Anyone in doubt about partisanship and support for Israel in Canada should note that the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois supported a motion “to study the quickest path to federal government recognition of a Palestinian state.” The official opposition Conservatives however, objected to the motion, arguing “that recognizing a Palestinian state in the absence of a negotiated agreement with Israel would be a stark departure from long-standing Canadian government policy.” The merit of the Conservative argument should be obvious.
The Liberal move rewards the Palestinian “resistance” which aims by means of violence to obliterate Israel from the River to the Sea, as the is documented in the Palestinian National Charter and reiterated routinely on PA TV.

MPs on the House of Commons foreign affairs committee have voted to study the quickest path to federal government recognition of a Palestinian state.
The move comes despite the objections of Conservative MPs on the committee, who argue that recognizing a Palestinian state in the absence of a negotiated agreement with Israel would be a stark departure from long-standing Canadian government policy.
“This motion is an important motion for those peace-loving nations who support a two-state solution,” said Liberal MP and committee member Omar Alghabra, who presented the motion before the committee.
The motion’s wording supports a “two-state solution where a safe and secure state of Israel lives side by side with a safe and secure state of Palestine.” It calls on the committee to “dedicate no more than four meetings to immediately study the issue of how the Government of Canada can advance the recognition of the State of Palestine within a two-state solution.”‘
As CBC News has reported, Liberal MPs on the committee secured NDP and Bloc support for the motion in a closed-doors meeting. Conservatives on the committee rejected the motion and prevented it from getting to a vote until Tuesday morning.…

Why this development should surprise anyone surprises me. In 2015, the just-elected twerp bragged that Canada was the first post-modern nation because it had no core values. And this vote proves he was right.

This is the whole trouble. Jihad prospers when western (and other) democracies choose to snuggle up to jihadis to get short term political mileage. It seems that the general principle is that “Jihad” has to be managed and not fought.
It is obvious that monumental disaster for all democracies is a mathematical certainty.

While they’re still in power, they can announce a recognition of “Palestine”, and while they’re in the business of recognizing imaginary countries, they can toss in Comrade Jagmeet’s favorite – “Khalistan” – into it as well.
