Hamas’ Khaled Mashal: Biden Administration is Practically Recognizing Hamas

From Mashal’s mouth to all our ears, but we already knew that the Biden administration has done that — “practically recognized Hamas.” And if the terror group gets its way, a permanent ceasefire will be imposed by the Americans (assuming Harris succeeds Biden) and Hamas will still be standing, which will allow it to triumphantly proclaim its “victory” over the Zionists, leading to an inflow of new recruits, and Arabs abroad, not just in Qatar, will be ready to help refinance the terror group. Senior Hamas leader Khaled Mashal told The New York Times in an interview released on Tuesday that the Biden administration is “practically recognizing Hamas,” the Palestinian terrorist group that rules Gaza.

Mashal was the chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau from 1996 until 2017, when he was replaced by Ismail Haniyeh. He sat down with the Times for an interview in Qatar, where he spoke about how the terrorist organization sees itself as its war with Israel enters its 11th month.

“The [original] Israeli-American vision wasn’t talking about the day after the war, but the day after Hamas,” Mashal said.His message was clear: Winning for Hamas means surviving. And it increasingly looks like that will happen.

But the Americans are no longer talking about “the day after Hamas.” They don’t expect it be completely defeated, but to remain as a force in Gaza, perhaps sharing power with Fatah. Prime Minister Netanyahu wants to ensure the complete defeat of Hamas, but the Americans are becoming impatient with that goal. They want the war to be over as soon as possible, so that they can begin to talk about their Middle Eastern obsession — a “two-state solution” — because, as Kamala Harris insists, “Israelis and Palestinians must have equal measures of security and prosperity. I support the right of the Palestinian people to dignity, freedom, and self-determination.” The fact that such a Palestinian state would be carved out of territory assigned to the Jewish state by the League of Nations’ Mandate for Palestine is of no concern to Kamala Harris. Nor is she disturbed that Israel would become a rump state nearly impossible to defend, with a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea. And she seems to be unaware that the Palestinians, whether represented by Hamas in Gaza or by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, have every intention to use their “new state” to mount future assaults on Israel, now much reduced in size, in order to achieve their clearly enunciated goal of destroying the Jewish state and replacing it with a twenty-third Arab one.

However, he continued, the US now says “we’re waiting for Hamas’s response,” when it comes to long-term ceasefire deals to stop the fighting in Gaza.

“They’re practically recognizing Hamas,” Mashal concluded.

The top Hamas official also said he believes the terror group now has the “upper hand” in the war because it has brought Israel to “a state of attrition” — a far cry from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s calls for “total victory.”…

Hamas has been dealt massive blows. At least 18,000 of its fighters — roughly half its pre-October 7 force — have been killed. Many thousands have been wounded, and are unfit to fight. The IDF has destroyed much of the massive tunnel network — 450 miles long — that has been built under Gaza. And the Israelis have seized, too, enormous quantities of arms. But Hamas is still fighting, in north and central Gaza, where it appears that some of its members have managed to regroup into new fighting units, and continue to offer resistance, albeit weakening every day, to the IDF. This is indeed a “war of attrition.” How many casualties will the Israeli public endure? Many Israelis now seem ready for a ceasefire — even a permanent one — as long as all the hostages are returned. And Hamas is counting on Israeli public opinion to stop the war in Gaza before the complete dismemberment of the terror group. The prime minister, of course, remains determined to see this campaign to the very end, and his unchanged war goal — the crushing of Hamas — achieved.

As for Khaled Mashal himself, he doesn’t care how many Gazan civilians die. He welcomes their deaths. Hamas’ practice of embedding — hiding — its operatives, its weapons, and its rocket launchers, in and around civilian buildings, including schools, mosques, hospitals, and apartment houses, is designed to maximize civilian deaths so that they may become a propaganda weapon in the endless war against Israel. And the Israelis, even more fervently, want to minimize civilian casualties, which is why the IDF warns civilians to leave areas, and buildings, about to be targeted. To this end, the IDF had by March dropped nine million leaflets, sent fifteen million text messages, and made sixteen million.

As for the “price Palestinians must pay for freedom,” Khaled Mashal isn’t exactly sharing in that “price” to be paid “for freedom.” He has stolen $4 billion from money that donors meant for all the people of Gaza. While the war goes on, he is living in luxurious surroundings in Doha, Qatar, where he has nothing more pressing to think about than whether to take his breakfast in his room or to go down to the dining room.

“As a Palestinian, my responsibility is to fight and resist until liberation,” Mashal said….

Yes, he must “fight and resist until liberation.” But don’t ask him to contribute even one cent of he $4 billion in stolen aid to the “fight.” Don’t ask him to make any sacrifices; it’s out of the question. He’s a leader. He gives interviews. What more do you want of him?

How can the word get out to the Gazans that the three most senior Hamas leaders have robbed them blind? The late Ismail Haniyeh stole $4 billion, Mousa Abu Marzouk stole $3 billion, and Khaled Mashal made off with $4 billion. Perhaps Mossad can figure out a way to slip someone into Qatar who will take photographs of Mashal amidst his lavish surroundings in Doha, as well as of Mousa Abu Marzouk in his the luxurious digs, and finally, the apartment of the recently “neutralized” Ismail Haniyeh. Then the IDF can make ten million copies of those damning photos, with the following written under the photographs: “People of Gaza! While you scramble to survive, your leaders have stolen money that belongs by right to you. Khaled Mashal has stolen $4 billion, Mousa Abu Marzouk has stolen $3 billion, and the late Ismail Haniyeh stole $4 billion. Demand your money back!” Then drop ten million copies throughout the Strip, from Rafah in the south to Gaza City in the north. Let the people of Gaza see how Hamas’ leaders are living it up, on money stolen from them, while they are being used as human shields in the current war. It will lower morale within the ranks of Hamas, and may lead to widespread protests against the group’s leaders. And that would be a good thing.
