The Trump-Pence administration’s deal with the Taliban was a bad idea, but it was implemented in the worst possible way by the Biden-Harris administration. There is no escaping that, even though they’re trying.
The Kamala campaign argued that Trump left “the Biden-Harris administration with zero plans for an orderly withdrawal — only a dangerous, costly mess.”
The Biden administration had the better part of a year to come up with a plan. Any plan would have been better than what it did come up with which was to withdraw the troops and leave the diplomats and NGOs while pursuing a fantasy of integrating the Taliban into the Afghan government.
Abandoning Bagram and the Islamic terrorists there led to the murder of 13 American servicemembers and the national humiliation of a panicked withdrawal.
Turning over the management of Kabul to the Taliban was another conscious decision that recreated Saigon.
All of these were decisions by the Biden administration.
The cold hard reality was that Afghanistan was probably unsalvagable. American air power propping up Afghan military forces might have made it work for a time, but it’s hard to say. The Taliban deal was just Qatar playing us and the ‘negotiators’ we sent to Doha would have been off in prison than representing America. Wthdrawal was inevitable, but how we did it was a series of choices. The Taliban deal was a bad choice. The actual withdrawal was a series of catastrophes that probably could not have been any worse.
By the end, the Biden administration had left behind unknown numbers of Americans, flown tens of thousands of enemy nations to America leading to multiple assaults, rapes and at least one wave of attacks, left behind billions in weaponry and suffered a global humiliation without one single person being held accountable.
And that’s without even delving into the billions of dollars in foreign aid sent to Afghanistan since.
Kamala can pretend to be a new player, but she bragged of being the last one in the room on Afghanistan.
“Were you the last person in the room?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked Kamala Harris.

“And you feel comfortable?”
“I do,” she replied.

She blames Mr. Trump for the situation; but she wants to, at the same time, take credit for the decision, claiming it was the right thing to do.
Psychopaths will commit some wrong, error or crime and brag about the deed. But when someone points out that it was a bad deal, the same psychopath will point the finger of blame at another person, thereby denying responsibility for something he (she) actually did.

Biden /Harris signed 17 executive orders on day 1, 11 reversed orders of pres. Trump, opened the borders, spent a trillion dollars, the CIA/NSA/pentagon military leaders and planners had 9 months to decide how to properly leave Afghanistan and they blame the guy that had no say in government for 8 months for their disastrous exit.

Good point, Bruce. Biden could have reversed the withdrawal from Afghanistan entirely, if he’d wanted to–or have modified it in myriad ways. And it is worth noting that whatever the shortcomings if the Trump plan, he *never* mandated withdrawing from Bagram before evacuating civilians, nor leaving masses of functioning weaponry for the Taliban to take.

Kash Patel claims to have drawn up a plan for Trump. The Biden administration was not interested in even looking at it. Staying in Bagram Air Base till the last was part of it. I think I could have come up with that.

If Biden had left the Trump plan untouched and not superstitiously made 9/11/2021 the artificial deadline for a withdrawal, then the debacle that followed would not have happened. There would likely have been a national unity regime in Kabul, w/ the country becoming more islamic, and different people gradually filing out of the country

The Trump plan was based on conditions like no terrorism towards the US along with more importantly there would still be at least 2,500 special forces (SEALs, Green Berets) stationed at Bagram air base ( remember the Taliban were bombed when they made attacks against American forces along with the fact no Americans were killed the final year).
