India is showing more foresight than America by banning the jihadist Hizb ut-Tahrir, which seeks a global caliphate and operates in over 40 countries, including the UK, the US, Canada and Australia. It is adept at using stealth means, including da’wah. According to the Heritage Foundation:
Its proclaimed goal is jihad against America and the overthrow of existing political regimes and their replacement with a Caliphate (Khilafah in Arabic), a theocratic dictatorship based on the Shari’a (religious Islamic law). The model for Hizb is the “righteous” Caliphate, a militaristic Islamic state that existed in the 7th and 8th centuries under Mohammad and his first four successors, known as the “righteous Caliphs.”
It clearly has no place in the US, and its threat is growing within. Yet Hizb ut-Tahrir held its annual conference in the U.S. seven months ago, and called for the violent destruction of Israel. Its American website states:
Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political party whose ideology is Islam, so politics is its work and Islam is its ideology. It works within the Ummah and together with her, so that she adopts Islam as her cause and is led to restore the Khilafah and the ruling by what Allah (swt) revealed. Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political group and not a priestly one. Nor is it an academic, educational or a charity group. The Islamic thought is the soul of its body, its core and the secret of its life.
Over in Canada, the Hizb ut-Tahrir website states similarly:

In Canada, Hizb ut-Tahrir works to preserve the Islamic identity and values within the Muslim community, refute the corrupt foundation of liberal democracy and the erroneous thoughts that emanate from it, explain and promote the Islamic concepts and solutions, defend the interests of the community and the Ummah, and gather support for the project of reviving the Khilafah in the Muslim lands.
The objectives of Hizb ut-Tahrir are an affront to all free societies. India clearly sees its threat. In January, the British government also formally banned Hizb ut-Tahrir. The UK Home Secretary at the time, James Cleverly, described the group as “an antisemitic organization that actively promotes and encourages terrorism, including praising and celebrating the appalling 7 October attacks.” Hizb ut-Tahrir is also banned in Germany, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan and several Central Asian and Arab countries. Austria banned symbols of Hizb ut-Tahrir in May 2021.

The government on Thursday banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT), a global pan-Islamic group set up in Jerusalem in 1953, saying the organisation aims to establish Islamic state and caliphate globally, including in India, through jihad and terrorist activities.
In a notification, the Union Home Ministry said the HuT is involved in radicalisation and motivation of gullible youth to join terrorist organisations, such as ISIS, and raising funds for terror activities.
Later, the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in a post on X, “Pursuing PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, the MHA today declared ‘Hizb-Ut-Tahrir’ as a ‘Terrorist Organisation’.” “The outfit is involved in various acts of terror, including radicalising the gullible youths to join terrorist organisations and raise funds for terror activities, posing a serious threat to the national security and sovereignty of India. The Modi government is committed to securing Bharat by dealing the forces of terror with an iron fist,” the home minister’s office said.
The HuT is promoting terrorism by using various social media platforms and secure apps, and by conducting ‘Dawah’ meetings to encourage gullible youth to indulge in acts of terrorism, the notification said.
The home ministry said the HuT is an organisation which aims to establish Islamic state and caliphate globally, including in India, by overthrowing democratically elected governments through jihad and terrorist activities by involving citizens of the country, which is a grave threat to the democratic setup and internal security of the country.
“And whereas, the central government believes that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is involved in terrorism and has participated in various acts of terrorism in India,” the notification said while declaring the group as a banned organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
The ban will be effective on HuT and all its manifestations and front organisations.
On Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency arrested a key accused in the Tamil Nadu Hizb-ut-Tahrir case related to spreading disaffection and secessionism by promoting the ideology of the anti-India outfit.…

The goal of Islam, in a nutshell, is a ‘world caliphate’ where Islam reigns supreme. It doesn’t matter which sect, either.
If people don’t understand this, it won’t be long until they find themselves either fighting Islam or bowing to it.
India is more aware of this than many places because when Islam spread to India, millions of people died because they would not accept Islam. This is a ‘cult’ that has been spread by the sword everywhere it has gone.
There is no real compromise with Islam. You either convert and bow down or die, in the long run.

4 years too late. In 2020, during the outbreak of the Chinavirus, India hadn’t had many cases and was just starting to shut everything down. During that ban, Hizb ul Tahrir held a demonstration in Delhi of 50, which at that time was considered a superspreader. Since most of those were foreign muslims, they were deported. However, Hizb ul Tahrir itself was untouched
I have no idea what made them pick today to ban Hizb ul Tahrir. Two state elections are done, and one remaining. But there, the BJP has been so busy pandering to muslims – latest move being special grants to madrassas – that I doubt that people who see them for what they are will be deceived by any of this. Incidentally, both Bangladdesh & Pakistan have this organization banned, as does Turkey, Qatar & Yemen. I wonder what causes them – all jihadist countries in their own right – to do that?
And no, India has no more foresight than Western countries, be it US or Canada. It has even less than most Arab countries: all Arab countries but 3 – Lebanon, Yemen and Emirates have banned it. On this last point, I’m surprised that Emirates hasn’t, but Qatar has. Lebanon is where it is headquartered: as Israel continues to shell Beirut, I do hope that something blows up their headquarters and forces them to move
