The good news is that France has now seen a shift to the right, but still not enough of one, with Macron still in the leadership.
France is politically unstable and divided. The far-left has not given up. Leftist opposition politicians plan to challenge the new cabinet with a no-confidence motion. Already, the far-left La France Insoumise party (LFI) has launched impeachment proceedings against Macron, with support from “Greens, the Communists and even the Socialists.”
Oddly, in the July election, a leftwing bloc called the New Popular Front (NFP) won the most parliamentary seats of any political bloc, but not enough for an overall majority. France has 49 million registered voters.
Like everywhere else, France is in an economic shambles, with major threats to its national security due to Macron’s longtime and continued open-door immigration policy. Yet the leftist NFP still won the most parliamentary seats. It’s a similar pattern in the UK that saw the far-left Labour Party come to power to replace the Rishi Sunak government. Rather than deal a real blow to the left, a significant percentage of these voting populations still have not caught on to the fact that it is leftist policies that are sinking their economies and national stability.
The new French government will likely usher in little change. France doesn’t need merely “a more right wing government” with Macron still serving as president. The new government is little more than a reshuffle of the old. France needs a distinctly populist government which understands the far-reaching outcomes of unvetted, illegal migration.
