A Swiss tourist was murdered in a gruesome attack at a cafe in Djanet, south-east Algeria, near the border with Libya and Niger, it has been reported.
The sickening attack reportedly saw a man slit the throat of a woman as she sat on a cafe terrace in one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations of Algeria. The man reportedly shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ during the attack. The incident reportedly took place at the Skaner cafe, in broad daylight and in the city centre, next to the Onat, the tourist office of Djanet….
Algeria has so far declined to comment on the attack, amid concerns that the incident will damage the country’s fledgling tourist industry.
A source close to people in the area made claims to French newspaper Le Figaro of attempts to silence locals.
The source said: “For the moment, it is completely hushed up. Nothing is coming out, even on social networks. On the ground, the watchword is radio silence. Everyone is complying.”
Switzerland’s Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed the murder on Tuesday – nearly two weeks after the attack took place on October 11.

Who in their right mind would vacation in Algeria? It is 75% Arab and 99% Muslim, the Sunni variety (not that it matters with respect to slicing the necks of infidels). Tourism could have been a big boon for them. In fact Algeria has made efforts to establish a tourism industry since 2004. But for some reason, when the tourists get murdered by the locals, it puts a crimp in the industry.

It remains to be seen whether the killer is a Tuareg (hybrid black + Berber) or indeed an Algerian..

As the comments above make clear, it is madness for any non-Muslim to go to Algeria as a tourist. But not just Algeria. Do not go to Arab or Muslim countries. Not Egypt for the pyramids (remember the mass murder of Swiss tourists at Luxor), not Jordan in order to see the Petra, “the rose-red city half as old as time,” not Morocco for Marrakech.not Tunisia to visit Sfax, not Lebanon to see the Roman ruins at Baalbek. And so on. And aside from the danger to non-Muslim visitors, why should wegive money to any Muslim country?

Yes, I’m not thrilled about going to Germany or France, either. But unless you are reading blogs like Jihad Watch, you don’t understand how much they have deteriorated. There’s that German soccer player (Toni Kroos, I think) who has spent the last decade playing and living in Spain, but who returned to Germany over the summer for a tournament. He went scurrying back to Spain right afterwards, “in order to protect his daughter,” as he put it. Not that I think Spain is much better.

The lure of exotic destinations coupled with a desire to try to demonstrate how safe Islam is and show how silly those people are who continually say the Islam is dangerous set up a fine scene. Women in particular seem keen to clasp this viper to their bosom.
