US and Canada abstain from UN vote to end ‘Israeli occupation’ in Gaza, ‘West Bank’

The Palestinian-drafted resolution vote passed 124-14, with 43 abstentions, which included the US and Canada, to the shame of the governments of both countries. The Palestinian Authority’s leadership is not significantly different from Hamas, and runs a multi-million dollar pay-for-slay program to reward “martyrs,” so this resolution could just as well have been drafted by Hamas. Western antisemites and the willfully blind fall for the charade.

Both the US and Canada should have voted against this resolution, which demands an instant ceasefire in Gaza. That would allow Hamas to regroup and double down.


Israel’s defensive war has now intensified in the northern part of the country, and a lesser war is being waged in Judea and Samaria. Israel is not now and never was on “occupied” land, any more than countries of the Western world are really on land that indigenous people own. But even if they were, Jews are the indigenous people of the land on which Israel is situated; their historic land is Israel. The Palestinians are Arabs, like those of Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.

The UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly supported a Palestinian-drafted resolution on Wednesday demanding that Israel end its “unlawful presence” in Gaza and the occupied West Bank within a year.

The vote in the 193-member world body was 124-14, with 43 abstentions. Among those in opposition was the United States, Israel’s closest ally.

Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian UN ambassador, called the vote a turning point “in our struggle for freedom and justice.”

“It sends a clear message that Israel’s occupation must end as soon as possible and that the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination must be realised” he added….

  4. Why doesn’t the ‘palestinian’ just admit it isn’t for “freedom and justice.” It’s for subjugation and murder that they keep “struggling.”
    mozlums fight and murder the very people who would offer them ‘freedom and justice’ if that was what they really wanted.

    The ancient people of Israel were told how to treat the “alien resident” who went to live in the land. It wasn’t repressive, but they were treated the same way the Jews treated each other.
    Just as modern day Israel treats its citizens….Jew, Christian, mozlum,…etc.

    But the mozlums in the U.N…..and it is infested with them…want war until Israel and all other infidels are dead or bowing to the beast.

    • Somehistory, I don’t agree with PRCS on everything, but he is *not* Muslim, nor is he pro-Jihad. I do wish he’d stop twitting you for your religious views, though.

      • g, I never said he was. He has spent the past years attempting to tell me what I can and cannot say and even on threads about Christians being murdered, he comes along, usually just to me, to mock my belief, and say it isn’t relevant.
        so one day, as I explained, I saw a news article about the red crescent society working in gaza to help those who had been injured….supposedly by Israel.
        And when I went back to the JW pages, there he was, being his obnoxious, arrogant, annoying….so I pretended that his sign on letters were for the red crescent. certainly more relevant than his claim to military fame.
        Of course, he can’t stand for anyone to question his comments….or his claims.

        and at this point, I don’t give a fig if he takes it seriously or not. I recall that when I was first reading JW, he poured out some foul language to you and you continued to be kind while he reamed you up one side and then another.
        Let him deny that too, but he did it.
        He’s called me every name in his little book of nasties. I’m still here, and still writing what I think.

        It doesn’t matter whether he’s mozlum, because his arrogant attitude is the same as theirs,

        • I take your points, Somehistory. I just wish PRCS would stop twitting you and other devout posters, because he is otherwise often a fine commenter on Jihad itself.

          We all need to stand together against Jihad.

        • g, Each person may end up having to ‘pick a fight’….he’s chosen to fight Christians and he can’t do that and expect Christians to stand with him. Not me, anyway.

          He likes to pick a fight, and then pretend that I’m the aggressor. If you looked over the various pages here, you’d see how often he tries to get me to answer his snide, and if I do, he gets even nastier.
          so, not me. Sorry I can’t offer you some solution. I know you wish everyone liked everyone else In fact, his argument years ago with you, told me everything I didn’t want to know.

  6. Christine, I blew up the street above, and US was listed as voting against the resolution. Canada did vote the way you described

    Looking at some other countries, I was pleasantly surprised that India abstained, given its recent record of consistently voting w/ Hamas in the UN. Another country I noticed was Azerbaijan – an alleged “ally” of Israel – that voted for it. Maybe Israel should switch sides and stay neutral in the Azerbaijan vs Armenia, since both countries voted for this resolution

        Perhaps there is value in NOT allowing posted comments to be later edited/ removed.

        After you post something, it lives on – typos and all.

        • Actually, Infidel and James, we did have a syatem at one point where you could edit your comments some years ago, which was great–you were only prevented from editing the post if someont directly replied to you. (I forget the name of the system at this point.

          Sadly, the system could not handle this volume of comments, and eventually broke down completly. A couple of years of comments were lost.

          The current system is not perfect, but is quite simple and so is holding up well. Best choice under the current circustances, I think–although I have had a number of typos over the years that I wish I could have fixed!

        abstaining is kind of accepting. a vote no, is just that.

    • Australia abstained. Australia’s egregious, terror-supporting Foreign Minister Penny Wong said she wanted to vote FOR this resolution but her suggested amendments were rejected, hence abstention.
