If Sharif manages to get Siddiqui released, that would be seen as a diplomatic victory for Pakistan….
In 2008, Siddiqui returned to Karachi and then to Afghanistan, where she was arrested by Afghan intelligence in July 2008. Authorities claimed she possessed sodium cyanide and documents related to explosives and US landmarks.
While being investigated regarding ties to al-Qaida, Siddiqui allegedly seized a US military officer’s rifle and opened fire on soldiers and FBI officials. She was shot in the stomach and required emergency surgery.
Siddiqui was transferred to the US the following month and charged with armed assault and attempting to kill US officers. She denied the charges, but she was convicted in early 2010 and sentenced to 86 years in prison. Following her imprisonment, protests erupted in Pakistan, where she was viewed as a hero….

Pakistan – a radical muslim country is a die-hard committed supporter of terrorism and murder. We have all seen all the crimes Pakistan has committed thus far.
Pakistan is responsible for the 1971 genocide in Bangladesh where millions of innocent women and girls were brutally raped, tortured and murdered, babies were murdered, innocent men (young and old) were tortured and murdered. I agree, but I don’t think this gang is gonna do that: they’re more likely to release her, particularly after the elections. What they should do is fly her back to Lahore, and let the Pakis do w/ her whatever they wish, such as make her their president

Like Leila Khaled and Ahlam al-Tamimi, Aafia Siddiqui is a romantic heroine to mujahidin around the world. Her celebrity will be amplified 1000-fold if the United States releases her, and she goes on the Muslim Brotherhood media circuit.
If we would expeditiously execute captured terrorists, no amount of blackmail could force us to release them.

biden and crew should consider the case of the late, never great, sinwar. Terrorist, mass murderer who was caught by Israel, operated on by Israeli doctors to save his rotten life, put away in prison and then **released** in a trade to get the release from hamas of an Israeli hostage.
sinwar then went on to head hamas and to plan the horrific massacre and butchery of innocent Israelis.
And, they should also consider what they just accomplished in the deal with russia….trading a terrorist/murderer for a basketball player who broke laws and the terrorist has gone back to his business of selling weapons to other terrorists.
And, some years ago they released a terrorist to libya who had been responsible for a plane loaded with innocent people to be blown out of the sky. They should consider how that turned out.
The mozlum terrorist may be *depressed* but she caused the deaths of other people….and will do the same again if released. Let her rot or give her a couple of shots in a closed room. She deserves nothing more…as in being released…., and nothing less.

Well, when is Pakistan going to release the dentist who got Bin Laden’s dna and helped SEAL Team 6 get him? Our so called ally. I know Modhi may be weak but he’s done a couple of good things. One being how he pointed out during his trip to Houston that both Bin Laden and Lashkar’s leadership were in Pakistan. Hopefully the goonie birds (to use the late Senator John McCain’s words) in congress will cut foreign aid to Pakistan..
