The Internet continues to buzz with speculation about why Tucker Carlson opened up his vast platform to Darryl Cooper, a Hitler apologist and Holocaust denier. Cooper, as Stephen Green ably explained, “is either a loon or a fraud.” There’s no doubt about that, and it also must be borne in mind that he wasn’t there to have a conversation with Tucker about intriguing aspects of twentieth-century history. Darryl Cooper was making not-so-subtle points about today’s political scene, and how certain controversial issues should be approached.
One of the most controversial aspects of the interview was that Cooper called Churchill the “chief villain” of World War II, which led many viewers to think, quite reasonably, that Cooper regarded Adolf Hitler as one of the “good guys.” Cooper, however, denied this in the interview himself: “That’s not what I’m saying. Germany, look, they put themselves into a position, and Adolf Hitler is chiefly responsible for this.” Yet what Cooper really is saying is even worse.
Cooper went on to say that Hitler’s National Socialist regime, “when they went into the east in 1941, they launched a war where they were completely unprepared to deal with the millions and millions of prisoners of war, of local political prisoners and so forth that they were going to have to handle. They went in with no plan for that, and they just threw these people into camps, and millions of people ended up dead.” As a result, he said, German commanders began suggesting that the humane thing to do would be to kill these people and thereby end their suffering: “And one of them actually says, rather than wait for them all to slowly starve this winter, wouldn’t it be more humane to just finish them off quickly now?”
This is a wildly inaccurate scenario of how the Holocaust began. The genocide of the Jews didn’t happen by accident, or because the Germans were unprepared for the number of prisoners of war they would have on their hands. On January 30, 1939, two and a half years before Germany invaded the Soviet Union, Hitler said in a speech to the Reichstag that “if the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!” This was no idle remark. In September 1941, three months after the invasion of Russia had begun, the National Socialists even distributed this quote as a wall poster to be displayed in homes, schools, and offices.

I’m just dismayed by Tucker: he’s morphed into a more sophisticated version of Candace Owens. I actually agree w/ him on things like the race hustling of BLM, the threats from China, our relations w/ Russia, the ANC White-genocidal regime in South Africa and the disintegration of our cities
But by doing what he does – interviewing anti-Semites like Darryl Cooper, Candace Owens and that Palestinian priest he interviewed, he totally shoots all that. Can’t we have somebody w/ all his views on the other topics but who is not a deranged anti-Semite as well?

When Carlson was on Fox although some of his points were rational, there were red flags, too. Now, as predicted by me, he’s all over the place and his views are disappointing but expected. He could have stepped out and made a respectable name for himself, but instead he has chosen this disturbing path. If reporters were to actually do the work of reporting, which involves researching – perhaps their views would be different.

One would suppose that Darryl Cooper would say Kristallnacht was just the result of an unexpectedly violent windstorm rather that the clear signal it was of what Nazis and many 1938 Germans intended for Jews.
What is history’s death toll of Islamic conquest of which eternal hatred for the Jew and unbeliever is non-negotiable?
The scale of the Holocaust has not yet been exceeded yet the attempts continue as societies degenerate in the goals of their leadership’s corruption. How many Iraqis died unnecessarily in a war based on lies? How many Ukrainians have died? Are we slowly headed toward the sudden deaths of 50 or a 100 million?
Has the world conscience become so seared that it takes physical pain to wake us from our stupor and synthesized video view of life?

I personally don’t think this is anything to get too worked up about. What this man is saying pales in comparison to what the millions of Muslim foreigners and their communist comrades are doing and saying right now.
We’re supposed to be the side of open debate and free speech absolutism. That must include topics that we are uncomfortable with, otherwise we are no better than our enemies.
The best response to this is not censorship or whining online. It’s open debate and the freedom to say what you believe, even if it’s kinda dumb or “hateful”
This is the hill to die on IMHO.
NOTHING about America works without the right to free speech and expression.

I actually agree w/ you here. I don’t think that Darryl Cooper’s views should be projected on to Tucker just b’cos the latter interviewed him
I do, however, think that Tucker interviewing a string of people who have been more boldly & openly anti-Semitic – from Candace Owens to that Palestinian preacher – is disturbing. At one point, I was hoping that once Trump gets elected, Tucker should either be Secretary of State or National Security Advisor, given his grasp on policies. I’m not so sure of that now, given how open he is to anti-Israel voices
Which is a shame, b’cos I want someone who’s identical to Tucker on all foreign policy issues except Israel

I agree. Talking about Holocaust denial is a distraction from the burning issue of today, which is the complete denial by liberals and leftists — many of them Jewish — about the Islamification of the West and how awful it will be for them.

I’ve heard this vicious claptrap before–that Churchill–somehow–forced Hitler to invade the rest of Europe against hius will.
And the idea that the Holocaust happened by accident is if possible even more grotesque.
I was never that impressed by Tucker Carlson, but there was a time when I considered him to be a pretty reasonable commentator. That time was long since at this point, though…

I believe that the guest on the podcast was talking about the Russian POWs taken in the opening maneuvers of Operation Barbarossa, not the persecution of Jewish people. The Germans attempted a series of encirclements (cauldron battles) with the aim of annihilating the enemy’s military, so that the enemy could fight no more.
This would inevitably lead to large numbers of casualties, or POWs.
The Germans may have believed that they could knock the Red Army out quickly, so that victory could be obtained before the winter arrived. But as we now know, this didn’t happen, and the Germans were left with huge numbers of POWs that they couldn’t take care of.
This is all military history, regarding Operation Barbarossa, the German military goals, and it has nothing to do with the Holocaust or the persecution of Jewish people.
The author of this article is attacking a straw man. (Perhaps because they are not well versed in military history, or Operation Barbarossa specifically.)

Well, if those viewers were led to think that by people like the author of this article, then they were misled. It is not “quite reasonable” to think that at all.
The second assertion is an obvious non sequitur that simply does not follow from the first one.
