UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with Palestinians living in the UK on and posted this lachrymose statement on X:

Why not write, instead of “loved ones,” more matter-of-factly “relatives” — “who have lost relatives in Gaza”?
And why is Starmer “humbled by their immeasurable grief’? What does that even mean? And instead of “horrific suffering,” why not simply “suffering must end”? And why did he not mention, along with his call for an “immediate ceasefire” — which would leave Hama operatives in northern Gaza still standing, still able to regroup and recruit new members — that “at the same time the hostages must be returned”?
Angela Rayner is the Deputy Prime Minister. She promised Palestinians before the last election that if Starmer were elected “we will recognize the state of Palestine.” She’s repeated this many times since. It hasn’t happened yet, but give Labour time. The Starmer administration is steadily distancing itself from Israel. Starmer’s Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, announced on September 1 that a partial arms embargo on UK weapons for Israel, including parts for fighter planes, helicopters and drones, was now in place. And now there are calls from some Labour members for a complete ban on arms sales to Israel.

The world “will not tolerate any more excuses on humanitarian assistance” from Israel on the situation in Gaza, the prime minister has said.
Speaking following a meeting with US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, Sir Keir Starmer sought to make the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar a turning point in the current conflict in the Middle East.
Sir Keir told a news conference that “no one should mourn” Sinwar – and the “blood of innocent Israelis” and the “blood of innocent Palestinians” is on his hands.
He added that “we must make the most of this moment” and called again for a ceasefire.
The prime minister said: “What is needed now is a ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, immediate access to humanitarian aid and return to the path towards the two-state solution.
“That’s the only way to deliver long term peace and security; the humanitarian situation cannot continue.
“And I say once again to Israel, the world will not tolerate any more excuses on humanitarian assistance. Civilians in northern Gaza need food now.”
What “excuses” are those? Israel is doing more to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza than any other country, including the UK. What Starmer calls an “excuse” by Israel is simply the truth that the Israelis keep uttering: the main problem is not the amount of humanitarian aid going in, but what happens to that aid once it is inside Gaza. Hamas immediately takes control of the aid trucks, brings them to its own warehouses, and unloads much of the aid which will then be distributed not to the people of Gaza, but to Hamas operatives and their extended families. In addition, some of that aid is kept by Hamas for resale to the people of Gaza. In the first year of war, Hamas has made an estimated half-billion dollars from the sale of aid to those who were supposed to have received the aid for free. Starmer, like Antony Blinken, refuses to address that issue — Hamas’ grand theft of aid. Only Israel is to be blamed.
At the meeting with the Palestinians whose “loved ones” — in Starmer’s treacly formulation on X — have been killed in Gaza, how many of those who died were Hamas operatives? We know that of the 42,000 deaths claimed by Hamas in the first year of war, about half — 20,000 — were members of Hamas. Before the war, about 800 people died in Gaza every month from diseases and accidents. Assuming that number remained steady, 9600 of the remaining 22,000 died from non-war-related causes. That means that 13,400 civilians have died in Gaza. Does Keir Starmer know that? And does he know that the IDF makes tremendous efforts to minimize civilian casualties through its elaborate system of warnings? Already by March, the IDF had dropped nine million leaflets, sent fifteen million text messages, and made sixteen million robocalls, all in order to warn civilians in Gaza to leave areas, or buildings, about to be targeted. Does Keir Starmer know that Israeli pilots abort about half of their missions because the pilots saw too many civilians near the target?
And then there is the key metric by which the conduct of a war may be measured: the civilian-to-combatant ratio. The UN says that in all the wars since 1945, the average civilian-to-combatant ratio has been 9:1. In Afghanistan the Americans managed to achieve a 4:1 ratio, and in Iraq, 3:1. But the IDF has done better in Gaza, achieving a ratio of 13,400:20,000, or less than 1:1. No wonder that British Colonel Richard Kemp has said that the IDF is “the most moral army in the world” and West Point Professor John Spencer, who studies urban warfare, has said that “Israel has implemented more precautions to prevent civilian harm than any military in history—above and beyond what international law requires.” Does Keir Starmer know any of that?
When Starmer met with those Palestinians in Britain, Husam Zomlot, the Palestinians’ “ambassador” to the UK, was present. Perhaps no one on his staff mentioned to Starmer that Zomlot has said that the phrase “from the river to the sea” was indeed “genocidal,” but he also claimed that the phrase originated with Israelis using it “to advocate the erasure of the Palestinian people.” More on Zomlot’s absurd charge, that he made when he appeared on the Piers Morgan television show, can be found here.
When Starmer met with Husam Zomlot, he lent him legitimacy. Was there no one else who might have been invited to represent “the Palestinians” at their meeting with the prime minister? Or why did Starmer not meet with the relatives of people killed in Gaza without any Palestinian official present?
Here’s what Starmer might have said in his posting on X:
“I sympathize with the plight of the ordinary people of Gaza. Hamas has been holding them hostage for decades. It terrorizes the population, steals humanitarian aid meant for everyone, and sells some of that aid to the people for whom it was originally intended. The international community must ensure that Gaza is taken out of the hands of Hamas, for the wellbeing of the Palestinians in Gaza, who deserve better. The UK is prepared to do its share in improving the lives of those people whom Hamas has made to suffer.”
Keir Starmer won’t ever say anything like that, of course. But he should.

It is nauseating to hear/read constantly of goons like starmer *demanding* that Israel deliver “aid” to the “starving people of gaza.” They are not starving. Likely since some number of hamas members are now taking the long dirt nap, more of the average mozlums in gaza have plenty to eat.
Perhaps the people of the U.K. could begin chanting the need for starmer and his “deputy” who promised that they would “recognize palestine” to resign and both move to gaza, or pakistan, or afghanistan.
