On Tuesday pagers belonging to Hezbollah members exploded all over Lebanon — in Beirut, in the Bekaa Valley, in southern Lebanon — as well as in Syria and Iraq, where Hezbollah members had presumably taken them. A dozen people died; there were either 3000 wounded, as some sources claimed, or if you believe Lebanon’s Health Minister, Firass Abiad, there were 4000 casualties. 200 of those were seriously wounded. Hezbollah was in a state of shock. It urged all of its members not to use their pagers, nor their cell phones; they would instead have to use their walkie-talkies.
On Wednesday the Lebanese media reported that at least 450 people were wounded as another round of explosions rang out throughout the country at midday. The exploding devices on this day were described as “walkie-talkies,” the very devices that Hezbollah had told its operatives the day before were safe to use. Oh dear. More on Day Two of the Exploding Electronic Devices can be found here: “Additional Hezbollah devices explode across Lebanon,” Jerusalem Post, September 18, 2024:
Axios started to report significant details about Israel’s involvement in the attack, while The Jerusalem Post (which also has extensive Western sources) has also been able to independently confirm large aspects of details related to the attack.
Nine people had been killed [on the second day], according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The latest figure is 14 killed on the second day, with 450 wounded, about 250 of them seriously.
According to Reuters, citing a Lebanese security official, those wounded sustained wounds primarily to the stomach and hands.
Quite a few also had wounds to their faces, and like Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, lost an eye.
The Lebanese Civil Defense later stated it was operating to extinguish the fires that had broken out following the explosions in some 60 shops and homes, 15 vehicles, motorcycles, and two fingerprint devices. It added that ambulances were transferring the wounded to hospitals throughout the country.
Initial vague reports of networked devices exploding came in from Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and throughout Lebanon.
If true, this would be the second consecutive day of potential sabotage and explosions in Lebanon after around 3,000 [some sources say 4,000] — almost all members of Hezbollah — were wounded by exploding beepers on Tuesday.
According to the reports, the explosions occurred at and in parallel to the funeral of four Hezbollah members in Lebanon. The funeral was live-streamed on X but ended abruptly.
Unofficial reports claimed that iPhones, video cameras, IC-V82 radios, and other devices also detonated.
Hezbollah is now fearful of every sort of electronic device: not just iPhones, but video cameras, the Japanese-made IC-V82 hand-held radios that are ordinarily used for ham radio communication — meaning they are typically used by amateurs who use them for fun or personal interest. Apparently they are easy to sabotage.
And now there are reports of solar devices and systems exploding.
What can Hezbollah do? Now that walkie-talkies, too, can no longer be used, pagers were no longer to be used after September 17, and cell phones have been shunned for months as a security risk, it’s hard to figure out how its leaders and operatives will communicate with each other.
And if there keep being new sources for explosions, such as lithium batteries used to store solar energy that have detonated and set houses on fire, what devices can Hezbollah leaders trust? Do its members dare to turn on their televisions, wear their Fitbits, try to access their email? Everywhere danger now lurks, and Hassan Nasrallah hasn’t a clue as to how to defend against the kind of attack, that turns every electronic device, every lithium battery, into a potential weapon. Hezbollah has told its operatives to distance itself from communication devices. Does that include computers?
Unofficial reports also claimed that Hezbollah told its members to dispose of devices containing a lithium battery or that are connected to the internet….
Get rid of any device that contains a lithium battery or is connected to the Internet? That must mean all computers must go. And how will Hezbollah then manage? When Israeli generals threatened that if necessary they could “send Lebanon back to the stone age,” were they thinking that Hezbollah would be forced to do without electronic devices for fear of explosions?
Full of fury, but unable to take their rage out on the Israelis, some Lebanese flailed out wildly, attacking UNIFIL vehicles. Presumably these Lebanese blamed UNIFIL for not protecting them from this kind of attack, but why expect UNIFIL to do what Hezbollah cannot?
At least 4,450 people in Lebanon have been wounded in the first two days of Israel’s exploding-electronics attacks on Hezbollah. Twenty-six — 12 on Tuesday and 14 on Wednesday — have been killed. 4,000 were wounded on the first day, 450 on the second. On the first day 200, and on the second day 250, have been seriously wounded. Hezbollah has been humiliated. It originally told its members not to use cell phones because they could too easily be hacked, and instead distributed to them the more “secure” pagers — 5,000 of them. At least 4,000 of those pagers exploded, wounding or killing those Hezbollah members who possessed them and others who were unlucky enough to be in their vicinity. Instead of the pagers, Hezbollah told its operatives to use walkie-talkies. Now, on Wednesday, those “safe” walkie-talkies have been exploding all over Lebanon. And that is not the end of it. Hand-held radios have been exploding all over the place as well. So have some video cameras. And so have some solar energy systems, not just exploded but also caused houses to go up in flames, Now those items, too, have been deemed unsafe to use. And Hezbollah leaders now realize that the clever Israelis, who have warned that they still have some “surprises” for Hezbollah, may be able to sabotage other electronic devices, including heating up the lithium in computers to cause explosions.
A world of woe, Hassan Nasrallah. A world of woe you weren’t expecting, but now it’s here.

Of course the Islamic world could make their own communication devices but that’s not going to happen now is it because the Islamic world can produce almost nothing on its own. Think the Saudis minus Western technology would have ever figured out how to extract oil from the ground and refine it? Believe Shiite Iran on its own would have ever figured out nuclear fission and fusion?
The Islamic world is a parasitical world as well as a dead world. It uses what the West has produced (including freedom) in order to advance its warped agenda and a warped agenda is Islam in a nutshell.
Long live Israel. Death to Hezbollah and Hamas and to the religious zealots in Iran as well. For that matter, death to Islam, all of it, because it is such a drag on mankind.

Wellington: if it weren’t for the United States, and other Western and “kuffar” countries, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the other oil-rich Gulf states wouldn’t have a pot to piss in.
As for Hezbollah, perhaps they could take a couple of tin cans and attach a string to them, and communicate using those.

The country of Spain published more books last year than the ENTIRE Arab world.
Mike says
Daniel: I don’t doubt that. Back in 2002, a group of Arab researchers determined that Spain had a GNP greater than that of all the Arab countries combined (including the oil-rich ones).
Moreover, they discovered that in that year alone, Spain translated and published more books than the entire Arab world had done in the previous *millenium*(!)
gravenimage says
More than that, Daniel–Spain has published more books in translation in the past year than Islamic countries have *in the past 1000 years*. A stunning figure, but quite true.

You’re right! We’ve been studying ancient history for homeschooling and it finally dawned on me… the story of Joseph from the Bible is something I’ve read thousands of times, but this time I finally connected how Joseph was sold to Ishmael’s people – the Ishmaelites (the forefathers of the Arab/Muslim world) and then sold into Egypt. I’ve known this, but I guess I finally realized how they were operating a slave trade even that far back – way before Mohammad or the official Islamic religion.
Honestly, did they ever *not* engage in slavery? And the Bible says Satan comes to, “steal, kill, and destroy,” and what else does slavery do except for all those things. It doesn’t create, promote goodness or virtue, all it does is steal lives, kill people before they’re supposed to die, and destroy hopes and futures of those who are slaves.

There is only one solution/Moderation revolution!
What Hezbollah and all the other Islamist terror groups need to do is simple: get rid of Jew-hatred, and also Christophobia, Hinduphobia and other forms of “kuffar”-hatred!
Reinterpret and contextualise the Qu’ran, and learn to live peacefully alongside those people who have different opinions on religious (and political, and social) issues!
You’ll be much better off, and others will be much better off too.
Inshallah.

Some refrigerators, ranges and microwaves have things built in for spy purposes. How many of these ‘newer’ models are in the homes of the hezbollah members? Will they also be available weapons for Israel to use?
One thing that would cut down on the ability of hezbollah to threaten and murder people in Israel, would be if Israeli techs could find a way to sabotage the firing mechanisms on the weaponry hezbollah employs to shoot missiles at Israel.
mozlums…esp those in iran and their proxies in Lebanon and elsewhere…have a lot of pride, do a lot of boasting and bragging and threatening. The Bible says, “Pride goes before a fall.”

Yes.
Either to:
1. Prevent the firing of the missile.
or
2. Cause the missile to explode at the launch site.

Thank you, James. Weren’t there accounts from another war where cannons were sabotaged so that they exploded, killing the men firing them? Or am I remembering something from an old movie?

Not sure, somehistory.

If this act is the precursor for an Israeli invasion, it makes perfect sense….disrupting Hezbollah internal communications and depleting its manpower. Otherwise, the timing/reasons are rather inexplicable.

Maybe they’ll be reduced to communicating via smoke signals. That and carrier pigeons. Both of these are tried-and-true methods.

“Florida Rep. Greg Steube Introduces PAGER Act To Block U.S. Funding From Reaching Hezbollah”
“U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced the Preventing Armed Groups from Engaging in Radicalism (PAGER) Act, aimed at stopping U.S. taxpayer dollars from being funneled to Hezbollah through the Lebanese government.
“We cannot, in good conscience, continue sending U.S. taxpayer dollars to Lebanon when they are complicit in empowering a terrorist organization whose primary mission is to destroy America and Israel. Hezbollah is propped up by the Iranian regime, and responsible for countless attacks against our ally Israel and responsible for killing hundreds of Americans during the horrific attacks on our Beirut Marine Barracks and our U.S. Embassy in 1983,” said Rep. Steube.”

“Tech guru who helped Israel obtain pagers used to bomb Lebanon missing”
“A Norwegian tech guru who inadvertently helped Israel source the pagers used to bomb Hezbollah militants disappeared on the day of the blasts and hasn’t been heard from since, MailOnline can reveal.
Indian-born entrepreneur Rinson Jose, 39, was listed as the owner of a Bulgarian shell company that reportedly paid British-educated intermediary Cristiana Arcidiacono-Barsony £1.3million as part of a complex Mossad-orchestrated deal to obtain the pagers.
Jose, who moved to Oslo in 2015 after a two-year stint working for a London immigration advisory firm, is understood to have left on a pre-planned business trip on Tuesday.
But bosses at his primary employer, Norwegian media conglomerate NHST, have been unable to reach him since – and reportedly contacted Norway’s domestic intelligence service late on Wednesday night after becoming aware of his links to the attacks in Lebanon late.
Oslo Police District announced this evening that they have ‘launched preliminary investigations into the information that has come to light.’”

WITH GREATEST RESPECT to all writing here, I think a point is being missed. In order to embarrass or humiliate a person the person must have a sense of shame. Look at all the shameless evil conduct Islam teaches and practices. There is no shame in Islam. I defer to those with better credentials for the answer: Is not the lack of a sense of shame a hallmark of being a psychopath?
James Lincoln says
Your point is well taken, Frank.
Psychopaths do not feel shame because they have no conscience.
somehistory says
The psychopath never takes responsibility when something goes wrong. He may be the direct cause of errors, but he will never admit to it. He will point fingers at other innocent people. If something seems to go right, he will be quick to take the credit, but will never accept blame.
Therefore, he has nothing for which to feel bad….shame or regret.
