A 2021 article in the Los Angeles Times asked the question:
Is there a reason I should care what the teachers union in Los Angeles thinks about Israel and the Palestinians?
These bad apples continue to cause further rot in the education system, yet they are not being adequately opposed. Sensible authorities and parents alike need to oppose them strongly, since they are agents of corruption an already decaying system. Parents entrust their children to these agenda-driven activists who care more about politics than about focusing on their jobs and doing their duty to educate children without indoctrinating them into accepting their overt bias. Perhaps they need a greater workload to focus them.
Imagine how Jewish students and others who support the state of Israel would feel about this view:
“As educators, we have watched for one year as Israel has decimated the education system for current and future Palestinians, destroying every university in Gaza and forcing children to attend school in refugee camps or not at all”
It is Hamas, Hizballah and Iran that are fully responsible for every bit of destruction that has come to the Palestinians. As educators, the teachers union should be familiar with basic history of the region, which includes the violent opposition to Jews from Arab nationalists and to the very presence of a Jewish state before it was created, as well as the ongoing jihad to kill Jews and obliterate Israel. Do these so-called educators have any qualms about Hamas and Hizballah hiding weaponry in or near Palestinian schools and using their own people as human shields? Or about teaching hatred of Jews and indoctrinating kids into the glories of “martyrdom” in their schools?
These “educators” have no place near Western children. They’re dangerous propagandists.

Simply another segment’s view of the left’s antisemitic agenda. Groups like teachers’ unions and the NAACP insert themselves in regional conflicts without a scintilla of proof their agenda is sound.
More bothersome is the continual ignorance of the genocide of Christians in Africa…no one says a word, not even Israel that should be condemning the Jihadi murderers in the Sudan, Congo and elsewhere. No one is condemning, not even Israel, the genocide of the Kurds and Armenians by the Turks.

Please let us know the percentage of Jewish teachers in LA. Is it at least 50% or more? And they support this? I guess for those Jewish teachers,Woke ideas and Politically Correct ones count more than 2,000 years of Jewish persecution and defending the ancestral home of the Jewish People. Especially in California. And there is little hope for non Jews to be concerned about Jews living under a “ring of fire” since 1948 with a only a brief respite after defeating multiple Arab nations in WW II style combat.Jews have to defeat every enemy in every war. Arabs can lose every one until they win one and then it’s over for Jews. G-D’s Chosen people seems to mean Chosen to suffer the slings and arrows of anti-Semites throughout History.

Rick, why would you think that over half of teachers in LA are Jewish? Only a little over 2% of Americans are Jewish. The numbers are a bit higher in the LA area, but *nothing* like half. Then, the head of the LA Teachers Union is Cecily Myart-Cruz–she is not Jewish.
Then, the idea that it is Jews who hate Israel is not often the case–over 85% of American Jews believe that it is imporatant for the US to support democratic Israel.

Because their unions are getting involved with things that have nothing to do with teachers pay ,benefits or the real advancement of education. The unions are trying to blackmail elect local officials officials on foreign policy. The teachers unions see fit on backing terrorist and terrorist organization ,why ? Could it be their hate of the Jews ,their hate of America or western civilization on a whole that they are trying to drum up a feeling of good will towards jihadist ? If someone could explain how this promotion ,this involvement of the teachers Union “foreign policy” will increase pay and or benefits for teachers ,or raise the standard of education for students ,or make schools safer for students and teachers , or even education more fun or encourage students to do better in school ,or encourage different students from different background to get alone without making education about what tribe or group ,or religion you belong to?

I hear of this phenomena throughout the States. When I’ve heard of what is said in support I hear absolute unadulterated Leninism! These leftists, marxists are modeled on bolshevism because they equate the US as socially on that level of pre-revolution Russia circa 1916-17 in the goal of establishing a revolution. Make no mistake this is the pattern being implemented. Obviously in cahoots with Islamic forces means the US is in big trouble socially and politically. Economically the basis of good economics has been suffocated and worn down. One of the major needs is to maintain the Second Amendment so as at least be able to defend your person and family. God help us all!

As an IT software and hardware repair tech how long would I keep my job if I fixed 50 percent of the issues I was tasked to repair? How about 70 percent? Perhaps 90 percent? The answer is I would not have a job and would never be hired anywhere else ever. 100 percent is the mandatory fix rate for us but I guess we have much higher standards than teachers who are tasked with teaching our children. To keep my job it helps that I have a functioning brain.

Maybe this Teachers Union should be working on improving teachers in the classroom to benefit our CHILDREN and stay out of national none educational issues.
