Juan Merchan, the viciously biased presiding judge in the bogus “hush money” case against Donald Trump, has just dealt a wholly unexpected and yet staggering blow to the leftists who were positively slavering at the prospect of seeing Trump clapped behind bars on Sept. 18. The destroyers of the republic will now have to content themselves with hollering “convicted felon!” at every conceivable opportunity, for Merchan has now set the sentencing for Nov. 26, a full three weeks after what used to be Election Day and is now the formal end of Election Season.
Merchan explained defensively that he postponed the sentencing in order “to avoid any appearance — however unwarranted — that the proceeding has been affected by or seeks to affect the approaching Presidential election in which the Defendant is a candidate.” He added, “The Court is a fair, impartial, and apolitical institution,” and insisted, again with an unusual degree of defensiveness, that the postponement “should dispel any suggestion that the Court will have issued any decision or imposed sentence either to give an advantage to, or to create a disadvantage for, any political party and or any candidate for any office.”
Good move, Juan, but your explanation won’t fly. You have made no effort to dispel the impression that you’re a partisan hack. In fact, you only fueled it by batting aside the Trump team’s repeated requests that you recuse yourself from the case, given all the clear evidence of your deep and abiding bias. Merchan also demonstrated his bias by entertaining the case in the first place since it revolves around a transaction of the sort that big corporations make on a routine basis without ever running afoul of the long arm of the law.
As former prosecutor Andrew McCarthy noted, Merchan “denied Trump’s defense the right to call former FEC commissioner Bradley Smith, who would have explained” that the claim that Trump paid a porn star to keep silent about their assignation was based on Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s “fairy tale that Trump stole the 2016 election by skirting FECA reporting requirements” and was “utter fiction, in addition to being legal nonsense.”
Merchan’s brazen unfairness and rabid partisanship were obvious from the beginning of these proceedings, and he even has ties to Kamala Harris. Merchan, however, dismissed these as “stale and unsubstantiated claims” and stayed on the case. Imagine what would have been the reaction if a pro-Trump judge had done such a thing.

I just wish once Trump is in office, there is a federal investigation into this lawfare that ends up in every one of these actors losing their law license – be it Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Fannie Willis, Jack Smith, et al. It would also be nice if all those judges, like Engoron and Merchan could get impeached, but I wouldn’t count on it. However, what should happen is that lawfare should be used on those activists who thought that lawfare against Trump was a good idea, so that they are bankrupted and never heard from again

It will be interesting to see what “penalty” Merchan will impose on President Trump. Does he have the bravado to actually incarcerate a President-elect? I think he might based on his skewed sense of “justice.” But Congressional pressure put his his biased daughter will result in any conviction facing Trump in this court overturned as he, by ethical reasoning, should have recused himself.

The delay is because Stephen Crowder exposed it as a fraud. They were all set to lock him up till then. First their plot to shoot him failed, then their plans to jail him. They must be mad.

The only reason that they do not drop all charges at this point is because they can call him a convicted felon until after election day! Talk about election interference .All charges will be drop (all ),disappear like a fart in the wind if Trump wins the election. The FBI is hedging it bets by start an investigation this week on the mayor of NYC , top people in NYC police dept. ,campaign fund raising people in NYC ,special favors to some Turkish builders connected to the Turkish government ,in NYC, ,the top aid for the governor of NYS connected to the Chinese government under indictment .Should be interesting ,I wonder if they the FBI will take away all passports of the public officials ,judges ,and “special “prosecutors ;involved in these investigations in many different states ?
