New Jersey: Pro-Hamas activist tears down restaurant’s Greek flags, thinking they’re Israeli flags

“Free Palestine, this is genocide!” she shouted outside the Greek restaurant.

A woman in New Jersey in the United States started tearing up Greek flags in a restaurant, shouting, “Free Palestine, this is genocide.”

She realised after explanations from the shocked employees that the flags were not of Israel but of Greece.

The incident happened in Montclair, New Jersey, outside a Greek restaurant. After the woman realised her mistake, she apologised and said she felt ashamed….

    • Thank you, Nienie. thank you for the lesson in Greek.
      When my father was alive and heard or read something he didn’t understand, he would say, “It’s all Greek to me.” It looks like a very difficult language to learn, but so much from where English comes.

      • When I studied theology, they made me take three years of Koine Greek and two of Biblical Hebrew. It’s not such a difficult task. Consider that in some of your high school math classes, you probably already had a few Greek letters to represent certain constants.

        But, for the record, “Amen” is actually Hebrew. It means somethings firm or reliable. “Abraham _amen-ed_ God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness” (Gen.15:6).

        A couple of years back, Uncle Kepha committed himself to reading through the Gospels in Greek. This interchange makes him think he ought to do it again.

          I have a sprinkling knowledge of the language….being told I have alpha, delta, and theta brain waves; and the Alpha and the Omega, as well as a few other words I recognize as Greek. In 2004 and -5, there were so many hurricanes, they ran out of listed names and began going to the Greek alphabet.
          And I was told a long time ago that the Hebrew word “amen” means something like “so be it.”
          I had the Christian Greek Scriptures written in Greek and I tried, on my own, to learn some of it. Without a teacher, I was hopeless. The alphabet is so different.
          Perhaps someday, I will be able to really learn more of it.

    • It’s not unlike the story a few months ago, where a woman at a McDonald’s thought that the franchise was supporting Israel, because they had some blue and white burger wrappers.

      Never mind that there are lots of national, provincial and state flags (including that of Somalia, which is hugely Muslim) which feature blue and white colour designs.

They actually look great as they share beautiful blue and white colors with the Israeli flag having the Star of David and the Greek one the Cross of Christianity. A beautiful blend of historic significance of our Judeo-Christian culture in civilized countries.

    So, maybe we should pause and try to understand why this poor idiot of a woman perhaps thought that this blue and white flag was an Israeli flag. She may have been “justifiably mistaken”! Give her a break–and a jail sentence to lean how to behave as a civilized member of society!
