Tell me again why Turkey is in NATO.
American soldiers were attacked by a mob of Turkish terrorists in Turkey.
The soldiers were on duty on the USS Wasp.
This is the “ally” you were praising, @JeffFlake @USEmbassyTurkey?
Stop kissing Turkey’s behind and accept the reality, Turkey doesn’t like you.

“Turkey detains 15 members of anti-American youth organization for assaulting 2 U.S. servicemen,” Associated Press, September 2, 2024:
ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish authorities on Monday detained 15 members of an anti-American youth organization who physically assaulted two U.S. military personnel in the city of Izmir, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
The agency said members of the Turkish Youth Union, which is affiliated with the Patriotic Party – a small, nationalist political party without parliament seats – were detained on the orders of a prosecutor.
The group posted a video of the incident on social media platform X and said they placed sacks over the heads of soldiers who had disembarked from the U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship USS Wasp.
The video shows a group of men yelling, “Yankee go home!” while restraining a man and attempting to put a sack over his head.
“The U.S. soldiers who carry the blood of our soldiers and thousands of Palestinians on their hands cannot pollute our country,” the group said on X.
The U.S. Embassy confirmed the incident, saying service members on board the USS Wasp were “now safe.” It thanked Turkish authorities for their “rapid response and ongoing investigation.”…

Turkey under Edrogan is becoming a 2nd Iran – perhaps in spite of what the majority of its citizens may want.

Years ago, Mark Steyn did an analysis of Turkey, where he showed that secular Turks had been following the trajectory of Europe and breeding less, and therefore had seen a population implosion, while islamic Turks had a higher birth rate and were therefore expanding a lot more. Therefore, an overwhelming majority of Turks today are exactly where Erdogan is, and support his neo-Ottoman goals for Turkey

Erdogan wanted to be the Caliph of Isis. Nuff said.
Turkey has never been trustworthy and never can be.

Yes, I´m agree with you.
Here in Germany are millions people from Türkei.
They love Erdogan.

There is a reason why Turkey remains in NATO. The Black Sea. In past decades American Servicemen were advised were it was safe to do a port calls or travel off base apparently this is not being enforced anymore. I can think of a number of places in the 1960’s were sailors from US ships were not welcome. Erdôgan is a fence riding crook but there are signs his days are numbered. The big thing is the EU has Erdǒgan over a barrel. He desperately wants into the EU so he can exchange the worthless Turkish Lira for the Euro, 1 Turkish Lira is worth 0.027 Euro’s. This is not going to happen the EU, that is France, and especially Germany, has learned their lesson with Spain and Greece. If we had an administration with with a pair of gonads they would sit down Erdôgan and make it clear that unless he mended his ways that he might have a zero altitude helicopter crash, and there was an exiled Turkish General that sure would like his job.

That may have made sense during the Cold War. But today, Erdogan is not an adversary of Putin. While Western sanctions may have been clamped on Russia, Turkey has kept the Sea of Marmara passage open for Russian shipping. So that’s not even a choke point for Russia
Even if Erdogan goes, the Turkey of today is not the Turkey of Kemal Pasha. Mark Steyn did an analysis years ago where he showed that the secular population of Turkey had imploded, while the islamic population of Turkey had grown. So regardless of whether Turkey is democratic or not, it’s not gonna have a regime that opposes jihad, and it’s gonna remain an unreliable member of NATO
Had NATO been created from scratch today, Turkey would never have qualified
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Also, as far as the Black Sea goes, Romania and Bulgaria are both NATO members, and are closer to Ukraine than Turkey is. If one is looking at the Caucasus region, the Republic of Georgia, though not a member, is a NATO ally. Therefore, there is nothing that Turkey gives NATO that they don’t have already, other than just having the negative value to them of not being on Putin’s side, even though even that is no longer true

Like I mentioned to GE earlier, why are there US troops in Turkey at all? Let’s see:
➤ They won’t be allowed to act against Russia, which is the leading target of NATO, since Turkey has been an important trading partner to Russia
➤ They won’t be allowed to support the Kurds in Iraq or Syria, whom Turkey itself has been operating against
➤ If US policy changes and decides to support Armenia, Turkey won’t allow US troops there to support Armenia. Be it against Azerbaijan, much less Turkey itself
So why are our troops there? US should close all its bases in Turkey and Qatar, and relocate them to places like Emirates, Bahrein and Israel
William P Moog says
True it is time we abandon countries that support terror groups against America interest ,there is nothing to gain from keeping our troops station in Turkey If the EU feeling strongly about troops being there let them send their own European troops. We all know that is not going to happen.

A NATO country that is now not safe for US service members.

It always take a bunch of muslim ”men” to attack one single non muslim man..Such cowards…
The question can be why are US Service men in Turkey but why does NATO even exist today as NATO came up alongside the Berlin Wall so how come it didn’t go down alongside the Berlin Wall.
Thats not a trick question.
Bring ALL US Troops back to America and protect the International Borders of America rather than protecting Japan, from whom, or Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Germany, UK, Spain, Italy, Morocco and others from THEIR enemies as America is being played for suckers as Trump has often said.
US Taxpayers pay for the defense of other countries with both money and young Americans lives.
Explain that too me.
