Netanyahu’s words may indicate that Israel is poised to strike at the head of the snake.

According to a survey in 2020, only 40% of Iranians were muslims then (as opposed to 99% that is generally assumed), and that number is dwindling. So if there was a popular revolution, it’s fair to suppose that the resultant regime would likely be secular

According to a close friend of 40 years, who is Persian, and who visit family in Persia, every other year, only about 10-15% of Persians are muslims. He has long said, that the great majority of Persians, if freed from the bonds of islam, would be Zoroastrian. Would that they would soon have the chance to do so!

The Shah was a horrific leader though infinitely better than his replacement. Those were not exactly glory days.

The shah was a dictator but he loved his country. He had to lock up lots of people that otherwise might topple him. It was a legitimate need. The shah also was rapidly developing and improving irans economy for the people.
With all good and bad about the shah, it’s ironic what move by the shah caused the Islamic mullahs decide to topple him. What single event the shah did so angered the mullahs. What the shah did was seize farmland in vast vast amounts that the mullahs controlled and gave the vast lands to the people. That land was a fortune if wealth to the mullahs.
The son of the shah is far better as he has had decades to learn

There are many examples in history of men being a world of difference from their parents.

No, that regime change will have to come from within. Like the ones in Afghanistan and Bangladesh (except of course hopefully for the new regime to be non-islamic rather than islamic. Other countries, be it US or Israel or Russia or anyone else should absolutely avoid trying to install anyone there. Just look at Afghanistan and Iraq to see what happened

Do they still do it? I recall a couple of years ago, after the murder of Mahsa Amini, that they started doing it to the point that the clerics stopped wearing their turbans outdoors. I think the Iranian people are sensible and wont rise against the Ayatollahs unless and until they see Iran getting squeezed again the way it was during Trump

Imagine Israel eliminates the Islamic regime in Iran. What follows would be amazing. All it would take is together Israel, Iran, India & a reforming Saudi Arabia together be a new world power on the scene. These 4 nations can hold the world together in freedom even if the west collapses. They probably can even work out a peaceful balance with red china. Don’t worry Russia, as outside of their nuke missles, Russia is a nothing.

Germany thought the same when it launched “Operation Barbarossa”. It didn’t turn out well.
Ukraine is being slowly ground into a rump state through a war of attrition, though supplied with a wide range of NATO weapons. It is unkely to get through the coming winter with an intact military. NATO makes noise, particularly, Brits, France, and Germany political hopefuls but won’t risk nuclear war.
The opportunity to end the reign of the Iranian Mullahs has likely passed during the Biden admin and the increasing formation of the BRICS. We now see a growing military component of BRICS that won’t be successfully assailable without risking nuclear destruction for all of humanity. The US Congess thinks too highly of their pleasant, privileged lives to sacrifice them for the Iranian citizens who want freedom from a theo-dictatorship.
In a way, stopping the Mullahs has proceeded backwards – killing the snakes of a Medusa and then trying to kill the fully aware and prepared Medusa brain. Killing the brain first would have shut off the oil-money-blood to the snakes.

What’s happening to Ukraine is tragic, but look at what a mockery it has made of Moscow. Russia has had to import military parts from Iran, rather than the other way around. They’ve had to pull in fighters from Syria and elsewhere, which is a far cry from when Wagner group personnel were operating in Syria. Essentially, instead of being a military supplier to the bad actors in the region, they’ve become a military sink. Also, the way they’ve struggled in Ukraine shows their power as pretty hollow: if China likes, they could send troops into Siberia the way they conquered Tibet in 1949
I think what’s driving it is that the Soviets had a good cash flow from the likes of Iraq, Libya and Syria during the Cold War, and that the toppling of Saddam and Gadaffi put an end to that gravy train. So Putin is determined to keep what he has, and has added Iran to his customer list. But if Iran falls, then that gravy train is over for Moscow, and they’ll just have to work w/ Israel and whatever new order emerges in the region
The best scenario is that Russia and Israel resolve any differences, and then take things from there

I do think we’ll be surprised when the Russia-Ukraine war is over, how much we were misled by the mainstream media and the war hawks in the EU and UK. Time will tell if we actually made Russia into a military powerhouse because right now, NATO is more depleted of arms and slower to produce replacements than Russia, Germany is being deindustrialized by the high cost of energy, and Ukraine must grab men off the streets to supply troops while Russia still gets volunteers. In a slow war of attrition, which Russia is intentionally waging, that’s not winning.
