“High civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel, Sinwar said.”
There’s how things work in the imaginary world of international diplomacy and how they work in the real world.
The two worlds hardly ever meet.
In the imaginary world of international diplomacy, Israel is always the obstacle to getting a deal done, and the answer is more pressure on Israel.
In the real world, pressuring Israel encourages Islamic terrorists to believe that they can win and they double down.
Here’s the reporting from the Wall Street Journal on how the Hamas leader reacted to pressure on Israel by the Biden-Harris administration.
As Arab mediators tried to speed up cease-fire talks, Sinwar urged his comrades in Hamas’s political leadership based outside of Gaza to refuse concessions. High civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel, Sinwar said in a message.
In March, Israeli commandos seized another compound connected to Sinwar. They found uniforms, vests, submachine guns, binoculars and a laptop.
Again, Sinwar messaged Hamas officials, urging them to refuse a hostage deal. Hamas had the upper hand in negotiations, Sinwar said, citing internal political divisions within Israel, cracks in Netanyahu’s wartime coalition and mounting U.S. pressure to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.
The objective of the Biden-Harris administration had been to end the war by cracking Netanyahu’s coalition and imposing pressure on Israel.
That is still the objective.
It was also the Hamas objective.
Hamas and the Biden-Harris administration were essentially working toward similar ends. To whatever extent the Biden-Harris administration knew it, understood it or would admit it, its pursuit of a ‘hostage deal’ via a unilateral Israeli ceasefire played into the hands of the terrorists and made that deal impossible.

If Chamberlain had not shown weakness to Hitler millions might have lived longer. And Chamberlain wasn’t making millions from arms production.

Btw – by the fall of 1938 the die had already been cast. However, the start of WWll would have been different.

Biden Regime’s Pressure on Israel Caused Hamas to Reject Hostage Deal
………………………………………..
Just horrifying if this is the case–and it certainly does not surprise that Hamas would be emboldened by this. Biden must be so proud of the continued suffering and endangering the hostages.
Biswas says
Absolutely. Biden-Harris administration’s role on Hamas was seriously questionable and at times gave the impression of active collusion. Highly deplorable.

Not at all surprising. Israel should simply end all talks w/ either Hamas or Hizbullah, and plow on until they wipe out both of them. Rescue whatever hostages they can, and after they’re completely done, demand that Qatar or Egypt or any other country that has the hostages return them to Israel
Incidentally, I saw a tweet yesterday that reported that al Qaeda is demanding that Hamas release all hostages. Even they know that this war is irredeemably lost, and don’t want retaliatory action against whatever surviving members they have anywhere, whether Afghanistan or Mali or anywhere else in the region

Israel was the one attacked on October 7th, 2023.
The ones who attacked – and are still attacking – Israel are the ones who should unconditionally surrender.
Not Israel.

Sinwar (the mastermind behind the oct 7 attacks) was released from Israeli prison as part of a deal to get Shalit back and look how that turned out. No deal should be accepted by Israel that releases pali murderes and terrorists from prisons in exchange for the israeli hostages. The only deal that should be offeres by Israel is: release the hostages or Gaza will face further destruction.
