“EXCLUSIVE: US Soldiers Trapped in Israel on Oct 7 Narrowly Escaped Being Taken Captive by Hamas,” by Jennifer Van Laar, RedState, October 8, 2024:
Forty U.S. Army soldiers who were in Israel as the advance team for what they thought was a routine training exercise last October 7 suddenly found themselves in the middle of a war, unarmed, and being forced to beg reluctant Pentagon officials to send an Air Force plane to extract them.
Approximately a quarter of the soldiers were just miles from Gaza in off-base housing near the IDF’s Tze’elim base when the attack began. A group of local Israelis – IDF reservists, police officers, and ordinary citizens – got them to the base, which Hamas terrorists were quickly heading toward. With his men in mortal danger, the U.S. team leader requested permission to open the arms locker so they could retrieve their firearms but was denied at the US Central Command level and “denied and/or ignored” at a level above that, according to a military intelligence analyst with knowledge of the mission and exfiltration.
The rest of the soldiers had just arrived in Tel Aviv, where Hamas rockets were hitting near their hotels.
The military intelligence analyst told RedState:
“With everything going on, with all kinds of indirect fire, with rockets, for a good six, eight hours those [soldiers who were at Tze’elim] were in very mortal danger and the military and civilian leadership [at the Pentagon] was perfectly willing to not even worry about it.”
Approximately 40 hours after the attacks started, and only after lengthy “conversations at the 3-star HQ level,” a U.S. Air Force C-17 briefly touched down in Tel Aviv to exfiltrate the soldiers.
Hamas fired a barrage of 150 rockets at the airport shortly after the C-17 took off for Kuwait.
Without the quick assistance of Israeli civilians and reservists the unarmed Americans likely would have been taken hostage by Hamas and perhaps faced the same fate as those in Benghazi according to the analyst, who praised the Israelis’ actions…

It just proves how little the bo/biden/harris creatures care. Zero concern. Times like that, it would be an act of courage for the military guys trapped there to inact an ‘ooops, the lock just fell off and the guns fell out’ scenario.
And if the Israelis hadn’t helped them….more ammo for the hamas ghouls to use in bargaining.
It can seem like it was all planned out ahead of time. The guys are sent there, unarmed, the attack happens with them in harm’s way, the honchos say they can’t defend themselves….and if the Israelis hadn’t been able to help them….we would all be waiting on the rest of the story, more families crying, more demanding by biden….

Exactly @SH. They were left hanging out to dry once again. It is disgusting. Thank God for Israeli help & honour.
The almost pathalogical disrespect & concern the current administration (Obama’s too) has for the serving brave men & women of the US military is one of the biggest & most shameful scandals imaginable.
Be it Bengazi, be it the Alganistan horror show & the billions dollars worth of the best battle equipment & money handed to the despotic Taliban terrorists, or the countless other examples easy called to mind, these commie/islamist acolytes are hellbent on destroying the military & thus weakening American ability to protect itself & it’s allies in the coming troubled days ahead.
To plan & purposefully aid & make it easier for enemies within & without to destroy/conquer the US is at best treason.
It is also, all things considered, an act of utter evil.
Lord willing Trump rebuilds the military again, because if the current satanic caliphatic cabal have another term, the US military will be destroyed & likely lost for good.
And that is a very bad thing for the whole free world indeed.

thank you, Hudders, as always, for your thoughtful reply.
It kind of seems like they knew what hamas had planned and purposefully put the military members in harm’s way without a means to protect themselves.
It looks awfully suspicious. And evil.

When it comes to the US Military, Lloyd Austin will screw everything up.

The only way to get weapons to these troops would have been to tell those decision makers that some of the endangered troops were LGBTQ.
rick says
Unbelievable! 40 US Army soldiers could have not only saved themselves but made a very punishing reminder upon these Hamas thugs about messing with them. But to deny them arms is unbelievable. These decision makers, far from the action with no idea what is going on is a problem not only in this incident but I am sure others. Probably army lawyers who were too scared to allow US army members to access weapons. But were they even aware of the danger? If these army soldiers were taken captive I am sure those responsible for it would remain unidentified, unknown and again no responsibility taken which seems to be the code word for this Biden/Harris Administration.

Others may recall when the U.S. was in aghanistan while bo was pretending to be president….commander in chief of the military… the guys in uniform taking fire, were not allowed to fire back.,
If they don’t have weapons, there is no chance they will use them.
Also in afghanistan, they were not allowed to go help when hearing screams from the young boys being raped by mozlum males.
If they did, they were in trouble with the pretender and the military courts.
It’s their plan. Has been all along. Why else would they not allow them to open the locker for the weapons?
David M says
I still want to know why the Israeli helicopter gunships were not up & flying after the attack started.
Barb says
Why is this information just know being made known? To refuse them the right to defend themselves is wrong. The Israels should have given them what arms they had and let them defend themselves and the Israel citizens. No one would have complained.
Except for Clinton and Obama, oops Biden and Harris.
James Lincoln says
This is the first that I have heard about the 40 US soldiers who were in Israel.
Denying them access to weapons by the US Central Command level – and above – is unconscionable!
And 40 hours to get them out on a U.S. Air Force C-17?
Once this information becomes widespread, US Army recruiting will take another nosedive…

First I’d heard of thos–would Biden have done anything if they *had* been taken by Hamas?
carpediadem says
Probably would not have noticed.
So the US doesn’t believe in defending even their own personnel, let alone Israelis, how typical of Biden admin.
SC says
Yet more proof, as if any were needed, that the current regime cares nothing for the population
or the military, regardless of their voting choices.

I would have ignored the orders and opened the weapons locker and armed every soldier. The higher ups that issued to order not to open the arms locker should be jailed and dishonorably discharged,

“the U.S. team leader requested permission to open the arms locker so they could retrieve their firearms”
Good lord. Back in the day when I was a boy attending summer camp in the Sierras it was easier for me to gain access to weapons for archery or the rifle range than it is for military people to gain access to their weapons today. I dont get it. I dont get it at all. It is a sad state of affairs.
somehistory says
I would rather face a court martial or dishonorable discharge than to face a mob of rabid mozlums on a rampage, with a weapon I’m assigned, locked away and I can’t get permission to get it.
And I’d be very suspicious of just why they told me ‘no.’
tgusa says
“no”
So would I somehistory. So would I.

I have a tenancy to ignore anything I am being told by anyone that I know is wrong at that time. I think many of us would do that. But those types are not the modern establishments preferred personnel.
The establishment will portray their personnel as the first responders.Their first responder uniformed class. In reality, the on-site Civilians are the first responders. We see that time and time again and most recently with the hurricane Helene rescue operations.
The Helene rescue op. I believe that the establishment is hindering the civilian effort as the civilians might make the establishment look bad and the establishment can’t have that. Incompetent, irrelevant, uncaring, rigid, methodical, rules based and sometimes slow or stupid.
They will carry out their orders even when what they are doing is all f-ed up.
We no longer see the old time successful cooperation between the establishment and the people.
Namer says
I’m with you Brother..

An interesting thing I picked up on was many of the summer camp counselors were Vietnam vets. They all were very conscientious leaders who would give us the space to push the envelope but not at all soft. That was a far cry from the alphabet medias portrayal of Vietnam vets as unreliable and damaged crazies. I learned a lot from those guys over many summers. I really owe them a debt that I can never repay.
