Howard Lutnick said this at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday, which the establishment media has been cravenly smearing as a fascist or Nazi rally since there was a Nazi rally there in 1939 — as if no one has held a rally at Madison Square Garden since then.
Lutnick’s call to “crush jihad” is perfectly understandable, not just in light of the devastation of Cantor Fitzgerald on 9/11, but in light of ongoing jihad activity in the U.S. and worldwide. In response, however, the far-left New Republic gave space to a Muslim writer who claims that his statement was “bigoted,” because jihad is an “internal or external struggle to do good deeds.”
It’s remarkable that Hafiz Rashid and the New Republic still think they can fool people with this nonsense. Do the events reported on here look like the acts of people who are struggling to do good deeds? The answer is yes from an Islamic standpoint, as violence against unbelievers is sanctified under certain circumstances in the Qur’an (see 2:191, 4:89, 9:5, 47:4), but these are not what non-Muslims in the West would think of as “good deeds.”
“Trump’s Fascist NYC Rally Includes Terrifying Threat to All Muslims,” by Hafiz Rashid, New Republic, October 28, 2024:
At Donald Trump’s rally in New York’s Madison Square Garden Sunday, one speaker took a bigoted swipe at Muslims—and he holds an important position in the Trump campaign.
Howard Lutnick, the CEO of financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald and a co-chair of the Trump campaign’s transition team, told the crowd why they should vote for the former president and, raising a fist, invoked Islamophobia.
“So, the first thing: We must elect Donald J. Trump president because we must crush jihad,” Lutnick shouted to cheers.
Lutnick’s use of the word “jihad” in this context is an allusion to bigoted views about Islam. The term is widely mistranslated as “holy war,” when the literal Arabic translation is “to strive” or “to struggle.” In a religious context, the word is used to describe a person’s internal or external struggle to do good deeds….

In light of the fact that mozlums see terrorism committed by mozlums as “good deeds,” it is a matter of making the mozlums admit that fact. The various imans, along with nihad a wad of c.a.i.r., make that point. mozlum imams frequently say how they are out to eliminate Jews and Christians….infidels…and how that is what their ‘god’ requires of them; that it’s ‘good.’ and a wad said he was “happy” with the slaughter of last year’s Oct. 7.
Perhaps when some mozlums think of their actions to promote islam, they *struggle* because they realize they might be arrested or killed during their ‘good deeds.’
to point out that a certain group commits “jihad’….and it must be “crushed,” is far from “bigoted.”
He said “crush jihad.” He evidently didn’t have to say the name of the group who engage in it.

Somewhat surprised and very heartened to hear this. Bravo Howard Lutnick!

So Hafiz Rashid thinks that no wwill notice what happened to Cantor Fitzgerald on 9/11, when his pious coreligionsits murdered 658 of her employees–peacefu office workers?
The problem is that this bloody savagery *is* exactly what Jihad is.

Maybe Hafiz Rashid could be connected to the “based” jihadists like Mohammed Hijab, Ali Dawa, et al, and can debate them what the “good deeds” of a jihadist are. I bet he’ll be shocked, shocked to know that the “good deeds” are killing infidels
gravenimage says
Spot on, Infidel.
This thug has also said “Zionism is exactly what they tried to convince you Jihad was” on Twitter (X). More lies, of course. Israel just wants to live in peace. Pious Muslims, not so much…
St Croix says
“Zionism is exactly what they tried to convince you Jihad was.”–Hafiz Rashid
Up is down, darkness is light, theft is charity, lies are truth…
And Zionism is the REAL terrorism we should all fear!
And I guess Hamas and Hezbollah are the most humane armies in the world.
Just like Communism, Islam has the same basic M.O. Chief is the use of lying propaganda, and accusing opponents of what it is guilty of. Such as the desire to dominate and tyrannize, a la Islamic violence aka “Jihad” and not “Zionism” at all.
George Orwell spoke against Communism in his time. However, it all applies to Islam, as tyrannies only differ in the trappings.
All are “religions” in a sense, even if they are atheistic. All tyrannies have “sacred texts” and dogmas, supreme leaders, etc. The zeal with which they work to convert and the millennial kingdoms they hope to create, indicate to me, it’s religion!
As a Christian, I can agree with Richard Dawkins on something: there are better and worse religions.
Dawkins also said, and this is a paraphrase: *be careful of trying to do away with the religion that’s there…because what will try and replace it?*
In the past he did his best to slay Christianity and belief in God; now he suspects that was a mistake. Correct. Not that he and his buddies were as effective as one might think. Still, they did a lot of damage. The rise of Islam in the UK certainly supports his second thoughts.

Agreed, St Croix. I’d mention fascism, as well, for a trifecta of violent, evil creeds.

Yes, consider the source.
Even the leftist Wikipedia describes the new Republic as “left-leaning”:

Quite aware of what the New Republic is, James. They should still be ashamed of themselves for propagating these obvious lies.
But of course they won’t be–The New Republic has also run stories whitewashing Islam like “The GOP’s Obsession With ‘Radical Islam'”, “How Islamic Is the Islamic State? Not at All” and “The Growing Obsession With Linking Iran to Terrorism”. Just sickening.

Plenty true, gravenimage.

Wellington says
Crushing jihad pretty much means crushing Islam. Either Trump gets this and is playing for time for political reasons (arguably defensible) or he still doesn’t get this (not defensible).
It’s instructive, highly, how certain “issues” or “matters” reach a point when even questioning the “received wisdom” will invariably lead to scorn, ridicule or outright dismissal. Some that come to mind are man-made climate change (bogus), the entire Covid debacle about origins, the efficacy of lockdowns, masks, social distancing, et al., the Hunter Biden laptop rubbish, the Steele Dossier Trump is a Russian spy nonsense, and, oh yeah, the global cooling hysteria from half a century ago which was as wrong as is the global warming rot presently.
It is imperative to 1) be prepared to think outside the box; and 2) be skeptical of consensus on any matter, especially when not adopting the consensus will open you up to demonization. Islam being claimed as a religion of peace and tolerance serves as yet one more example of the importance of this imperative.
somehistory says
Wellington, so much of what they do causes incredible harm. I read yesterday that some people are now suing because they received the jabs and are suffering the harm.
The climate stuff has caused some in government to hinder citizens in just caring for themselves….stoves, a/c’s, lawnmowers, etc. being banned…who can say how much harm this has done to individuals?
The “transition” garbage…how much harm has been done to kids and young adults by hormones and ridiculous surgeries all for the fake ‘gender’ stuff; pregnant people, “assigned at birth,” and other false statements?
And claiming that islam is just like the rest….how much harm has that caused?
Politicians and corrupt/dishonest media personnel are the party of harm.
It’s about time people began to tell the Truth.
Wellington says
Thank you for your reply, somehistory. You know, I’m amazed mankind has come as far as it has because so much of mankind is either gullible or actively malevolent. It is the distinct minority of our species that pulls the rest of the species forward and it is regularly countered by the base element of man, which in any age is a large percentage but it seems even larger now, and all complicated by the fact that the great achievements of humanity like the pioneering of liberty and the creation of extraordinary technology are being abused for stupid or evil ends.
Will mankind ever learn? I hope so but I fear otherwise.
somehistory says
Thank you, Wellington.. Sadly, I fear that mankind as a whole will never learn.
Increasingly,, mankind on the whole seems to be gaining in stupidity. And so much of the ‘learning’ and achievements as you write, are used for evil ends.
I recall there was a program on many years ago…can’t recall just which one it was…but it had the *hero* say something like, “It’s too bad he didn’t use his brain for good and not for evil.”
Kind of like “Pinky and the Brain,” which was always about their plans to take over the world.
But, we can always hope.
Rufolino says
Absolutely Wellington.
But there is a high price to be paid for thinking outside the box.
Most people don’t want to pay it.

He’s on record as saying in the past, “I think islam hates us.” Since everything about him is transactional, he’s working out various deals w/ different parties, and certainly did a coup in 2019 when he persuaded the Emirates and Bahrein to recognize Israel and sign the Abraham Accords, followed weeks later by Morocco and Sudan. I think he knows how to at least keep the obvious jihadist elements out, but keep an open mind on dealing w/ muslim countries that responded to his call in 2017 to isolate “extremists” within their ranks
islam was certainly not on the march when he was president. The Palestinians got their office in DC shut down, the Pakistanis got cut off as far as any aid went, and there was a wholehearted support to Israel and India. Given all that, I have an open mind on any measures he takes, although it would be useful for him to do a purge of the State Department and the Pentagon, so that they can’t keep appeasing the likes of jihadist regimes like Qatar and Turkey

I’m glad that there was at least one anti-jihad voice at MSG. The Trump campaign should avoid apologizing for anything that happened there, and move on. I saw Megyn Kelly rip it for the “brotastic” show (she really needs to stop coining new words: she sucks at them!): at this point, any woman who doesn’t like the masculinity of the Trump message is not on the fence at all. In fact, I doubt that there’s anybody undecided, and that those who are simply won’t vote come Election Day (if they haven’t already)
